haha Thank you so much x3 My hope is that if people need to know this device, they can find a tutorial that can help them! It was really hard for me to find stuff myself when first starting out >.< I know I could definitely do much better production wise. But balancing this art project with all my others that I do, I think this project turned out alright :D
Nice JOB Brad! How about making unique or simple sound design (like bass sounds, alien sound etc), It will very helpful to many begginers-intermediate loopers😀 best of luck :D (I didn't expect you brought MK2 :O)
I didn't expect to get an MK2 either XD I like my MK1 so much better though lol But I'll get on the mark 2 soon enough and really dive into it. Unique sounds are a good idea :) I sorta did that when I made a bunch of youtube shorts back in May. You can see the full video with all of them here: th-cam.com/video/-OGRgdV88II/w-d-xo.html You can also check out any of the Effects tutorials to see cool unique sounds within each effect :) It works with both devices so it should give you some simple ideas to play around with ^_^ Hope those help! :D
That would depend on which effect. I would recommend going into the FX menu (tap the button thats above the FX A-D on the left side, then tap the FX you want louder) and adjusting the E. Level of that FX. Often time the E. Level parameter can be changed by the knob. So turning it to the far right will make the FX louder than your input sound. Balance is another common parameter that will make the FX louder than your voice. Hope that helps :)
You'll see a button above each of the A,B,C,D buttons called "Edit/Bank". Push that button first, then the letter you want to change. Say you wanna change Input FX B from LPF to Transpose. Tap the Edit/Bank button once on the left side. Then tap the B button on the left side. You'll see the menu change on the screen in the middle. From there, the knob bellow the screen on the far left will change the FX. You can see me change the Track FX A at 0:14 in this video, demoing exactly that :)
Hey! Very cool video. I have a question, I'm trying to initiate pan left and right but, it doesn't not do panning no matter if I set it too far left or right I'm just getting the audio straight from both speakers.. Also, where did you get those awesome stickers and customized buttons etc??😊
To the button/sticker question, I talk about it in this video: th-cam.com/video/4G8U5xB_cl8/w-d-xo.html To the pan question, my first thought is, are you transmitting in mono or stereo? Cause if the signal is transporting in mono, that would create the error you're experiencing :) Does your pan work if you use headphones? Also, if you want more help with the Pan, Ive made a whole tutorial on just that effect here: th-cam.com/video/1u5VAofMAFo/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps >w
Very nice tutorials, thank you! I'm just not sure I'm understanding properly...from your chart, in the MK1 there is no REV no DELAY on 2 channels effects out of 3, is that correct? It seems to me very strange... I also have a question, I'm going to by this Loop station for looping but also very crucial to me is to play around with effects...does it worth to buy the MK2 rather than the MK1, effects wise? thank you very much!!!
Im glad you liked the tutorials ^w^ To answer your first question, you are correct. There is only a Delay on IFX and TFX B and C. None on A. You are reading that chart correctly :) They did this because of hardware limitations at the time. The MK2 has every effect on every channel though, A-D. To answer your other question, I have a video that answers exactly that :D You can watch it here: th-cam.com/video/5gd_pm3lIUI/w-d-xo.html Feel fre to ask any more questions over there ^_^
That's a great question :D You are correct, there is no autotune effect on either device. Here is how to do the effect on each though. The MK1 you can use the Robot effect. You can see an example on my example track at the end of this(th-cam.com/video/lp6ChPhVedE/w-d-xo.html ) video. I describe this specific technique in this(th-cam.com/video/-OGRgdV88II/w-d-xo.html ) video when I talk about the Robot. Another way is to use a Vocoder, which you can learn about in this(th-cam.com/video/l-4-XHNfotY/w-d-xo.html ) video :) On the MK2, you can watch this(th-cam.com/video/-nl2_75qlns/w-d-xo.html ) video to see how Mocadium is using it to perfection. If you scroll down to the comments section, to the pinned comment, you will see a few replies. One of those is me XD Mocadium responds to my comment with how they did the vocals there. If you want a quick tip for MK2 users, try Auto Harmony effect with the D. Level set to 0. Have the Harmony set to Unison and the Key set to the key of your song. You can add an Electric on top or bottom to play with the "Autotune like" sound. Hope that helps with your journey :D
Hi Brad, thank you very much for your tutorial, it’s great. Could you please send me your Adobe Illustrator pattern for the rc505mk2 looper sticker. that would be really nice.
Effect sheets? I have two things I think you could be referring to. First is the guides, or "Playgue Charts" for the effects. Like charts that break down what every Dynamic Type does, every Slicer Pattern visualized, every note the Delays can make, how the Beat Scatter breaks chops up your loop, etc. Those can be found in their respective tutorials :) Like the EQ preset chart for various EQs you can use for what sounds is found in the EQ tutorial, Granular Delay notes are in the Granular Delay tutorial, Filter notes, Filter tutorial, etc. You can also see the list of every Playgue Chart in this (th-cam.com/video/4G8U5xB_cl8/w-d-xo.html ) video near the end. Although I don't explain how to use them in that video, just show them. Second is my parameters guide. Like the list of effects used on the tracks that I perform and their parameters. That video is finished but not released yet :) I'm waiting for Lennard to give me the go ahead to post it because it will have a Move With E tutorial in it. But he has something special he is cooking up >:3 But I can't talk about that yet so subscribe to his channel so you can see it when it comes out :D
Brad, are you also gonna do a cleaning tutorial for the RC 505 MKII? I mean, it probably doesn't make sense to given you have one for the mk1, but just a question ❤
You can use the same tutorial to clean them both :) All of the same techniques and tips apply because they are both made out of the same materials and the same shape :) On that note, most of my tutorials can be applied to the MK1 and the MK2! Try some of them out and see what you come up with ^_^
Maybe at some point I will do a cool trick vid for just MK2 ^_^ But I have to learn the device more so I can give accurate info :) As far as custom loopstation, I made it myself :D I created a template that lets me put anything I want as a sticker haha I talk about how in this tutorial: th-cam.com/video/4G8U5xB_cl8/w-d-xo.html
Can we preset our choices of effect? If so how many presets ?and will they be saved in the device or do I have to set every time I open the loopstation?
This is correct :) You can save up every FX change you make in any given memory! When your done with your changes, push the Exit and Enter buttons at the same time to save the changes to your memory! You can have up to 99 memories saved :D I would recommend watching this (th-cam.com/video/ZZ2YwHGcrHc/w-d-xo.html ) tutorial to help you more with setting up your loop :) I use an MK1 in it, but all the same stuff applies to the MK2.
Some of them are making their own tutorials already :) Since I don't own the rights to their songs, I can't teach the track without permission first so I would have to ask the artists ^_^
@@Brad_the_Wizard I've only found 5 full song tutorials with all the effects lists. Also paying for Mr. Esuoh's tutorials, but his are advanced level with all the assigns.

Sorry in advance, as I'm sure this is a stupid question. I have a Boss RC-505 mk2, and have never used the FX feature, so I'm trying to learn about it (from scratch as a total complete noobie). I've tried reading the manual as well as the parameter guide, but when I try what's there, it's not working (I'm trying to use the Input FX feature, not Track FX). I've tried TH-cam, but I can't find any videos breaking things down as a step-by-step intro-do-this kinda thing. I even bought Ben Rowlands "505 mk2 Ultimate Guide" course, and can't find it there, either (not so 'ultimate' if you ask me... and yes, I've emailed him asking for help... no response yet). Do you have a link to a video demonstration of an "Input FX 101"/"Input FX for Dummies" type of thing? Sorry again for asking a seemingly simple question, but I have tried to find it on my own. (I should also add if there's some kind of settings set up in the 505 mk2 that I need to make sure are in place, I need help there, too).
Not a stupid question at all :D People come with all kinds of skill levels :) I started somewhere too haha ^w^ I wanna make sure Im understanding your needs first. In a way, this video is a "Input FX 101" video. I talk about what the sequencer does and how to use it, what the menu on the left means and does, as well as describing every effect you can use. Basics of this devices FX menus. Im guessing you watched the video and didnt get the answers you needed. So how can I help you better understand the input FX? I can totally believe there are basic things I didnt talk about in this video. Perhaps I can send a tutorial that better answers your question too :)
@@Brad_the_Wizard I really appreciate your reply. I'm trying to figure out how to use the effects on the 505 at the most basic level (I've never utilized this feature of my 505 mk2). I thought "input FX" was the way to go as opposed to "Track FX", because I don't necessarily want to RECORD anything in the looper. My 505 is the last piece of gear in my pedal chain, so I wanted to use the effects as an "additional" pedal (for example... Sending my signal into the 505's "Slicer" effect and having that output to my amp, whether I decide to record a loop track or not). @@fdean4022 Ah. I see what could be your problem then. You are correct with wanting to utilize Input FX. That will give you the result you are looking for.
