Beginning on the night of Princess Diana’s death, this American TV biopic tracing five years in the goldfish bowl life of Prince William, from the shocking death of his mother to his teen years and his fight to dodge the paparazzi and meet girls.
It also examines the close relationship between William and his brother Harry, as well as their relationships with their father, Charles and grandmother,
Queen Elizabeth II.

Watching this film in 2021 felt very surreal......... I found it so very moving....... Prince William and Prince Harry are two wonderful young men, who were shared a very close bond and they seemed to have a lot of support and love from Prince Charles. It is heartbreaking that they are not as close today as they were then. I pray that with time, they will find their way back to each other..........
And not only that, can u imagen how difficult would be for prince William all the gossip in the tabloids now?
I am so glad I am a commoner without a penny in my pocket and no-one cares about my life.
they both will find each other, the bond between them both is to strong, not too, and they will do it without Kate and Megans help, Anna from Ireland.
There is a reason, for the distance between them! Charles wasn't man enough to fill the role he had been given, to be a loving husband and father, and one day he is to be👑 King!
And his mistress ,has stolen the rightful life that there Mother had a right too! Charles was living in ignorance, never seeing the blessings of a loving wife, and family! As the boys have had to live through the hurt of the loss of there Mother, and the dishonorable choice's there Father made ,never loving their Mother, instead he used her to give him heir's!
That would cause any family, to have distance! I blame Charles, if he loved Diana, and cherished his family none of this would of happened!

Prince William will be the first King of England in over 100 years & Kate will be his Queen. Princess Diana's legacy lives on in her son's, every decision William make's as King will be made with his mom in mind,as she was when he chose Kate to be his wife & the mother of his children.
I was staying with a friend in Kensington the day Princess Diana was murdered. I couldn't get anyway near St James Palace because of all the people from around the world who had come to pay their respects & express their shock, horror, disbelief and grief at the unnecessary loss of the people's Princess. The funny thing is that Diana had more royal blood in her than Prince Philip & Prince Charles put together.

Winston Churchill is in my family and he had a Royal funeral, even though he was just a statesmen!
I also believe Diana was murdered, because of the firm, they didn't want her having children with Doughty, and shortly after Diana's death he was with Camilla! It sickens me! And your right Diana had more roya blood in her then Charles, I recently watched Diana tell her story of her life, with the man who could help her with public speaking! It was sad to see her talk about Charles and Camilla, and how bizzare he was romantically! And in the bedroom. The Royals are not above God even though they think they are Charles seems to think he won't be judged by God ,for the sins he has committed over the years! 🙏🏻👑 Have you heard of the man who lives in Australia 🦘🌏 that would be the rightful King of England? Princess Diana was assasinated to save the Monarchy. And to fasciliate Bill Clintons retractment of the armament agreement of abolishing all landmines. Which he did on the 16th of september in Oslo, just 17 days after Princess Diana lie dead, in a cold grave. Thats why she was killed. She wouldnt have stopped at landmines, she would have continued with quests of abolishing biological and nuclear weapons.

A cry to heaven. That’s the most difficult thing these two boys had to endure. My heart goes out to them every time I think about Diana and her boys.

It is truly so sad . What these boys had to deal with. And, even now the pain. My heart goes out to both of them. It was nice to see this side.

They know nothing of starving, being homeless, having no heat or lights, no money for medicine etc. They will never be able to understand the real world. You did it on your own with your girls, they had support and help. The real world is nothing compared to their fantasy life.

I always thought that Prince William never had a time to really grieve. He was and is facing great responsibilities. And that is both sad and admirable.
Your right. I don't think either one of them did. I know Harry spoke out about what it did to his mental health but U never really hear William talk about it which is understandable. William did say when he becomes King he will give Diana back her title. He hides it well.

I think Diana would be very disappointed in their estrangement and would likely slap them them both aside their royal heads, insisting they come to their senses and make up. I'm also surprised and a bit disappointed that Kate has not done exactly that. I've imagined her being about as close to Di as William could have found.

It really is. My mom passed away in 2014, on Christmas day. When I look at pictures of her it takes my breath away when I realize that I will never see her again.

I was born less than a month before Prince William and I can't even imagine losing my mother especially at 15 yrs old and Prince Harry was just shy of 13.
I will never forget Princess Dianna and the day that she died. I did a couple of school projects on her in elementary school. she was a very kind and fascinating woman. those boys are better men because of her. RIP Princess Dianna. She will never be forgotten.
That goes to show that, no matter how privileged they are, their lives are nothing to be envious of. Their lives are like a gilded cage: all gold bars and nothing outside.

A moment in time was froze. After all these 2 have endured, my prayers, may these brothers find the peace within themselves and that their bond this film so beautifully captures is rebuilt.
So many others have lost their mother, does that make their pain any less because they aren't royal. NO it does not. These royals live a life that is not in the real world.
It doesn't matter the status or label, when a child loses a parent. There was more to my comment than that point. Regardless of age or any other minor detail, losing a parent is not easy for any child.

Wow this just popped up in my recommendations, I had not even heard of this prior. I think it was incredibly well done and really shed a light on the effects that their mothers death had had on them. Prince Will has grown into an amazing man, and I believe he will become a great King.
My heart just broke for those two boys. Unable to express the depth of their grief.

I knew nothing of this movie, but I'm certainly glad it came up on a recommended fed. I truly enjoy it and I think it was very well done. These boys whom are now young men have been through so much and you can't help sometimes, but wonder how much baggage these two boys still secretly carry with them even today. I feel what they went through no doubt will and has helped define them as parents to the next Generation of Royals and I also feel even though William and Harry are on different roads right now; one must have faith that through hope all things will work out. One day the boys will lay down their differences and come together united as brothers and stronger then ever. That is my prayer for these two young brothers anyway.❤

I remembered when this happened I watched it from the beginning to the end I hated when this took place because Prince William and Prince Harry had to grow up without their mum thanks for sharing this movie.
But they were so lucky to have her. She loved and took care of them in spite of all her emotional pain. She was w them till their teens and working toward giving them a fine future.
Most kids don't get that much even though their moms live till they're grown-ups.
As an old British lady I remember this so clearly . The Royal Family wanted to stay at Balmoral to surround the boys with love but we damn public wanted the Queen back as soon as possible because we were hurting and needed her presence . We blamed them for not coming back sooner . We weren't thinking about Diana's son's , we were focused on our own grief which was massive . Was it wrong was it right ? Grief doesn't exactly make you think clearly . Mistakes were made . Diana was hugely loved by the vast majority of Brits . And sadly now we have the whole Harry and Meghan thing going on .

But it took the boys to tell them that not showing any grief for there mother when the whole world was was upsetting them more. They wanted there mother to have what she deserved. A royal funeral, only fitting for the wonderful mother she had been to the future King of England. If you think about it if she had lived she would have been the kings mother and didnt the queens mother have a Royal funeral. They could have gone deeper into this Story about the years after the divorce they were forced to spend Christmases with the Queen without there mother. In time more will come out but while the Queen lives so many secrets go unsaid.

It was absolutely wrong- total selfishness. Nobody was grieving the way the boys were, and they were children.

Very true. Watching this in September'22 after finishing watching The Crown as King Charles IiI begins his reign. These are 'just" people born into positions dictating their lives in every way possible, faced with making decisions that break up relationships so to protect the integrity of the Monarchy. They have wealth, status, & power. Yet everything they do is scrutinized & their individuality often lost. Though I'd like to be more secure in my life, I wouldn't want their's.
That was fun ! It would be nice to believe they had that type of relationship !
Always moves me, 9 months prior and still a teenager I witnessed my mothers shock passing. It is a tough time no matter who you are.

This was the most difficult news that Prince Charles had to break to his sons. When I heard that Princess Diana had died, my first thoughts were for Princes William & Harry.
Mine, too. I thought, "How in the world will they get through this, and all while on public display?" William fared quite well, in all fairness, probably because as heir to throne, he received more attention than Harry. Surely, after Camillagate, HMTQ was determined to see William come through things as healthy and whole as possible for having lost his mother at such an early age. Everyone seems to sigh a breath of relief at how William and Katherine have come along. Harry seems to be the price paid for that. There's always a price to pay.

@@dawnmariemay8324 yes, and that is what has always left so many people suspicious about the circumstances surrounding Diana's death when the doctor who found her at the car crash scene said her injuries were not life threatening. Who stood to gain by Diana's death? Charles and Camilla diid. And the monarchy as a whole did. I will never forget how deplorable the masses came to think of Charles, no matter how much PR spin he has had thrown at the media. Those tapes of he and Camilla were rock bottom. Was he indifferent enough about the welfare of his sons to have their mother killed? Surely, many think so. Harry isn't cutting him any slack, and even William only seems to tolerate him as much as is necessary, perhaps always with some doubt in the back of his mind.

@SweetiePie Cakes My first thought, too. When I first saw that picture of Diana in nothing but a swimsuit embracing Dodi with a full on kiss, I thought, "she's done for," and just a few days later, she was.
It's a shame that these boys especially William had to hide the fact that he loved, missed and grieved for his mother. It is your duty to behave like human beings not robots insensitive to emotion. Princess Diana made sure her boys were normal kids. Imagine if she didn't do that? These boys would be like their father.
They weren't "normal" kids. Diana just let them have glimpses of what "normal" was, like taking them to a homeless shelter and an amusement park.
I hope that one days, these brothers can heal and cleave together

I still remember that night. I woke iupto the news. She was a beautiful person and missed by many still.
Princess Diana loved her children more than anything else in this world. A deep true love. You know they adored her. This had to be absolutely devastating and then to see and hear everyone else's opinion everywhere you look had to make it especially hard.
Very lovely film, and with just the right amount of antagonistic storyline. Which resolved itself in friendship. I remember these events as if they were yesterday, and I am not even from the UK. But us Europeans loved Diana, and we do love the young Princes, maybe not so much today, but then, we gave out hearts out to them at the loss of their Mum. This film was a surprise that popped up on my timeline, and I don't know why it did, but I am glad for it. Too bad the Film quality is really blurry. I am not even sure the film is available on DVD since its listed as BETAMAX - VHS - SUPER 8. Who knows. But what a lovely set of boys playing the brothers, and the bodyguard was a true gentleman, I hope he is still in William's life. I highly recommend watching this film!

When Tony called the classical music that was playing trash music and changed to rock music and said to Will that he could call him Tony. It says to me that he saw William as a normal teenager rather than a prince. Which showed that he cared about the way Diana wanted to raise her boys

1:20:00 makes me laugh so hard. "He may have seen this luncheon on my schedule" And the way Charles stiffled a laugh when William walks out. Telling his advisors "apparently that isn't how it works anymore".

They aren't stopping either. They have much more coming. Harry was spoiled beyond belief and his horrible behavior was always "taken care of". Sadly, he seemed to be coming into his own and then he met the worst nightmare narcissist. We were all fooled but the family knew what she was. They still did their very best to make her happy and look at the mess. Harry doesn't smile and is dead in the eyes. He didn't look like that when he was with his family. There will never be a reconciling. They cannot be trusted. Imagine inviting only the biggest celebrities that you've never even met to your wedding, leaving out all your family but 1! Really, that says it all.

Ugh where was this at?!?! TH-cam you’re just now suggesting this?! I can’t imagine what those two beautiful boys went throughout the grieving process of their mother and the nations princess. I am Williams age… I can’t imagine how difficult portaging an image and keeping a stone face felt while you just want to be wrapped in your mothers arms. I still see Harry’s struggles and it shows with the actress sadly. My heart goes out to them. Love and light, remember you two are all you have in this world and if you don’t have each other you have NOTHING. 💙🕊

This movie gave me a deeper respect for Charles.
Sophie Wessex, the Queen's daughter-in-law said that she finally talked the Queen into Watching The Crown with her but that the Queen interrupted the movie every couple of minutes to say "that's a lie. no, it didn't happen like that, that's wrong" or things of that sort. After all, it is the Queen's life and she knows what happened. For this reason I have no interest in watching the Crown.

The Queen did watch the first season and enjoyed it, yes, every few seconds she did interrupt saying that’s a lie. But she liked the first season, however she did not like season 2 because of how Phillip was portrayed, especially with the scene in the airplane where he was insensitive to Charles. She said that never happened. And everyone royal insider panned season 4. They said the portrayal of Charles was highly inaccurate.

She loved him. And he tried to love her, but they were much too far apart in age and were together only a handful of times before they got married. He was actually dating her sister Kitty originally.

I wish William and Harry had people who advised them as siblings not royals. If they did I'm almost sure the situation with Harry and Meghan would have been handled better, totally differently.
Prince Philip cared for princess diana and tried to help her. I felt like I was having a nightmare my daughter couldn't stop crying for weeks, we can never feel the way William and harry feel. I lost my mum when I was 3 and my dad at 25.
So I know pain of losing my mum at a young age I can't even remember her I am now 62 boys and still my heart aches never blame your mum during as an excuse for your bad behaviour its not good.
You have to respect your family at all times it's no good blaming them for their mistakes bringing up children doesn't come with a manual.
NO one is perfect they do there best to love and care for us, harry now is still so bitter about his mums death but until he faces up to her dieing he will always be angry and that's healthy.
My brother died when he was 21 so I do know how hard it is losing people at an early age

This does not excuse his disrespect for Diana..but we all want to be with the one we love...even Charles.
Although i'm a Diana fan..the marriage was arranged to produce an heir and I'm not surprised how the marriage ended. He's always loved Camilla and Diana was aware of this from the start. I wished he loved Diana the same.We can't help whom we fall in love with.Not taking sides..just being realistic.

You do not love when you treat a person the way he treated Diana. The only reason he acted sad was because of the kids. Him and Camilla I will never like. And not the queen mother either. Rest in Peace Diana , you will always be missed and she would have been proud of her children.
