I decided to go back and watch some older videos as I was patiently waiting for your newest renovation video to drop, and I have paused 4 minutes in to comment. I love how giddy and excited and proud you are here to make your very first cut for the vanity you are building. Then to think about how in the last few weeks, we have literally watched you build dozens of kitchen cabinets like a pro! You have built freaking WALLS in your home! This was only 2 years ago! It’s wild!!! You are such an inspiration, friend. I absolutely adore following you.💛💛💛
Just so you understand why the wood is different dimensions than what the label says (and this is a very general explanation), I thought I'd give you a little background and a little trick. When it says a board is a 2x4, that's the nominal dimension of the board. The nominal dimension is what they cut the tree to. So, they cut the tree into 2 inch by 4 inch boards. But AFTER they size the boards they plane and sand them down to make them smooth. Rule of thumb is; the actual dimensions of the board are approximately a 1/2 inch smaller than what is listed. So a board with the sign that says 2x4 is actually closer to 1.5x3.5 Hopefully that helps when you go to plan things out. Love this vanity, this is exactly the style I was looking for a could never find anywhere haha
Gorgeous! Loving the vanity you built. I would be extremely proud of myself building such a wonderful piece. You set a great example of overcoming fear and nerves to build a piece you really wanted. Tools can be extremely daunting but like you said slow and steady is the practice to set until you have confidence. I think this applies to all new skills. Loving the clips at the end!
