      Hardly. Most of the defense deal are put on hold. Only non defense trade with hiccup are going on This happened because US meddled in India internal matter Even space joint project of NISAR satellite launch is pending for long time and still put on hold for this reason

    "India has secured contracts" sounds wrong, it's more like "US is trying to secure contracts from India". The language used, sounds condescending like you are saying "You are lucky that you are buying stuff from us, in return of $20 billion but still we are gora sahab and you shall be grateful"

    • @Constantin_91

      exactly. it's not as though their weapons are 'invincible' or some kind of 'wonder weapons' as can be seen in an ongoing conflict in eastern europe.

    • @Aerrow62

      Secured contracts is the correct statement. It means they came to an agreement that was both commercially viable as well as politically supported. Its not condescending but simply an acknowledgement of the effort that goes into negotiating and legal paperwork through two of the densest bureaucracies in the world. It's used for private deals as well: "secured contract", "secured mining contract", etc.

    • @QuickCS

      @@Aerrow62 While I agree with all the efforts that goes into negotiations, "India has secured contracts" is not the correct way to phrase it. Check any news on "secured a contract", its always the seller who secures the contract from a buyer. But the tone of the statement "India has secured contracts for us- made defense equipment" is condescending. Also the video has a general tone like "how great the us defense equipments are how India is lucky to get them." You are free to have your opinion, not trying to change your views, just posting my impression of the video.

    • @Aerrow62

      @@QuickCS You are taking the wrong context. The contract in question is not simply a matter of purchase but that of joint production. In the context, it is accurate. India floated tenders to which OEMs made offers. However since HAL wants manufacturing technology, it's HAL that secures the contract to acquire technology. In case of Rafale fighters, French firm Rafale secures the contact with India in a competitive bid. This is generally not a national issue (in commercial sense) as it's usually between corporate entities.
      As for the quality, US defence equipment is high quality and that's exactly why the IAF wants them. They are high tech low maintenance and highly available. That's a fact. You are probably reading into things which doesn't exist.

    • @QuickCS

      @@Aerrow62 I am not reading into anything that doesn't exist, you don't know me, so don't assume. The transfer of Technology for the engines is just one billion dollar deal, while the statement says India secures contract for us made defense equipment worth $20 billions. As for you saying IAF wanting US equipment, that's not been declared by IAF . IAF wants equipment that meets India's Requirement, period. The video is more like an ad for US equipment and India is shown as if, we are desperate at the doors of US to get their shiny all mighty equipment. Also,........ never mind, you are set in your mind to assume a particular point of view, and I don't care enough, to wanting to change it. Have a good day.
