In this video, I share our early experience using the PetSafe ScatMat Indoor Pet Training Mat. I purchased these mats for our new sectional after catching our Mastiff defying all other attempts to deter him from jumping on the couch. 😩

We have a 22 month old English Mastiff and he loves to lay on the couch as well. I bought the scat mat and put it on our couch when he was about a year old. Instead of being afraid of it, he licked it. You could hear the static charges on his tongue and it didn't faze him a bit!! What works for us is laying a baby gate on the sectional and he leaves it alone.

So sick of my huge dog sneaking on the couch when I am out of the room or away. It's gotten so bad no one wants to use the couch since it's covered in hair and dirt and dander. I will try this method to help us live together more peacefully!
Oh gosh, I can relate! Have you tried the scat mats? I highly recommend trying those after you thoroughly clean your couch and see how it works. Ours don't even have batteries in them now. I just keep the mat out on occasion as a reminder that they aren't allowed on the couch. Let me know if it works for you.
I just got this in hope of detouring my cats from jumping onto the kitchen counter. I've tried everything from tinfoil to doublesided sticky tape and wads of paper towels doused in vinegar, but she just is too curious every time we cook and will be looking for scraps or be nosy. Hoping just one light shock with the sound on will work and she just never bothers it again
I just want to know where to get the big dog beds on the floor.
I never seen one that big.

Hi, unrelated question, is your flooring laminate or vinyl, and how is it holding up against your dogs? Thank you!
Thanks so much for the question... We LOVE our floors and they seem to be holding up very well so far. The ones we have now are a laminate called LVP (luxury vinyl product). We put in a wood-like tile in our AZ house and loved those too, however, the install on those was more extensive for sure. The ones we have now are super easy to clean and, even with my boys short nails, when they play or tear around a corner, haven't put even the tiniest of scratch in it. The only downside to both of the floors that we've had is that you can't really see the mess, so I tend to procrastinate cleaning until it's pretty embarrassing. Haha! Hope this helps! 😊
@@BigDogMom Thank you. We are about to put LVP throughout, and I was having second thoughts about whether we should go with tile downstairs. Our boy is still young, 10 months, 150lbs, and I think he will be Sully's size. We have also given up on our couch, we got a cover that is the same color as the couch fabric, that covers the straight part of the sectional. Like Sully, he loves curling up in the corner and resting his head on the cushion.
@@AbcDino843 I would do the LVP. I messed up the name. It’s Luxury Vinyl Plank. 🤦🏼♀️ We love ours and have it on all three floors. It stays a little warmer than our tile did. As far as the couch, smart idea on the cover! 😊

Yeah, my little dog learned to push the foil off the couch too.
Haha! Sorry. It was a good idea though! For us the foil worked for years. In Sulley's old age, his comfort surpasses his fear of the foil.

We have an English mastiff and he has punched through three of the them!

@@BigDogMom Basically as he gets on the sofa a large part of his weight might go through a small area and eventually it breaks the stitches of the sofa and into the springs which in turn blow out the bottom of the sofa.
His claws even trimmed will wear through the shoulders of the sofa as he nuzzles into it.
We’ve just bought another two and it’s likely given his age this’ll be the last sofa he breaks.
As studies to dog training, this keeps dogs off the furniture while I’m away.
My Mastiff is part of the family she can be on anything she wants
