Crazy that these companies sell these with no instructions on how to connect the lights using the connectors. You got to wonder how many people are returning these all cut up cuz they can't figure it out. Literally nothing in the instructions on how to do this.
I didn't need instructions out the box for my first time...though I cut a piece of strip in the line and not on the middle copper part, thankfully it wasn't that long but definitely taught myself a fun lesson learned type of experience!
I've seen these lights advertised and even though they say DIY cut to fit, they never give more details. Thanks so much for clearing up some confusion.
This is the most detailed method I have seen about cutting and extending the light strip, and it uses an RGBCW light strip. This light strip is more complicated to connect than single color light strip, and it also explains the connection accessories at the corners. Very useful, great video. keep going.
Just bought a 5m roll for a cabinet internal lighting and kind of guessed one cuts on the copper but wasn't sure of that fact. Thanks so much for a clear consice and waffle free video. Wasn't awate of the connectors or extender accessories either.
Really helpful! I was looking into how I could connect two strips to one power supply but with a break as they're for under my kitchen cupboards. Thanks so much
THANK YOU, for posting - I hate it when a company makes an item and the store stocks it and sells it, but doesn't stock the parts to use it to its full amount. Nowhere in the store, nor online store, sells the splicer kit for 5 terminal lite strip. I had to have my daughter, who has an Amazon account, to order my kit. That's absurd ! Thanks for posting this training video
Appreciate you shedding some light on this subject ( all Puns intended ) A couple of years ago @ Huntsville Hamfest I purchased a couple of strips without any intention of connecting them together. Recently during building the Tennessee Valley Model Railroaders N Scale double deck layout ( Bell Buckle, Tennessee) Several members used RGB Strips for lighting underneath the upper deck. Which has inspired me to explore using RGB Strips in my home. Thanks for sharing this video & information.
Thank you so much for this video. Now I feel like this is something I can’t attempt to do on my own. I’m a grandma so sometimes doing the things of scary but you made this simple and straightforward. Thank you.
Ok I just want to cut them bc they are to long and put that somewhere else so I cut it on the copper and then I have to get clips? And I can't just move the rest of the strip elsewhere and call it a day? Cause it's Bluetooth. Edit : I don't know what I'm doing
Thank you sir for the excellent video , i decided that i wante dmy Led lights on the back of my desk just so at night i can have some lights to go along with my LED Lava Lamp and i could have a really cool set up but i did not know how to cut the LED LIGHTS Safely so i could make sure i dont damage my lights and you sir are a life saver now my LED Lights wont hang over my disk and i can have lights on the top and bottom of my desk. Really good advice on cutting LED strips and corner connectors. My manufacturer's instructions does not cover this. Been a great help to me , thank you.
Very helpful! I am making some LED wall sconces with oak boards I milled and didn't have a clue on how to wire the lights. This is really helpful! I'm going to look at your other instructionals. Thank You.
Thank you so much for this! One question, have you tried extending RGBIC type led strip? For example, I have a 32.8ft long RGBIC strip but I need another 6ft long to complete a loop. Can this be done or will it mess up the segmentation control?
I cut this led after that i though they will connect but its not now i don't know how to connect and there has no instructions. I don't have stuff to do that 😢
Could you please do a video on using these led strips on how to connect it to power source and switch for small projects like resin castings and minature diaramas?
hello Thank you for the great explanation. does any 6 pins connector work ? I noticed that the names of the 6 pins in your led strip are different than mine. is this important or does any 6 pins connector work with any 6 pins led strip?
How do I do this without the clips? I need an instructional video, pronto. I am a wasteful person and just would possibly rather order a whole replacement kit that I'll get in a day for some reason, if that, and if I have to wait 3 days for clips forget it. Forget going to physical stores. People in those.
at the 415 mark where you have the break of the strip in kitchen. That is what I will have with the window/sink. So if you cut it how does the other half light up if it is cut from the other side that is probably connected to the plug? Thanks
Great video, can you cut and extend all led strips, i have just purchased the tapo 930-10 but would like to extend to 12m. On their web it says can extend eith 4 pin extender, but box says not extendable
Where do you get thoes connectors I would like to cut and expand the strip in to different locations. And can you tell the gage of wire is being used to extend please ??
Can you please do a video on your Kitchen counter lights install (seen @4:20) and extension around the Cooker hood? This is exactly what I’m trying to do so would be appreciated. I am looking to see if I can continue the strip under the cooker hood itself as a better alternative to its own bulb light. But this would require perpendicular joint - not 90 degree one as you showed ?
Hi, you seem knowledgeable about this topic. I have a 25 meter led light strip. The first 15 meters work, but the remaining 10 meters don't light up. Is it possible i just cut the junction where it started to not light up then connect them again with a 4 pin connector? Or does the new 10 meters cut will require a new power controller? Thank you
If they don't make this, they should. An adhesive strip that looks just like the led strips, same dimensions but is nothing but 2 flat wires to connect smaller strips together. Do they make this?
Can this be done with individually addressable LED light strips or would that confuse the control device? I'm thinking in regards to WLED effects, etc.

And how disappointing it is when you think you cut, stick and have lights. Knew it was too good to be true
this is actually made for technicians who knows how to do it
@@christianraymundodelacruz7484 no it's not, if it was it would be sold in a specialty store. It's sold in Walmart, and Amazon. It's for consumers.

can you mismatch the colours between strips to get a 2 tone strip that syncs when fading/flashing etc. but has different colours?

Do I have to use a extender to finish the light strip or can I use extra light strip to finish the light strip?

What the heck. Great video straight to the point thank you!!!!!
is there a way to do corners without getting the clip?
you can take regular wire and solder it to the ends, since the wire is flexible. It's more work but you won't need the clips.
I just made a loop and continued. Then again, I did it behind my bed frame, so you’ll never see the loop. Depends on where you’re placing, I guess.

Can this be done with individually addressable LED light strips or would that confuse the control device?

Hey, would that work if i split a 5m individual addressable strip in 5 equals parts and use the connectors to extend them 2m apart from one another.?
I bought 5m and 10m led strip will it work proprrly if i combine it and use only one ac adapter 12v-1a?
My light strip says 12v at the cut point and is 3 pin. Does the hippo connector have to be specifically for 12V if it's a 3 pin hippo?
do i really need a connector to connect 2 strips that have sufficient amount of copper? cant i just tape two pieces together?
Can u do this on the leds from Amazon
I have some left over RGB strip light and I’m wanting to use it as a single colour. Can I just add two wires to the positive and the B terminals?
