this is an excellent example of vinyl wrapping! Thank you so much for posting this! I don't think I'm going to be fully wrapping much, but it gives me a good idea of how to work with contoured objects.
Just a thought, but since the intent of this video is to be instructional, maybe next time avoid the annoying music and explain what you are doing, materials used, etc. Other than that, very nice job.
this blue tape is 3M tape for car painting and this red stripe is the same vinyl as the white or black one witch i used in helmet wrap, just cutted 5mm thin. Hope my answer will help you.
The Blue tape is fine line masking tape, comes in a variety of thicknesess, the red is fine line edging tape. 3M is the better fine line tape, has good adhesive properties. I've been a custom painter for years and swear by 3m, its not just a marketing gimmick, it really is the best stuff.
What kind of vinyl wrap should I look for? Do the car wraps work on helmets or is it a special wrap for helmets? Will the VViViD+ Premium Vinyl Wrap Film work?
Hello. ViVid is more for USA market and as i know - cheap one. Best is Avery and 3M. car wrap film is used for helmets too, there is no special material specific to helmets only.
What an amazing video. I am inspired! I noticed that a lot of the commentators have a lot of the same question, regarding tape, material, etc. Any chance you might consider posting tools, material, even brands in the description section?
it is possible. But.... Depending on the outcome you are looking for . design and such doing it in sections is a huge time saver and frustration saver. But with the right vinyl you can do it.
It's fine line tape... but you would be better off using knifeless tape. It takes a LOT of practice to cut through the vinyl without cutting into the helmet's graphic/paint. Knifeless tape is the same size, but cuts the vinyl from below, so it is impossible to cut into the helmet.
What a missed opportunity!! You could make millions prepping motorcycle helmets for NFL Logos and markings!! Especially Niner Seahawk Eagle and Cowboy helmets. How could you not know this??
After watching the pros do it, You use the heat gun way to much. I know its hard wrapping a helmet with only the 1 person. At least you wore a glove like most youtube wrappers that do not. But you still did a nice looking wrap.
This video should be titled "How to make a sweet helmet look blah" sorry but all of my local shops sell black, grey and silver. Nothing with cool designs and color. I am curious of the materials used and would have liked an explanation of the techniques used in the video tho cause all kidding aside it did turn out cool I just liked it better before.

no, you must use industrial heatgun - when everything is done you must heat the vinyl around 90 degrees celsius to prevent unsticking.

I vinyl wrapped my 30oz Yeti tumbler. Came out pretty good.
Sir great video and you are a try master. I don't think anyone else could do it as well as you have done. A great result.
Cheers Kym
wrapping is faster and you dont need to wait till paint is drying. + after you can easy remove foil and you got your'e previous design.
maris auksmuksts but they look like crap!
of course!!! thats why we wrap over this crap and make design as customer wants!
maris auksmuksts but impossible to wrap a helmet in one piece.
Hi, can you tell me al the materials and tools that you used in this video, please?
Thanks for the helpful video bro! Much appreciated.
awesome job!
Thanks! Helped me a lot
Nicely done!

What did u use what type of vinyl sorry my baby has a lid and i want to do a different colour x
I suggest 3M 2080 or Avery supreme. Both materials ar made for car wrapping/detailing.
Nice job, but why didn't you use knifeless tape? Seems like that would have made the job a lot easier.
I love knifeless tape. Has saved me on many occasions. Looking forward to someone bringing out a cheapo version though
in that time knifeless tape was not made yet i think :) or we just didnt know about that. now ofcourse we almoust dont work without knifeless..
you make it look so easy lol
Deadly😆 lovely job man fair play to ye.
Do you have to do it in three separate pieces or would you be able to do an entire helmet in one piece?
I like! congratulations
interesting video but when u use a rasor u dont risk damaging the oroginal helmet paint??
It is the best way to cut off the extra wrap and if you are carefull enough you wont damage it
What an amazing video. I am inspired!

I am looking into doing vinyl wrapping a motorcycle helmet and I was wondering how much vinyl wrap did it take for you to wrap yours?
Can you use this technique on wrapping a softball helmet
Yes, easy!
You done a great job !! what vinyl are you using ?
ey friend ! good job!!
how much vinyl do u used?
thanks!
This is a bit late but what is the name of that red tape you used at the end? I keep searching vinyl tape but all I get is electricians tape...
Usual 3M 50series cutted 0,5cm wide stripe
Nice work. I was wondering what kind of tape you used and if the blue and red were the same type?
This was some kind of tape you can buy in car paint shop. Very elastic and easy to work with.
nice work bro..can u used 1pice only n cover all full helmet?
Yes, but it is tough to do so and it very depends of the design and shape of helmet.
This red is just usual 3M 1080 cutted stripe 0,5cm wide
real nice
Is it possible to wrap the whole helmet in 1 sheet? Is that theoretically possible or will it always have to be multiple pieces?
it is possible. But.... Depending on the outcome you are looking for . design and such doing it in sections is a huge time saver and frustration saver.
But with the right vinyl you can do it.
whats that blue tie string you put on the helmet where can i get it?
Nice job bro. Bet it took awhile to get that down right.
is this vinyl durable and can it be used on a football helmet?
Is this normal sign vinyl or something special please?
what the name/kind of BLUE TAPE you used?
It's fine line tape... but you would be better off using knifeless tape. It takes a LOT of practice to cut through the vinyl without cutting into the helmet's graphic/paint. Knifeless tape is the same size, but cuts the vinyl from below, so it is impossible to cut into the helmet.
what would you charge to do something like that?
What is the tape that your using?
thank's
Could I use a hair dryer instead of the torch?
+Ronan Passmore depending on the hair dryer it might not generate enough heat
no. its too cold. must use industrial.
what do you clean the helmet with at first ?
Spray cleaner!
yeah! it was hard :) now with 3M CV2 its three times easier and faster.
Can you wrap a helmet with any Oracal vinyl or must it be the 9000 series? :)
nice video TY
whould it work with chrome vinyl as well?
color shouldn't matter, it's still vinyl
!you are my hero¡
:)
does it work with hairdryer?
Yes it does...As long as it can heat to 90 degrees celsius to prevent the vinyl from creeping back to its original size and shape. :-)
kalok full bisa gak?
around 0,5m2
material of the gloves ?
I took regular cotton gloves in home depot. If you are buying special vinyl wrap gloves from the same material it will be 3 times the price.
what is the name of that gun
Bob!
Just buy the cheapest in home depot.
very nice .. ;)
That looks like a right pain in the arse to do
It was indeed. That time we were using some oracal 9000...
can i wrap without machine ?
What do you mean by machine? If heatgun then no - material must be soft to stretch.
What a missed opportunity!! You could make millions prepping motorcycle helmets for NFL Logos and markings!! Especially Niner Seahawk Eagle and Cowboy helmets. How could you not know this??
in my country with wrapping you cant earn almoust nothing.
After watching the pros do it, You use the heat gun way to much. I know its hard wrapping a helmet with only the 1 person. At least you wore a glove like most youtube wrappers that do not. But you still did a nice looking wrap.
Thank you - and yes, this time needed to heat little bit more so foil stays warm enough time, plus this was thick one as i remember.
Does anyone have any idea what a job like this would cost?
This was circa 50usd that time. Job and material.
Sorry - customers design choice.
The music couldn’t get worse.
Yap, before was different but youtube put some restrictions so we just picket something to not be mute at all :)
Noooo, leave the blue dividing pinstripe, it looks better.
What a pain in the entire ass.
Hmmmm.....with a name like Maris Auksmuksts, I wonder if the reason the guy did not explain what he was doing was he doesn't speak English. Maybe?
easier to paint! and you went with ONE color - if you wanted it to have a matching graphic?? nope
That looks like a pain in the Ass I'd rather paint it
best way to wrap a helmet...find a helmet painter and have him PAINT IT!! wraps are lame!
