Just discovered that the Polar express (1225) is real. Just sucks that they cant use the name especially for its winter tours. Also would be nice if all the coaches were one colour.
And to think we could have them repaint all the coaches to look like polar express coaches, and even keep 1225 looking like the polar express. We could have a legitimate polar express train ride. But no. BUT HEY, WHY NOT LET OTHER RAILROADS USE THE POLAR EXPRESS NAME, INSTEAD OF THE ACTUAL ENGINE BEING CALLED THAT!?
The train is the north pole express. I believe Polar Express is somewhat copyrighted by Warner Brothers Studios. But the locomotive itself is Pere Marquette no.1225
Pere Marquette Berkshire no.1225. What a magnificent locomotive that was chosen as the base for one of the best Christmas movies from early 2000s. Although many inaccuracies to functions and operations in the movie because fiction, the fact the real locomotive is preserved well today brings together family during the holidays and railfans to Owosso Michigan as well. While she may not be able to bring smiles during overhaul maintenance, knowing she'll be back will always be there unless something was to happen to end her excursion career. But let's not wish that day to come anytime soon. 1225 may not be a huge icon like other franchise trains, but she holds the title of the real Polar Express locomotive and that is more than enough to give her the recognition and fame especially if you dive into her full history journey. Keep on rolling Pere Marquette 1225.

The "Shave And A Haircut Two Bits" is usually sounded at that location which is close to a cemetery where former AA-TSBY 1225 Engineer Joe Sigafoose is laid to rest. An ongoing tribute to a great guy.
They did put it on the tender, I got photos of it here in the shed and out on the line. I didn't have my video camera that day. Had I known they would remove to Polar Express logo I would have taken extra efforts to file her.
Conrail Gp-40 Guy well the polar express is a Lima 2-8-4 Berkshire.... The know it all in the movie doesn't know everything. And the polar express was modeled off the Pere marquette
TalipedDrake4 Martinez channel 2 I used that photo for the thumbnail. Just so people can see the PM 1225 with Polar Express lettering. Its a photo I took years ago.Don't mean to mislead anyone.

They did put Polar Express on the tender, Way back when they were using the locomotive for the movie sounds. Thats my photo that I took of it in the shed. I also have photos of it pulling a train outside Owosso lettered like that.
They should try and find a whistle that sounds like the actual polar express's whistle. I know they exist it's just I don't know specifically what type of whistle it is
The Polar Express is really Pere Marquette 1225. Stays at The Steam Railroading Institute and runs several times throughout the year besides running the Polar Express trips in December.
Actually they can't call themselves the real polar express because the polar express Does not have cabooses on the rear and also the passenger cars are not blue ANF the whistle is a completely different whistle.
Yes, They only use the Polar Express name the first year that the movie came out. Warner Brothers will not let them use the name. It is The Real Polar Express though.
Nope, I assume your talking about the Photo with Polar Express logo? It's a real photo. They used PM 1225 for the sounds and blueprints to use in the movie. The guy who wrote "The Polar Express" went to MSU in East Lansing. The PM 1225 was on display there. He wrote the book sometime after graduating from MSU.

*Ex via rail but yeah
Wow that is a really awesome sight to see👍👍
Yeah, too bad Warner Brothers won't let them use the Polar Express trademark.
renaming the pere marquette to the polar express would only enhance the movie's marketability and not take away from the story.
This is True
I'm sure they would gladly except a large donation so they can pay for the rights to use the name again.

they should buy an extra tender to use and slap “Polar Express” on the sides
They still have the original polar tender they just barely use it

Actual, The movie is animated.
This is the locomotive that they used for drawing the animation, then they used this locomotive for the sounds.
Why does 1225s whistle sound broken

And people said I look just like the boy from the movie the one with the blue robe

you do know the movie was cgi and that they didnt get a real train to film it right

I have a railroad spike from owasso Michigan
I have one from there too,
They should try and find a whistle that sounds like the actual polar express's whistle. I know they exist it's just I don't know specifically what type of whistle it is
Maybe the one off J-611.
That locomotive is Sierra Railway No.3's whistle in the movie
Maybe a Southern Railway 5 chime. Those whistles sound the same as the one from the Polar Express movie at around 220-230 PSI.

I don't have video of the thumbnail. Its just there to prove that PM 1225 is The Polar Express.
Why did they take polar Express off of it?
