I know the "easy" way is painful for pro sewists to watch! Lol But do keep in mind, there are many beginner sewists here, and also brides who cannot afford alterations. I would rather show them a cheater method that is harmless and reversible than for them to try damaging methods in their desperation.
For those asking for price difference,
Easy: 75$
Moderate: 100$
Advanced: roughly 200$
Keep in mind, all three versions require the hand sewing of the lace, so that accounts for probably 65 to 70 dollars of the cost of each one.
thank you for added the price info. Very close to what I charge
Hourly rate or a time study would be more helpful information.
I'm basing those prices on about 100$/ hr.
I totally agree with u. Open mind. ❤
Thank you for the added price ranges, as well as the in-depth tutorial. I have a dress very similar to the one in the video, and I have been reaching out to tailors and seamstresses regarding this exact alteration. This morning, I was quoted over $400 USD, and I immediately said no. At that point, it would be a third of the price of the entire dress! I am going to do my best to make the alteration myself, if I am unable to find someone less than $200 around me, even if they need to do the Easy method and just sew through it all. 😅😅 Thank you again!! (Please note: this is in NO WAY a dig at that particular business who quoted me that for this exact alteration -- we just don't have any funds, AT ALL, and I am making do with every penny we find for our elopement. If I could just pay them for their handiwork and skills, I would, but that is entirely unrealistic for us)
This is a great alteration that I find really helps keep the price in line & affordable alteration. Especially the lace “fill in”. It looks beautiful! As always… great video. I think your videos are helpful to people learning the business but I think these are great for brides because it may help them understand the expertise that they are paying for will transform their maybe not so well fitting gown to an amazing look & fit beautifully. ❤
I never would’ve thought you could make the “easy” way look so good. Definitely works great when you’ve got the lace overlay to hide the jump etc! I’ll definitely be keeping this in mind to help my clients keep costs down. Thank you for sharing this information!!
This video is a 10 out of 10. Loved the different methods and that she was very happy with the cheapest way because my brides are almost always budget minded. Puts my mind at ease
This video was so fascinating. It really shows that price is sometimes the most determining factor. I love the easy method as it kept the boning look and reminded me of jeans hem alterations where you keep the original hem and stitching and was it was so easy to do. Maybe as professional sewists we overthink the alterations. I love that you were able to offer three different methods of alteration.
Thank you!!
Thank you for demonstrating each option. I am happily surprised that the bride found the most value in the easiest method. Sometimes, I geek out on the longer methods, when I don't need to.
Thank you for all of these tutorials.
great video!
This is so helpful, thank you!!
Thank you. 🙏
Thank you. You are fabulous. I'm going to watch this again. Is it best to take in at the side seam? When the bride was here I pinned at the boning to the left and right of the side seams. Watching you I think I best go to the side seams.
What a great Video. I always learn something from your videos. They are so clear and easy to follow.
I’d be interested to know the difference in the price. Approximate is fine. I know you’re not comfortable giving actual prices.
It's in my pinned comment. ❤️
Thank you for watching. & thank you for being kind.
Can you show us how you take in a beaded bodice without side seams at the back zipper? Love your videos!!
Can you plz DM me pics and question on instagram? @bridalsewing
I recently bought a dress that is about 2 sizes too big. It has boning and a little piece of lace needs to be repaired at the trim.
I’m wondering if I can use the excess fabric to repair the lace
I would probably take the waist apart, do the easy alteration on the top , then alter the skirt and put it all back together
Great video! What is the purpose/use of the silicon elastic? How do you hem an illusion skirt with scattered lace motifs that float above the hemline?
Hello! :) those are individual videos. Just search "@bridalsewing" followed by your query to find the videos.
That’s is the exactly way - advance-I’m doing at the alteration shop - I can do 2 or 3 dresses per day - but how does the owner pay me 😢
I never noticed before, what are you peeling off your razor blade at the beginning?
They are individually wrapped in the case.
Hello, I have a wedding dress with a corset but the corset makes me look boxy and bigger than I am, the shape is straight I would like the corset to be more hourglass shape, is it possible to change the shape of the corset?
It sure is. Usually when this happens, you have a shorter waist than the dress. You need the notch of the waist moved up.
@@BridalSewing thank you for taking the time to reply, so even if I pull the dress up without altering it will the shape change ?
