- My analysis of "Natlan Preview Teaser - Need a Hand?" ( • Natlan Preview Teaser ... ).
We finally got a good look at Natlan's vision design as well as some completely new things which we didn't know before. Are these Saurians, companions or just mounts, how do they work and let's discuss the three new characters. I hope you enjoy the video :D

The theme of the nation is literally war, the main stories have been getting darker, this nation contains the last gnosis to which they sent sb who is likely to be Harbinger rank 1and we're edging closer to the climax of the plot. If the story isn't dark at all that would be a plot twist in itself
Most likely, you had Sumeru that looked like a fairytale when in reality it was full of death of the gods and hidden secrets
Hoyo is baiting us with colourful fun stuff while keeping the death war & suffering hidden
I am glad I am not the only one who is thinking this. As bright and cheerful as these Natlan teasers have been, I am like, "This is all a facade for sure."
No shot they will make the nation of war all sunshine and rainbows.

Think about the Dendro dude too! The Dendro Saurian in the previous trailer could use some sort of orbs to connect and fly like the guy! All three of these newly shown characters were very like the versions of the saurians we previously saw!
exactly all three saurians match these chracters shown and we know there's 6? so ig there's one for each element? but we have 7 elements so I don't see how this is working out.

All the others could be tribes while Pyro is just the one that covers it all.

My current guess is that every existing character uses the saurian that corresponds to their element, kinda like the "standard" mounts. Those are probably the ones we saw in the previous teaser. Characters from Natlan, however, will all have unique mounts, that look different but are functionally the same, like those 3 guys in the new teaser. They don't do anything unique, they just look cool while doing the same thing.
Edit: Now that I thought about it some more, you will probably have to select what Saurian you want to use, like equipping a gadget or something. But Natlan characters will come with their own versions of those mounts, so by using natlan characters you can have multiple different mounts in the party without having to swap mounts. That will give them some exploration utility, like Pneuma/Ousia did on Fontaine characters.
I also suspect that only Geo/Hydro/Dendro mounts will be available in version 5.0, since those are the only ones we saw across both teasers now. The other elements will then be added throughout 5.x the patch cycle, alongside Natlan characters of those elements. Quote me.

Things I personally will look out for from the teaser and your video:
1) The Dendro guy’s gimmick is the same as the saurian. But what if instead of just a mode of travel, both can actually attack on mid-air? As it was shown in the teaser, the dendro dude swiveled his claymore mid-air.
2) Some people say Furina’s kit is kinda foreshadowed by the hydro hypostasis (ousia-pneuma colors, hydro animals representing saloon animals, etc). We know that Fontaine’s character gimmick revolves around arkhe alignment, which Furina both have. If we apply this concept to the Pyro archon, then we will relate the pyro hypostasis’ design and skills to her. Pyro hypo has these pyro animals as part of its mechanics which might imply that the Pyro archon doesn’t need all the saurians/mounts because a) she might have the power to shapeshift, b) as the archon of the nation of dragons, she has the control over these saurian mounts, or c) part of her kit is to summon mounts, just like how Furina summons hydro entities with her Skill. Note that these are just all speculations. Based on the slime/hypostasis theory.
3) Each region represents real life culture/s and nationalities. The recently teased Natlan characters has rich and diverse motifs that might hint which real world culture/nations they’re representing. The most obvious design for me is the hydro girl’s design. She might possibly from a tribe inspired from Austronesian or Pacific indigenous groups. Even her shark’s design is leaning on that culture. The geo girl is interesting, and the teaser showed a tent-like “city” where she most probably resides. I’m not sure with this one, but might be inspired by Native American culture. The hardest to guess is the dendro guy. His design shows many quadratic symbols and checkered patterns. It may represent any culture from South East Asia, Latin America, or the Aboriginal people. There are three more saurians from the first released teaser which will represent more characters. We might get characters based on Eskimos, the Aztecs/Mayans or the Amazons in the future ;)
Sorry for the long comment, I’m just very excited for Natlan. And I think Hoyo kinda wants to represent almost the whole real world. The whole version 5.x series will be a really good treat to the Genshin community. :)

Based on the characters and Saurians shown, Iansan is gonna be part of one of the other tribes for sure. Probably the tribe relating to Pyro.

Also, Natlan's vision casing resembles A LOT the "ollin" simbol from mexica (aka aztec) culture, mostly known from the mexica sun stone (aka aztec calendar). Ollin meaning "movement" or "course" in Nahuatl
I haven't seen anyone talking about it yet, but Natlan's Vision case design looks (and might be inspired from) like the Mayan Calendar, which is the inspiration for Natlan overall design as well !

Would be cool if those mining tools (?) from the enemies were a reference to the damage made to Amazonian indigenous people by illegal mining. If anyone's curious about this, the Yanomami tribe in Brazil suffers with heavy metal poisoning due to mining techniques employed illegally by companies in their lands. If I remember correctly, their people, land and meals were suffering with quicksilver poisoning, it's a whole humanitarian/sanitary crisis.
Natlan is so much more than I expected, and this teaser genuinely made me look forward to the seemingly Natlan specific travel style, more than the previous teaser they showed. If future characters also end up mimicking their Saurian companion, I'm sure the designs will look very cool. ♡

Sure, there's a chance it won't be as action packed or war-torn as you think, but war isn't always constant, and it's not always happening everywhere. Even then, the 3 enemies shown in the teaser look to be from one of the tribes, so chances are there'll be enemies from all the tribes. The Saurians were domesticated over hundreds, if not thousands of years, so it's not surprising that they don't look like conventional dragons. They also haven't shown the Mare Jivari yet.
@@billystokes3917 This is genshin 10 NPCs in a cutscene is all you get theres not much war to pack it in there also Saurians are not suppose to be domesticated if we are really talking about a native american inspired region this euro-centric mentality that animals are subservient to humans is not what theyre going for, but oh well they did fumble on the designs so expecting them to respect the culture is too much I guess.

2:47 This vision is adorned in the style of the center of the Aztec Calendar... a mexican classic design.
The city living in the volcano valley is like Teotihuacan, but it also makes you think of the Inca cities... the balloon thing is an interesting nod. After all, it is a popular theory that the Nazca lines were gigantic to be seen from the sky.

Ok, this is…pretty unrelated to the overall video, but I haven’t seen anyone mention this so I just wanted to spread the word.
We…most likely haven’t seen what Snezhnayan visions look like, at least not in their more natural state. This is because Arlecchino’s vision story tells us that she gained hers when she was still in Fontaine, meaning that it should’ve manifested with a Fontainian casing, and yet we see a “Snezhnayan” one instead, making it likely that the casing was somehow removed and replaced.
I don’t exactly know how this works, nor do I get…why and how they seemingly removed Arlecchino’s potential power over Pneuma or Ousia in the process, but I think that Arlecchino and Childe’s visions have unnatural cases made specifically for Fatui members, which makes sense in retrospect given how they’re silver/metal unlike every other casing, and also how they share the same casing as the manmade delusions.
In fact, given how we see Childe and Arlecchino wear their delusions exactly where their visions usually are during their boss fights, I kind of wonder if that’s why these casings are applied, it allows them to easily switch between the two. So…yeah, I don’t actually think we’ve seen a standard Snezhnayan vision yet, and that the Fatui ones are a bit of a mystery at the moment.

The Hydro girl just gives this Caribbean vibes and the Dendro guy too, he also gives modern jungle vibes which is cool, the geo girl looks like she is from the dry areas up north of Central America. So yeah, as a hispanic from the Caribbean I approve this designs, but I'm not going to lie, I'm looking for more tanned looking, volcanic living characters since it is after all the Pyro Nation, there has to be something related to fire.

Puerto Rican here, 100% agree the designs are so so pretty, but yeah hopefully we can get some more fire themed stuff but hey its only the first three characters so im still super excited

There are many totem-style animals in indigenous cultures throughout the Americas, from the indigenous people of Alaska and Canada to those of South America. So it's only normal that some characters have animal characteristics and that they can identify with an animal that is their personal totem. Like Nahuales in México. In the Native Americans they are bears, eagles, wolves, buffalo... In the north there are also dragon-style animals: the winged chimera Piasa of the Illiniwek, in the Cherokee the giant snake Uktena, or the horned snake of the Choctaw, Seminole or Ojibwa people. All very similar to the Aztec Quetzalcóatl or the Mayan Kukulkan... Yes. The mythology of all of America is fascinating and very suitable for great Genshin-style epic scenes.
I definitely see each character being a counterpart to a Saurian, but I don't think they're 'attached' to them. I think the Saurians will be Natlan only, and the characters will let us do those traversal techniques outside of the nation (I think they'll just work like fancier versions of Sayu and Kirara skills).
I'm going to leave this comment here for anyone who complains about "they are too white for a region based in Latin America." As a Latin American person (Who was born and lives there) Please, enough is enough. Our region has been quite diverse for about 500 years, with people of all kinds, especially Europeans, natives, Africans, Arabs and in some parts a greater Japanese, Chinese and Filipino influence. So no, the skin tone of the characters is fine, because we Latinos can be of any skin tone, since we are not a "Race" but an Ethnicity, which are very different things. Therefore it is more important for us that our culture is respected and not simply "skin tone." Because we are diverse enough to have a great variety of tones.
Apart from the fact that the anime design is a great success since in Latam, we are all big fans of that medium, with Dragon Ball and Pokemon being the most favorites.
PD: Oh i almost Forgot the other impact anime. Saint Seya (Knigts of the Zodiac/Caballeros del Sodiaco).
I'm half Hispanic on my mother's side and I resonate with this so much. Not all Hispanics/Latinos are dark skinned! We can have light pigmentation too! I am super happy with how the characters look and it just makes me more pumped to see what else Hoyoverse has up their sleeves.

people who complain about skin tones are actually whites / social justice warriors from the U.S, my black friends are actually fine with whatever characters they have, lol. it's so embarassing. and the black people doesn't even mind (even some are) they're just seeking for attention. lots of the complaints coming from LGBTQIA too. I'm in that community and people in the community loves dramas. yuck!

Is it mandatory and if not people have an excuse to behave like animals? No, not at all.
Just aesthetically though it might be neat to let loose and include more unique features. Just one of a number of regards where I find Hoyo hold back too much.

my take on their power is that everyone of them is from a different "tribe" an have different types of saurian companions, if you pull for the character you can use that ability if it's the same exploration type needed, like surfing, climbing and jumping in the air, if you don't have that character you can always borrow the saurians like in the first trailer.
Its kinda fitting for the title teaser "Need a hand?" which implies exclusive game mechanics to Natlan region to use companions to scale different terrains.
Reminds me a lot of pokemon like in XY, SM, SwSh whereas you use different pokemon for scenarios like using lapras to surf, charizard to fly etc

Natlan is gonna be a blast . Natlan might be my fav region.
Most likely, the new characters (at least some of them), have their own traverse skills, but non-natlan characters will be able to use saurians to traverse Natlan, similar to how in Fontaine, only fontaine characters have ousia and pneuma aligned attacks, while non-fontaine characters can use the ousia and pneuma orbs to apply them to their attacks! (or like how only fontaine characters can jump out of water)
The glow the Natlan characters have is probably some unique power exclusive to the region, similar to ousia and pneuma! Perhaps the Pyro archon, or sovereign might be the source of this power, therefore can use all of the mounts?
It's also super curious that because Natlan is made up of six tribes, we don't have one major city! Maybe some cities/villages will be larger than others? Similar to Inazuma city and Watatsumi island??
I'm also thinking we enter Natlan from northeast fontaine, over the mountains behind the fortress of meropede! We'll probably enter the water tribe region first! Maybe the water saurian tribe doesn't have a city or village, but live on ships? Kind of like a sort of stationary fleet?
In the world quest "Recollections of a Fontainian" Augustus Lovelace basically confirms that Natlan is in the east of Sumeru, past the desert area
Also i think itd be funny if the city of each tribe had their own katheryne

This teaser has me so excited for 5.0
I just want to say I really love all of your videos. The music in the background is always so calming and the content is always great. You really do point out a lot of the details I missed in Genshin's content.
I think the gimmick for these characters is Gadgets, the Dendro boy probably has some kind of hookshot, the geo girl has a personal mining buggy, and the Hydro girl has a shark like surf board. These gadgets for natlan characters likely supplement the need for Saurians for certain traversal methods and from the looks of it the Dendro and Geo are some type of mechanics, based on their jackets tied around their waists.
There are also levitating rocks like that of chasm but on the surface
3:51 I think that with us seeing the geo saurian from the previous trailer and seeing this dinosaur creature, it’s making me think that there aren’t just one saurian for each element.
If every character that was tied to a singular saurian all of the characters would just have similar play styles.
If there were say 3 saurians per element it would give hoyo more space to work with when it comes to developing unique play styles and animations.
The dinosaur in the background could very well be another geo saurian (because of its yellow colour) so that means that there could be other travelling methods to geo Natlan characters. This would go for the other elements.
Hydro-it could be no stamina is drained when swimming, a dolphin saurian
Dendro-it could be grabbing materials or activating challenges, a chameleon saurian
Geo-it could be being able to grow your size, a stegosaurus saurian
Anemo-double/triple jump, a monkey saurian
Electro-teleporting to locations within a 100m radius, a bird saurian
Pyro-flying using a new stamina bar (glides when depleted), a dragon saurian
Cryo(possibly please)-stopping time for a short period to escape enemies or travel across water (like in The Orchard of Pairidaeza), a cheetah (because they are so fast it would seem like they passed you in the blink of an eye)
Fun fact, the Natlan vision is based on the center of the Sun Stone or Aztec Callender
Every new region still blows me away with how different of a world it feels. It's really like immersing yourself in a traveling experience
You all, here is a theory. In the past teaser we only see three saurios, but there were six symbols, and know in this teaser not only the geo girl looks like the geo Saurio, the other enemys all have the same aestheric. Putting all this together I think each tribe of Natlan is going to have the same aestheric that the 6 main saurios, and the respective element and habilities of this saurios will determinate the culture of the tribe, for example, the hidro shark-like saurio will be the symbol for a caribbean tribe, they will bw really close to water and be capable of sail the sea, mean while the tribe of the green saurio will be related to dendro and they probably live in tall trees, so that is why they move using the green orbs. Now, we know that there are seven elements in genshin, and only 6 tribes and saurios, so... I think there is not going to be anything related to Cryo, thats my guess.

true but it is kinda speculated that murata is dead there is new pyro archon ( prbly like furina model i mean) and then we have himeko expy as prev. pyro archon and i do think we will revive her also it looks cool tribal+ streetwear and tattoos

Natlan is Native and Latino, so it's definitely it
the place is kinda mix landscape of mexico because of the colorful paints on the hills, mixed with grand canyon from america and the native american face paint, with a little bit of Hawaiian because of the active volcanoes.
the blue part of the map looks like fontaine so maybe with the arrival of natlan we can get a small fontaine expansion and also natlans location seems to be above fontaine and maybe in a future expansion next to the sumeru desert
Kinda expected the fire nation and nation of war to be way cooler. Just looks like sumeru again

Yeah, I think that's why they made Natlan character's have those saurian skills to make it easier to traverse. We will probs get one for free as usual and ofc hoyo will make money when people pull on characters that make it even easier to explore the nation.

Ever since the talking stick released I did imagine the gimmick of Natlan characters would be for all of them to have a companion, tho not super unique since weve had characters like that before. So I think this idea of them not needing to "become" the saurian themselves and just use their own way to travel is a good roundabout. And yeah bc of the dendro guy (also didnt even know if consider the other two as living beings they kinda seemed fake/mechanical idk) I dont think you will necessarily *see* this companion and I do believe they will just be able to use this unique mode of transportation respective to just their tribe. Didnt think about it but yeah maybe the pyro archon is able to traverse in the 6 different ways
I love all the designs of the characters so far, it looks so much more detailed and the colour schemes are amazing!
leaks a while ago said that the dendro guy will be a five star claymore wielder, and able to grapple to places like seen in the saurian trailer when the dendro one grappeled using its powers so it is confirmed for them all to have a saurian companion
I think by the colour of their collar and shirt it seems like they are mixed dendro and geo combine in one character, they can probably choice elements based on it’s affect
Of hydro traveler had the alignment mechanic like the Fontaine cast, I wouldn’t be surprised if pyro traveler had a sorta “companion” in their kit similar to the natlan cast here

we won't see the archon until the livestream or the interlude teaser most likely. archons aren't playable until the .2 patches
We're probably going to get the drip for the characters that were shown here, the archon won't come till 5.2/5.3, you'll have to wait till the 5.0 Livestream minimum

I'm actually pretty excited for Natlan. The environment, the characters, and of course the soundtrack! Can't wait till we reach the land of pyro.
I think that there are 7 types of saurians in natlan and every saurian represents one of the elements in a speciefic area , here we saw the (geo , hydro , dendo) ones
I think there will be more saurians in the future and maybe the main city of natlan will be in the pyro area with the pyro saurians around, and we may see the natlan archon there.

Natlan look a complete different game, the gameplay system seems to be so different than all previous Nations.
Also, the travel effect on the characters remind me of Kingdom Hearts, same effect when using slash/slide/dash mode (I believe it is called)
when i saw the enemies outfits, i was thinkink that it is very similar to the Saurian that can travel throw the ground. At least their hats and clothes reminded me to that Animal.
It gives me of Bounty or dragon hunter vibes.

Honestly i don't get my hopes up much for anything, so I'm extra happy when things go right, and not too upset if things go wrong. Before natlan teasers literally all i was hoping for was the heat mechanic from signora fight coming to the open world, or basically dragonspine 2. I honestly like the cold mechanic and i love helping people get through dragonspine so another place to do it would be great. Even if there isn't an area like that i enjoy the color scheme so i'll be happy with this region.
Possibly the Mare Jivari? Venti's story quest mentions there being no wind there, so it's probably extremely hot.

It's just as inazuma, and mondstat. dragonspine is part of mondstat yet only dragonspine have the mechanism. so is in inazuma where only tatarasuna had the mechanism of HP draining while the electro fog still around.

I think the dendro guy just use something similar to the dendro flowers in Sumeru, which would make sense with the dendro lizard tongue, so perhaps the lizard is already at the location and the character is getting to it.

I always wanted my own character or my own story in one region in Genshin, Like it's my own story. (without playing, just imagining) I had a hard time thinking which region, but seeing he teasers with the water saurian and how the Water Natlan Character Ride a Shark saurian/Mount, it just a dream come true, just like having a pokemon or companion, I pick Natlan as my fav because of this 💕❤💋🙌

I have theory about their possible positions in the meta, since 4.0 introduced characters who differed from what was expected of their specific elements, I think 5.0 will introduce characters who’ll revive their specific elements, because Natlan has themes of rebirth you can think of it as it's characters rebirthing their elements.
The dendron boy could potentially make burgeon a more viable option damage wise opening up a whole new playstyle for dendro and could be used with Emilie since she can support burgeon. This would ‘rebirth’ the burgeon reaction making it deal more damage and open up a damage over time situation. (Also since Natlan is the Pyro nation this would fit very well). He could even be a good person to pair the Pyro archon with.
The geo girl might be a support that revives geo, she could be a great support for characters like Navia and Chiori or even much older geo units. Maybe she'd allow geo to be less constructive and open up a playstyle that differs from current geo playstyles. (I'm not sure how tho).
The hydro girl could be a support that creates a scenario where hydro becomes less of a reaction based element and more of a DPS element, changing sub-dps to main DPS changing hydro form simply support to main damage dealers. That or she'll support vaporise making viable again and increasing its damage, this more likely.
Whatever roles these characters take I'm really just excited to see how Natlan characters change the game and progress genshins gameplay.
Maybe dendron will fall off? Maybe vape teams will become top tier again?? Maybe burgeon will become usable??? There's so many possibilities.
Idk why this gives me vibes from that one area of super mario odyssey. That one area with the cooking theme has the same color scheme as this...
Them borrowing the saurian powers makes more sense because, The geo drill vehicle and shark surfboard are very ON THEME with those two characters. I highly doubt others would be using these vehicles unless Hoyo gives them all a custom model that matches their theme..which seems doubt full. I feel those vehicles are just their own personal objects, and they are infusing it with borrowed powers...aka they arent necessary but you can choose to do so if you want..just like the third guy..who is using the saurian power without any mount.
