The other day you mentioned that the Secret Service in the US is responsible for investigating money counterfeiting crimes on the Casual Criminalist, which made me think of DeBardeleben. He was a prolific counterfeiter, so much so that the Secret Service gave him a nickname: "the mall passer". When they finally caught and arrested him, the Secret Service agents found a lot more than counterfeit money. Together with the FBI he was charged with a whole litany of crimes (he wasn't even prosecuted for most of them). I bought magic spoon once, it never got to my place, they claimed it was delivered but the email notification I got was 6 hours after the supposed arrival time in the email and I was home that day. Maybe a Possible Megaprojects, or Sideprojects topic for you), British Satellite Broadcasting, or BSB for short, predates BskyB, they were the guys with the Squarial, which you'll be a little young to remember, they used these square, flat-plate antennas, their own satellites and receivers to transmit a "proper British satellite service" to the UK, and of course being British and government backed, it cost them too much to run, the equipment was expensive, they had to build their own TV studios, record their own TV shows, AND, they had to build and launch THEIR OWN SATELLITES!!! All thanks to the government's Independent Broadcasting Authority (which also ruled over ITV and Channel 4) insisting everything was done in-house!!! Whereas the murdoch empire, I mean SKY (in big letters at the time) just rented space on the Astra satellites via Germany instead, funded initially through adverts then later a small subscription fee and let people use any old satellite box at the time to watch their channels, and then after BSB ran into unsurprising financial difficulties, later bought up BSB, "merging" (I.E. completely taking over and selling off all the BSB infrastructure) into BskyB, and becoming the monopoly satellite provider for the UK we all know and despise today... :P

I remember being confused, because the witch seemed to actually turn Bigbird into a feather duster, and then while she was still holding the feather duster, he entered the scene. I don't remember it being particularly scary. They did have some messed up thimgs on Sesame Street, in those days though.

The one thing about Snuffy's parent's divorce is that it was accurately portrayed in that both kids and Snuffy were clueless why it was happening and they probably would have dealt with a kid's view of it in later episodes.

It's not THAT uncommon to make changes after a pilot airs. "The A-Team" changed the actor playing Faceman after the pilot. "Otherworld" and "Galactica 1980" also did.
I bought magic spoon once, it never got to my place, they claimed it was delivered but the email notification I got was 6 hours after the supposed arrival time in the email and I was home that day. It never showed up and every time I tried emailing magic spoon about it they either sent me an email saying to wait a few days or an email saying how great their ceo is.
I had to email them several times about a refund and only got one when I threatened litigation.

I watched Allo Allo as a child and my mum wasnt to keen on the concept, but my dad and i were in stitches even if some felt its completely unsuited for children , but i still know my history and the atrocities commited, but damn its a genious show and i remember it fondly..

Oh nononononooooo Simon (and this is a long one!!! Maybe a Possible Megaprojects, or Sideprojects topic for you), British Satellite Broadcasting, or BSB for short, predates BskyB, they were the guys with the Squarial, which you'll be a little young to remember, they used these square, flat-plate antennas, their own satellites and receivers to transmit a "proper British satellite service" to the UK, and of course being British and government backed, it cost them too much to run, the equipment was expensive, they had to build their own TV studios, record their own TV shows, AND, they had to build and launch THEIR OWN SATELLITES!!! All thanks to the government's Independent Broadcasting Authority (which also ruled over ITV and Channel 4) insisting everything was done in-house!!! Whereas the murdoch empire, I mean SKY (in big letters at the time) just rented space on the Astra satellites via Germany instead, funded initially through adverts then later a small subscription fee and let people use any old satellite box at the time to watch their channels, and then after BSB ran into unsurprising financial difficulties, later bought up BSB, "merging" (I.E. completely taking over and selling off all the BSB infrastructure) into BskyB, and becoming the monopoly satellite provider for the UK we all know and despise today... :P
And yes, I should have waited before posting that 'til Simon got the note about BSB abd Sky merging and realising the two were separate, still, BSB is an interesting topic of a major failure of british governmental patriotism and money wasting............. :P

I remember the wicked witch episode. I'm fairly sure that I saw it more than once. Sesame Street might have been broadcast twice a day though, and that would explain it. I remember being confused, because the witch seemed to actually turn Bigbird into a feather duster, and then while she was still holding the feather duster, he entered the scene. I don't remember it being particularly scary. They did have some messed up thimgs on Sesame Street, in those days though.

OK I love all of the classic Memes but I wish there were some new ones sprinkled in.
