Bach has been part of our musical culture for a long time. I think this is partly due to our organ culture. From organ builders to Sweelinck, the organist's organist, we've always had a special connection with the instrument of all instruments and therefore the composer of all composers, Bach. Easter is coming up again, this means there will be more amazing performances of the passions in a week than most countries see in a year.

It motivates me to continue practicing my Bach (which I don't play in the right order either :D). It may still be a long time before I can play like that; or I can never do it... The cello breaths beautifully and how the scenery seems to reflect the music : "a cloudy green city and the gray water breathing below... but from time to time, just a touch of sunlight through the dark clouds..." What a fine musician... All my gratitude for this lovely journey.

I couldn't help but think, watching this 14-year-old (as of 2017) play, "His hands are HUGE!" His ability to traverse that Eb3-Eb4 stretch in that famous prolonged arpeggio section of the Prelude without resorting to thumb position dazzled me. And those hands must be even bigger now that he is a full-grown adult. I hope he is still playing. If he was this good in 2017, think of the potential future he has if he continues to devote himself to this art.

The Prelude of this Suite should be played for as long and with as many expressions as possible. Three minutes are just not enough. The Courante also, from Bylsma's 1992 breakneck speed to Segovia's musings. In fact this music should never stop.
It should be understood that, when writing his six suites, Bach - as often - had in mind addessing technical problems. So, in the first suite in G, G is the natural sound of the second string; in the two suites in C major and minor, C is the natural sound of the firt suite; Other ones riase othe kinds of problems

It really fascinates me. I’m 16 and can play the cello well, but this guy plays better than I do playing the 3rd suite.
