  • In our latest camping adventure, we went to Oastler Lake Provincial Park in Parry Sound, Ontario. This is a smaller park with a beautiful beach area and lake. There are definitely loud train noises that can be heard through the park and it's close enough to venture into Parry Sound to look around. We had a great time here and will return!

    Thank you for your video. I stopped by this park in April while on a road trip hoping it was open for a restroom & lunch break. It wasn’t, however, what I saw from the entrance made me want to spend a camping trip. I appreciate it is a small park. As I get older I’m preferring the smaller camping parks. Keep up the wonderful videos. Happy camping. Note, I’m glad you are adding dates in the details of when you are there. That time was unseasonably warm for Ontario.

      We enjoyed it! Nice and walkable and easy to see the whole thing in a weekend. Not for everyone though because there's not a whole lot to do at the park unless you really like the beach. Thanks for watching!! 🙌

    I live next to a busy train track so that wouldn't bother me at all. Looks like a beautiful park

    Whoohoo for making it to the top of the tower! The views from the top were awesome. The swaying would make me nervous.
    Dill vodka would be great in a Bloody Mary!

      I tested it out and can confirm, dill vodka was delicious in a bloody Mary or Caesar!! The swaying made me a little dizzy, not going to lie, and that was before any booze 🤣

    Thanks for another great video Greetings from Orillia, long time subscriber. When were you at Oastler? We camped there June 24th to June 28th. We liked your evaluation on the park and we agree pretty much with all of it! We were originally booked for site 431 but changed to site 7 right on the beach. In the section by the beach, the trains are even louder, you can hear the wheels rubbing on the tracks, the trains are so close. You can even determine their direction based on the horn blast patterns. Although there are no trails in the park, there is a trail that starts on the other side of the main road by the park entrance that is about 6 KM and goes all the way into Parry Sound, so there are places to hike. There are a couple of shorter trails nearby just outside the park as well. The trains shocked us on the first day, we saw other youtube videos that mentioned them but in our section they are LOUD! We got used to them and would go back to this park in the future. Just consider the trains as part of this park's experience. One thing I didn't like although minor, based on how easy it is to walk the park, is that there is no parking at the comfort station with the exception of one handicap spot. You can't drive to the comfort station to take a shower, just my thing. We'll be booking this park again next year. Keep up the great videos! P.S. we took the 30,000 Island 3 hour cruise which we highly recommend. Part of the route takes you by Killbear Provincial Park to the North West. cheers....

      Thanks so much!! Great tips about the outside hiking trail options. We enjoyed the trains but good to know they are even louder at the beach. We were the June 14-16. And agree about the comfort station!! Would be nice to be able to drive and get into a vehicle after a shower.

    I like the look of everything about this park - except for the trains. Did they run at night too? I don't think you mentioned that in your wrap up.

    • @TheAverageTourist
      @TheAverageTourist  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      They did run at night. Not as frequently but usually 2 trains we heard each night either really late or really early in the morning time around 4am or so. I enjoyed them, but not everyone does!

      @@TheAverageTourist We've been kept awake at night by trains a few times - we check google maps now to look for railway lines in any new park before booking.
