    This is a more realistic video of what I can expect, yours is one of many videos that I have viewed! The others video show clean and easy dissassembley, something I have yet to experience yet. Thanks for the reality check!

      lol...I hear yeah...
      I'm just regular Joe who doesn't like getting ripped off by taking thier vehicle to a dealer for repairs.
      No special tricks here. :)

    Yeah I'll opt for the lower control arm w/ ball joint & new bushings Thanks for the vid and I'm glad my F150 under-carriage is much cleaner then yours and most YT vids I've seen

      Lower control arm = $435 from a Canadian dealer.
      Ball joint $45.
      My labour = $0.00/hour
      Dealer = $120.00/hour
      Agreed....20 hours was nuts. But the next one will be a lot less...hopefully. :)
      Canadian under carriages are the same.

      Yessir. I am a mechanic/shop manager so I may see things a little one sided sometimes. Good job though man.

    You can hit the ball joint down wit a big hammer it will come out way faster thats how i take them out

      I was very hesitate to do that ... just in case I had to put back together.

    17:50 I thought the same thing but it’s actually putting all the pressure on the large flange on the ball joint the clip is to hold it from falling out when the tire is off the ground

    Just a word of advice. Please wear safety goggles, especially around flying rust. Great job!

    My 09 is in the shop now for upper and lower. They priced it for 1400.00 but I simply couldn't attempt it in the driveway and it's my primary transportation and I see it's not a simple Job. IDK if they replace the lower control arm or just the joint?

      Replacing the lower control arm would've been easier. But the dealer in Ontario Canada wanted $425 for one side! nope not for me.

    Why did you change out the upper control arm

    • @InTheGarge
      @InTheGarge  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't want go through the effort again to change the ball joint...and from what I remember it wasn't that much more $$$ so I bought the arm. Much less effort. :)

    If your truck was engineered as you suggested at 18:50, which deafly defies reasoning, you would be an instant fatality. Thanks for vid, though.

    Wow......Was all that worth it to not have a professional do it? Listen man if you had no choice I get it, but maybe next vehicle go with a focus or something smaller and cheaper to operate. I didn't sit through the whole thing but I want to say this, if you really feel that everyone else on the road with you will be safe then go for it, but there's no reason other than $$$ that you should play a guessing game with safety. As I said before it's not your safety that I'm concerned with, it's everyone else. You can get mad at me and that's fine, but I drive the same vehicle but due to someone watching a TH-cam video on brakes and thought they could do it my truck got crashed into, plus I'm a certified mechanic and shop mgr. Just think about it.

      true...nextime I'm buying the entire control arm. It was a major PITA.

      😂 you're crazy if you think ppl have to go to a shop for "safety reasons" that's a scam. Shops these days just want to push cars through and make a buck, they have inexperienced techs doing jobs they shouldn't be doing unsupervised and you have cars hitting the road without thread locker, cotter pins, under torqued because using a damn torque wrench takes so much extra effort. Just the other day a guy was in line in front of me at Walmart wanting to talk to a manager because the tech had shorted his vehicle a whole quart the day before on an oil change.

      🤣🤣🤣 Someone's mad their shops profits have plummeted due to these types of videos. Maybe reduce the shops outrageous markups; and people may re-think the at home repair.
