Ian McDiarmid really agreed to come back to the series without knowing what he got himself into. It’s a shame; he played one of the most memorable characters in the previous films and this movie is almost a stain on the previous ones.
Ian was brought in very late. They had a very different script involving Anakin, Vader, etc. Disney panicked and wanted a popular villain and called him up. Thing that just annoys me the most is that Disney was like "We aren't going to use any of the 'legends' material, were going to make our own story. Woah she just straight up lied about George not writing in screenplays for eps 7-9. There is evidence online that he did it and Disney just threw it in the trash
Notice from 5:54 throughout the rest of that interview segment, there's not a smirk or even an ironic smile on their faces. Daisy begins with, "As an actor, it's such a joy..." and yet she shows none of the emotion she claims. Obviously, press tours can be harrowing, but just check out the Rock and Kevin Hart promoting Jumanji and there's a major difference. That room is dead and I feel as though it's been a common mood throughout the past two films. Good riddance.
Well to be fair she said "it's joyful to be constantly employed." As in she likes getting paid and that's about it. That's the only bright side to that job
I just lost interest when they killed off luke skywalker. They bait you with luke Skywalker then show him at the end of one movie then what feels like fifteen minutes in another. No reason to watch the last movie no luke no emotional attachment to the other characters. I tried but i just couldn't get attached for some reason. The closest character that was good was Finn as his motivations make perfect sense.
Because all of the new characters are written in such a boring way. Many of them lack actual character development, and it makes them seem one dimensional and flat. I dont think this is the actors' fault.
Jason Richter i mean from what im hearing a lot of people kept trying to go in different directions with the story . Both oarties had great ideas but decided on a compromise. Meaning neither side got to tell the story they wanted and because of that both sides tell half a story leaving a mixed up story that leaves neither side happy. Of course the actors picking checks are going to be like chaching it was great see ya.
I think it makes sense for both of those characters to die and pass the torch. The problem is that their deaths are implemented poorly, and don't really do anything to change the character of the new cast. So they wasted all the dramatic potential.
TBH all the actors were way too good. I mean, they were so good they duped all of us into thinking that TFA was good and the rest of the movies would be too. Unfortunately, no amount of good acting can cover up the soullessness festering on the inside.
I think it’s good based on what we got for the other movies but if they did things differently and didn’t fuck up in the first place jj wouldn’t have to rush to get a script done
I feel sorry for daisy, she's got good acting chops but has been stuck as this one dimensional marry sue, I would say I was sorry for carrie but she probably had a blast regardless of the movie being a crap fest, having her there was probably the highlight of making it for most involved, would have been amazing hearing her tear ryan jonson a new one

They were all thrown under the bus. Poe was made into a stereotype (an angry drug smuggler, fucking really?) Rey's breakout female Jedi became absorbed and vanished into this weird sexual tension with Kylo Ren (in a kid's movie about heroism, not forgiving fascists!) and of course Rose and Jannah were criminally underused, but man - I will NEVER be over how horrific they were to Finn, and John Boyega. Finn was the Han Solo/Luke amalgamation and after Force Awakens he was practically set dressing. A disgrace. It's the Kylo Trilogy, even though the man has killed billions and every single member of the original trio. What a waste of great actors.
The sad thing is, is they are ALL incredible actors. If only Disney had a plan from the beginning they all would of been given a BEAUTIFUL chance to shine with Finn's arc from being a stormtrooper to a rebel and it turns out SPOILERS FOR TROS he's force sensitive! Poe for being the next General for the Resistance!SPOILERS Rey being the granddaughter of Palpatine. Kylo Ren resembling Jacen Solo from legends. This trilogy would of been beautiful if worked on properly. I don't blame JJ Abrams for the failure of this trilogy. He had a good set up for TFA. TROS was just to pleasure a few fans. I didn't believe it was a proper way to end the Skywalker saga. But I do blame this trilogy on those who didn't plan this trilogy out thoroughly.
One of the problems was that Carrie Fisher died, so they had to rewrite Episode IX around that. The other problem was that Rian Johnson wrote Episode VIII as a standalone movie that disregards a lot of previous material, which makes it great for critics but horrible for longtime fans. Given these two conditions, their hands were tied for Episode IX. Sure it could have been better, but probably not by much. There's only so much you can salvage.
That's really the main problem with this trilogy. No direction, no idea of the themes or messages it wanted to convey, no planning, no story arc, no character arcs. I don't blame JJ Abrams and I don't blame Rian Johnson, Rian is actually a competent director when he knows what he's doing, he just didn't know wtf he was doing with TLJ, at which point he should have been removed simply because he didn't know what he was doing, but as we all know that didn't happen. I also don't know how much I purely blame Kathleen Kennedy or Bob Iger... I don't think anyone knew wtf was going on in this series. And that was the problem.
@ 3:00 You know it's bad when all three of the lead actors in the trilogy are happy that their time is over and have NO hesitation to say nope when asked of they'd consider a return or a Disney plus show . I love Oscar 😂😂
Luke, Leia, and Han as our main heroes Darth Vader as our main villain, amazing secondary characters. Anakin, Padme, and Obi-Wan as our heroes Palpatine as our main villain, again with amazing secondary characters. The new movies had Rey and Kylo as our.. villain, hero? Finn falling somewhere in the middle of a lead and a secondary? And our main villain?? Snoke? Palatine again?? And I honestly don’t even remember the names of the two new girls. These movies were a mess. (Edit) I also forgot to add Poe’s character but do I really need to? You can throw a dart and that’s where he fits.
Disney = “1000% we’re done with Skywalker stuff. We don’t wanna do anymore Skywalker stuff. Skywalker stuff is over.” Change Rey’s name to Skywalker at the of the movie. WTF!?
2:53 - Oscar Isaac was a huge Star Wars fan. He was eager to play Poe, who was originally going to die but he wanted to continue the character. AFTER the sequels are said and done, he can't distance himself further from it if they offered him a Disney+ show. And you know it's not because it's a streaming show - he's in Moon Knight and coming back for Moon Knight season 2. He's so disappointed. We're all right there with you, Oscar.

Like it would have been cool if there was some arc where Finn tried to find his parents or something idk.
Like Shia Labeauf in Transformers. „Optimus“. Lol

@@prisonmike1448 he actually has a cameo in Episode II as one of the patrons at the bar that Obi-Wan and Anakin chase Zam into.
He's stated in numerous interviews as far as he knew Palps was dead and he would not return. I just finished two videos with more details on these topics.

I feel like he was the best part of the film. Ian McDiarmid is always has been so fun in this franchise. I agree the story of bringing Palpatine back was horrible idea all round but the execution was good.
Ornicopy They'd just recast the part if he said no. Better to get paid and trashed than just trashed. Same for Billy Dee.
Fun fact: senate is an anagram for treason and treason is an anagram for senate
He gave a great performance, but he really should have said no to coming back at all.

@『Platnum Breaker』 what did disney have to do with fallen order?
All they did was make sure they followed the new, shitty lore, and said no to dismemberement.

Honestly I think one major factor of Daisy being over it was because she wasn't for Reylo and we all know what happened.
I remember an early interview in Spring 2019 and she shot down the idea. I guessed things changed during the reshoots over the summer.

Jese Rocchild It was over when she said that.
For me it was when Solo died, there wasn't any lead up to it.
I think it makes sense for both of those characters to die and pass the torch. The problem is that their deaths are implemented poorly, and don't really do anything to change the character of the new cast. So they wasted all the dramatic potential.
not to mention they showed him creeping up to assassinate his innocent nephew before having 'second thoughts'

the best thing about British accents is that you can tell so easily when they're being sarcastic or disingenuine.
A disgrace.

this is beyond great lmfao
『Platnum Breaker』 You are completely correct. With a well laid out plan these movies could of been absolutely gorgeous.
SPARTAN-501 starting IX with Leia’s funeral would have been decent.
And that was the problem.
tell ya what, Finn had potential to be a good and memorable character but they grabbed him by the face and dragged him over a shit diaper
