Haha! Yeah the type of playthroughs we do take a lot more time with reposition of cameras etc. So I can understand why for many people it's not worth it! But I always prefer watching a playthrough where I can see what's happening!

I recently acquired Runebound and thought it would be neat as a solo or coop game, then heard of this expansion. I seen on Amazon is was going for close to $180, eek! I went with a buddy of mine to his local game store today and found it for $32! Instant buy! I played my first solo game and got wrecked, but had a lot of fun in the process. Great video and gameplay. Gets me in the mood to give this game another go tomorrow!
I agree with you, I really love the simplicity and "flavor win" of the new envelope mechanic. The AI boards for the enemies were a nice addition. I can't wait for the rest of this playthrough. Thanks for posting!

Yeah a lot of people actually get chip protectors!! Wowsers! If you watch jPlay's playthrough you can see how they work. I am just too cheap :) But I really do like the token chucking mechanic!
Great playthrough. Thanks for posting it! At 1:40 I thought Tatianna could make that move by only having to roll a Forest die. Isn't the first move along a road, which can be performed by rolling any die?
Hi Gregg, thanks for watching! Based on what I see I used the first die (which could have been anything) to move once on the road, and then the second die was a forest die. I believe that is correct do you not agree?
10:10 So I'm wondering if this means to give 1 damage to the enemy and not yourself. I would think if they wanted to you have the damage then it would say "take 1 damage" not deal 1 damage. Same for the Mystic, if you save surges then maybe they can be used to dealing damage to Mystic creatures.
Ohhh good point. Although I think that makes the enemies too easy. I am pretty sure that the "deal 1 damage" should be to the hero as they are "savage" enemies and hit you right away. With the Mystic enemies I see them having a simple 1 surge power that let's them deal 1 damage if nothing else as they are mystical. Maybe someone smarter than me can tell us which is right!! Yeah, I think you are right. Looking at the enemy cards now they are written in the same way with "you" referencing the actual enemy and "your foe" being the player. It's easy when you have multiple people controlling the players and enemies, but in solo you are the only person in the room.
at 17:40, the card purchased just says 'you may spend a combat trophy' - it doesn't say it costs an action? Can you do it any time at no action cost? I know some specifically say "Spend 1 action to ...."
I could be wrong, but during combat when you spend a token, don't you have to spend ALL the tokens of the same type at the same time? I didn't think Tatianna could spend one melee token to negate the Fly effect, then use another to actually do some damage. I thought she'd have to spend them all and have them all negated. Great playthrough so far, thanks!

I've liked your recent videos, so I've been going through your backlog and checking other games out. Been avoiding rules questions because these are so old, lol. But Runebound's combat can be so brutal, I just wanted to see if I'm playing right 😊
You don't need to spend all damage tokens at the same time. Rules Reference entries to Enemy Damage, Magic Damage, and Physical Damage confirm this :-)
Good playthrough. I have to say after watching this though, I don't really see how the tokens are better than using dice. And dice are more durable, I think.
Totally get that Matt, I think it is just the novelty of the tokens and how you can manipulate them. But overall, the difference is not significant, yet I still do really enjoy the token combat. Thanks for watching!

You should have glued on the stickers, I used Elmer's School Glue "Gel" looks like a light blue liquid it came out great.

I agree. The coincidence of the first die matching the terrain threw me (assumed you meant that it had to match).

Confirmed on bgg. You don’t need to use an action if the card just says ‘Spend a trophy’

Agreed, horrible dice. They should have been wooden with embossed symbols. I'm surprised FFG haven't tried to sell us a set of "deluxe" dice.
