Drive through a junkyard in this 1945 Studebaker US6 and listen to the Hercules JXD engine. This truck is a cousin to the GMC CCKW and uses many of the same parts. The engine in this truck is a flathead displacing 320 cubic inches, and like their CCKW cousins, the US6 has a five speed transmission and two speed transfercase. Thanks for watching!

At 3:37 it is easy to see the difference between the Studebaker US6 and the GMC CCKW,. The Chevrolet G506 looks almost identical to the GMC CCKW except in a 4X4 configuration instead of 6X6. Thanks for watching!

Наверно я единственный человек кто ездил на студебекере в далёком 1967 году. После войны он с 1945 года отработал ещё 22 года без запчастей. Если не было бензина, можно было залить солярку и он работал на соляре,только заливать надо было при работающем двигателе и не глушить после этого, а то не заведется. Потом дали новую Колхиду ,Каз606 ,грузинское чудо,я через месяц попросил студебекер обратно, но уже порезали на металлолом. Классная была тачка,советские машины обходила запросто. Потом появился ЗИЛ 130
Где это было?
"отработал ещё 22 года без запчастей".
Вся трансмиссия ЗиС/Зил-151 от него. И мотор тот-же. Только коленвал с укороченным ходом от старого АМО-3.
Кабина использовалась на Газ-51

When I was in the Army in 1972 my section had a 1962 Studebaker deuce and a half. It had a six cylinder normally aspirated diesel. It was a five speed with a transfer case with only in or out. No low range. It had air brakes and the exhaust stack came out between the two sets of dual wheels on the right side. The oddest thing was it was able, in an emergency, run on a mixture of 70% diesel and 30% mogas. Mogas was low octane gasoline, around 70-80 octane. Also it was straight piped. No muffler.

My great-grandfathers used to help build Studebaker in their days. I fell in love with Studebaker after I heard of my family heritage for Studebaker.

I grew up on a cattle ranch in the mountains of New Mexico. These old trucks were ancient in my mind, about 35 years old. They were difficult to drive well. They were loud and driving one 2-3 hours absolutely wore a person out.

My Name Sake Uncle owned a small coal mine & Staving Log Operation in Missouri. We had Several Studebaker 5 ton Trucks. Empty or Fully loaded good for 35/40 mph. We took proper care of them, I don't remember one breaking down without Driver involvement.🤓🇺🇸⚓🐵

The US6 is the truck the Rooskies took from lend lease during WW2. This channel is awesome.
The 2 driveshafts was wild looking, I guess they didn’t piggyback the rear axles until later.

This is the Truck that the Russians loved the most that was provided to them via the Lend Lease Act - this became the Katuska Rocket Mobile Platform.
The Shermans, (4000), British Hurricane fighters were all junk but the Studebaker 6X4 was the truck that won the war.

Студебекеры обслуживали часть аляскинского Алсиба, Ленд Лиз. Перегон авиатехники. Остались с тех пор. Вижу там и Джиэмси. И более поздние Доджи по-моему, эвакомашина. Американские грузовики это отдельная тема, мощные, по мужски сделанные.

In 1959 the Australian Army had hundreds of Studebaker trucks in storage from WWII. They were assembled in the Army workshop at Moorebank NSW and used for about 7 years by the Army as general service trucks. Some were built by REO. My truck was a REO and it was more reliable than the Studebaker trucks in the unit.
That old thing sounds really good. We should have NEVER sent them to Soviets. Bet they are still running.

If you happen to have a spare set of CCKW troop seat and top bow hardware parts I'd buy them. Need everything except the top bow corners. I don't need the wood parts as I can make that new.

Studebacker was givin a gov. Contract for thousands of these ww2 military trucks not one allied soldier used one they all went to russia for lend lease the russian said it was the toughest truck they loved it

It would cost a lot I'm afraid but Australia received many Studebakers during the was and most are still in good shape, I actually drove one while I was visiting NSW in 2009. Quando criança, anos 1960, via com freqüência um caminhão Studbeaker na minha cidade. Era parecido com os caminhões GM Chevrolet da mesma época.

Не вдруг... )) сначала на ГАЗе разработали 3-х осную версию 63, конструктивно очень похожую на Студебекер, потом по приказу передали ее на ЗИС, там доработали, получили 151-й ЗИС, а уж потом через 10 лет 157-й.
