Wonderful detailed review of the pen. Interesting that the guilloche is literally where you can feel it on the pen body.
indeed - this is a stunning pen
Guilloche is one of my favorite patterns. Otto Hutt did do some good designs in the past.
:D yup OH does some awesome stuff in this technique
Thanks for the detailed review!
My pleasure! Glad it was helpful
Nice colours and love the rose gold ones. In person, the guilloche is quite shallow. Some of the nibs (e.g. steel flex) are a set a bit deep into the section so the nibs look short for the size of pen. Gold nibs seem to be set longer so look better.
Well there is a fine line in between guilloche and just having deep carved vertical lines that basically dont enhance the look/touch - they change it completely.
You mentioned that the nib and feed were easily removable for the steel nib option. Is the same thing true for the gold nib and feed?
hmmmm - on gold is not a nib unit detachable since its glued - the only way to remove the nib is by pulling it out of the section together with the ebonite feeder
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Hi Eme - will you be attending the DC Pen Show?
hey hey - sadly not, lots of work and its just too much / im doing good progress on the Gravitas website and as soon as we will go live, ill have plenty of time left to catch up with all on the show's arena
As a French I have to intervene. Guillochet is pronounced “gui-o-chet”. Nice details on the pen though.
:)) im all up for being corrected on my French pronunciation - greetings brother
Thank you for the review. Looks nice, but nothing too special. And definitely not for $400+
Fair enough! 400 gold nib / 260 steel nib ... just to not miss this
