There's a few reasons to that but the main one is that LoL is simply a bigger Game.
Popularity is an important part of what makes a Pro Player...and Faker became bigger than the game itself on some levels. There's places in the world where LoL is knows thanks to Faker, and the the opposite and the moment Faker stops playing...LoL Esports numbers will most likely drop significantly.
The other thing is this...there's only one LoL goat and there's no debate at all, but there's 5 Gods of Melee (sure their career wasn't as long as Mango...but they still deserve their title).

they missed a few insane stats:
t1 was the first team to go 18-0 in series in lck (and probably all 4 major regions).
faker's world's winrate is 50% (4 wins, 2 second places and 2 3rd-4th places), never finishing before semi-finals when qualified (failed to qualify only twice while t1 had horrible rosters).
he went 4.5-5 years without losing a single game on corki (23 or 24 game winstreak) and went his first 3 seasons without losing a game on leblanc.
he has ~70% wr on his 3 most played champs (azir, orianna, corki), 65% on his 4th and 5th (ryze, ahri) and 80% on his 6th most played, leblanc (all at 50+ games).
another stat (not sure if that was in s14 or in all seasons) but he got first blooded in 1% of his professional games.i

Faker completed the game in 2016, lost his crown in 2017, became "washed" until he won Worlds again in 2023 and no one has managed to catch up to him.

@@vPzWalkerx In terms of series played, 5/8 of his worlds appearances he played against lpl, all time score of loss/win games played against lpl at worlds is 8/37. He has only actually lost two matches, which were BO1s. 2 out of 4 of his world finals wins were against lpl, both were 3-0.
This stats is definitely crazy if you think about it. If LCK vs LPL without T1 the records is 5-7 but if we add the T1 series it become 13-7 see how crazy it was? T1 alone won 8 series VS LPL this stats since 2013 worlds

for people who don't play LOL and only play valorant, faker is a guy with the talent of aspas who has remained a top 4 team in the world for more than 10 years, most LOL players lose their physical and mental health being in the top 1 in the world for 1 year and then disappear due to the weekly changes in the game and don't even qualify for the tournaments.
nah nah nah Faker clears Aspas in talent. There is no Val equivalent to Faker. If we were to make that comparison Aspas would have carried a team like mibr to grand finals at champs, like Faker did in 2017. Literally 1 man armying a team to the top.
@@imasepan you can't tell because valorant is a game where all proplayers say that the aim of the game is luck, but aspas before becoming a proplayer was considered a hacker, before sacy recruited him to loud he had to prove that he didn't use hack, and after he proved it sacy said he would make him the best player in the world.

And many pros in Valorant have been considered cheaters in the past. ZmjjKK was called a cheater before making Champs 22, Jamppi was accused of cheating in CS, and famously Leaf was considered a cheater by the BR community (same community that thought Aspas was cheating).
Faker was head and shoulders ahead of his peers and had dominant performances on completely off-meta champions. When SSW (or was it SSG) played SKT in the grand finals of Worlds they literally made their midlaner pick Malzahar to only perma-babysit-jail Faker so he couldn't hard carry and take over the game.
It would be like Aspas dropping 40s every game playing pre-rework Yoru or release Deadlock as entry. It would be like 2023 FNC wasting a Brim ult/Gekko ult or something just to kill Aspas. That's the level teams and players went to just to shackle Faker at his mechanical prime.
Aspas is historically the best duelist in Valorant history - but he still got diffed by Demon1 & something at Champs and he wasn't even close to being statistically LOUD's best player when they won Champs 22 either. pANcada, Sacy, and Less were rated higher than him. Shit, even Cryo, ScreaM, Derke, and of course Yay were rated higher than him on the same role. At Aspas's prime, he was still mortal. At Faker's prime, nobody could touch him.
it would be a closer comparison to say florescent in womens league but even more dominant. Or tenz during first reykjavik but nearly twice as good. Or something in challengers but once again even more dominant

Millenials lived in a time where we were able to watch Faker, Magnus, Michael Jordan play, also ronaldo and messi, even we were lucky enough to watch kobe and james play together in the olympics, two debatable GOAT nominees, and im pretty sure theres still a few thats also debatable greatest of all time on their respective field. Like usain bolt, greatest sprinter. To be alive and watch them live playing on their prime, even if you're someone who worked 9-5 on a deadend job and just watch this people after work. We still had it good. The entertainment on how this people play and be able to watch it live is still a good memory we can look back when we're really really old. Truthfully, there's never going to be someone as good as Faker nor good enough to be in the hall of fame. There are really good players but with those stats Faker holds, not a chance.
someone as good as Faker is definitive but a lot of players deserve to be in the hall of legends. Just because Michael Jordan or Lebron James exist, doesn't mean that there aren't any other legends of the game. The same logic applies to LoL and Faker.
At around 2:00 the reason for the wall:
Dont know dates or teams but the screen for the crowd is directly behind inbetween the teams. One pro team looked at the screen behind them to check the minimap so they could invade the opposing jungle at the very start of the game. Walls are to prevent that.
Bro this was against samsung galaxy 2016/2017 worlds final. The wall was there because right in top front of them was the big screen for the audience. Players literally had to look up to see the game and no one would even know.
And yes someone did look back once as you mentioned i think it was someone from LEC.
Also long time ago like I think it was CJ Entus Frost where I think it was Ggoong who looked up the screen and saw the minimap and pinged in game right away

Only record he doesn't own is "Most MSI Titles". He has 2 but Xiaohu and Ming have 3. AND Xiaohu won as both a toplaner and as a midlaner

It was more so a stat of his older version of himself. 2015 to 2017 Faker had a very large pool and only really 1 bad pick (vlad, his xerath is good but kept getting blind picked into stuff like zed or dive comps). Remember Irelia mid, olaf and riven mid?
