I like this product. It keeps my cats off the table and furniture. I tried to discipline them by spraying them with water but of course, that didn't work. They'd jump back on a few minutes after going away. So I placed the mats on the sofas and tables. They can climb and perch on anything else, just not the places where I have food and I don't want my sofas covered in fur. The static shock doesn't hurt them but it does startle them away. I think these mats are great to have if other other forms of discipline fail.

Will it affect model trains?
How do you keep it in place on the counter? I took in a rescue 4 months ago, he’s half wiener dog, half demon and has pretty long legs. He can jump 5ft high, flat footed. He jumps on my counters and even the top of my Weber grill, on the back porch, with ease. I’m just worried he’ll knock it off the punter when he jumps up there, if part of it is already hanging off the side.
He’s not very bright and I think that’s led to him being quite fearless, even when being zapped. I’ve never had a dog this stubborn.
I’m hoping the mat will startle him enough on the paws to get him to stop jumping up there to eat the cat’s food. I don’t have to worry about the cat, because my cat can’t jump. He’s literally the most un-cat cat you’ve ever seen.
I’ve always kept the cat’s food on the counter so my dogs don’t eat it, but this demon dog is something else.

Edit: Ignore the “shocking is cruel” crowd. People that actually need the mats are thankful to see reviews on them. I’ve gone 20+ years without needing one until now. It’s easy to talk smack about something ya don’t need, until you do. If ya think the mat is cruel, then obviously the video and product are not for you, so keep scrolling instead of trolling, because folks that NEED it don’t care.

do you think I can wrap it around a trash can to prevent my dog from messing with the trashcan?
there is a video on this and it did work. The pet learned. When they don't learn by positive reinforcement, it's time to go to negative reinforcement.

i have the petsafe version, where it beeps even though it's full battery it doesn't beep when i touch it.

This product is inconsistent doesn’t last long and this review is poor and they don’t shock that bad I stood on one on high and it was almost like a massage very overdramatic in the review… 😂

Think of a pet as a toddler. Would you shock your 2 year old to teach them that something is wrong? No you wouldn't. Because that's mean
I also wouldn't leave a toddler at home by themselves, so since I can't watch my dogs every moment I prefer to have some that would protect my $3,000 couch. My dogs can lay on the dog beds.
