After five difficult months this feels so good! I still have five years of tests and monitoring ahead of me but one can´t - and shouldn´t - live only from one test to the next one. Life is the best time you´ll ever have so better to enjoy the good moments when they come. I don´t want to identify myself as a cancer patient. Yes, I will be one at least until year 2028 but waiting only for that would mean loosing the years between. So I´m going to focus even more to things that are important to me. As it happens comics feel even more important than before so there´ll be more content coming this way. Sincere thanks for all those enquiries of my health during this time. They´ve been reminding me how our mutual passion for comics is The Force what gives a comic fan his/her power. It’s an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.
I'm really glad you are doing so well and looking forward to see where you take the channel. It's good to know that even though w don't know you personally, we care and want to see you well. Thanks for the good news and be well. 🎉
Thank you for your kind words. This strange passion for comics is at the same time very personal and collective experience. It does make us all more friends than strangers.
Ooh! That sounds like a perfect spare time. May I ask what country are you from? From your nametag I´d guess UK. I´m always curious of local comics scenes of people on this channel. @@paulbyrnewexford
@@analogcomics I'm from Ireland next door to the UK. Ireland doesn't have a big comic scene just very small occasional independent releases. I would have grown up with comics from UK, USA, Asterix and Tintin. Last Christmas I got a subscription to some European comics such as Eppo Stripblad and Journal de Spirou to see what they were like. I'm looking forward to my comic shopping holiday in Brussels and maybe Antwerp.
I´ve been to Dublin once. I loved the way people gathered into pubs after work. It was the first time I felt that pubs had an actual social meaning:) I can see how the comic market must be heavily influenced by other countries as Finland is about as small market. I´m pretty sure that in Belgium you´ll experience sensory overload when you see the amount of albums available. Just pack the minimum amount of clothes to your luggage so you´ll have the space for comics:)@@paulbyrnewexford
I´m SO happy to see your logo! It also instantly reminds me of Vagabond. One day I´ll have them...And technically I did kill those cells off. Radiation only breaks the cancer cell structure enough so that bodys own protection system attacks and gets rid of them. So, technically my body is a weapon😛A bit like Musashi Miyamoto but only from the inside.
great news! no more excuses now!😆we are waiting for further great comics reviews. have you read comics by former cancer patients or not at all? there are some stuff that are very emotional but also helpful. Example: "I'm a Terminal Cancer Patient, but I'm Fine." by Hilnama. I read this one and I really liked it. It's funny but there are some details that may help people.
No more excuses! That is straight-to-the-point Finnish-style statement and so true💪I have not read any comics about this issue yet. While recording this Good News announcement I realized I couldn´t even watch the previous video where I told about my cancer diagnose. I think it´s because I´m still not completely out of it mentally. I´ve learned new things about myself during this process and I´ve also learned to be more compassionate towards myself. I think I´ll need more time - more distance - before coming back to this issue again. Right now I just want to look forward😊But you are right. Other peoples experiences do help. I was contacted by another person with prostate cancer and we talked and shared thoughts. It helped that person a lot although I couldn´t help him with the actual illness. He felt he wasn´t alone in his situation anymore and it gave him strenght and hope.
@@analogcomics thank you for your answer. Everybody reacts differently in hard times and afterwards, even in the same family. It really depends on the personality. I am thankful when people share their experiences during hard times, or/and with doctors, because in the end the greatest psychological support you can find is by people who have experienced the same kind of problems (and of course the family for the lucky ones). And when artists are able to sublimate their pain, suffering, emotional journey into their art, it oftens happens to be great.
Excellent news my friend. I am very happy for you. One of my favorite things about comics is the comics community and I feel very happy that you are feeling better and that your treatments have been working. I can't wait for your next videos. By the way I am currently reading Hal Foster's Prince Valiant and Milton Caniff's Terry & the Pirates and I am loving them so much, what are your plans for your next readings?
Having this many fans fussing about comics is the best thing. For some reason Prince Valiant is mentioned in many places now - or maybe it´s just the algorithm trying to tell me to read it too:) I haven´t really stopped to look at it since childhood. I have three bags of comics waiting. Just finished The Eternaut(my first read) and now I´m thinking if I should take a look inside those comics bags or choose something older from my shelves...So my plans are still open as of today.
@@analogcomicsI understand, there are so many options. I used to read Prince Valiant in the newspapers and hated it, I was so wrong, since now I appreciate more the art and the story. How was your experience reading the Eternaut?
@@luisricardoguerrerorodrigu1968 I didn’t care for Prince Valiant either as a child. But lately I’ve found myself liking all kinds of things just like that. Even in music. It seems enough decades of life experience helps to show new angles😄Eternaut was also very old fashioned and I know that I wouldnt have liked it when younger. Now I enjoyed it. I was surprised to find out how important voice for freedom it had been originally. I managed to avoid all info about it before reading.
