As a Ferrari fan all I'm crying for is something like this to happen now 😅😅 the F2004 was brilliant. Imagine a car that confused the entire team in pre-season testing 😮 Brilliant video! 👌

@PercyPiggington 😆😆 thank you for the comiserations. It's been a terribly rough patch. And so back to the front right 😅 such a wonderful sport this, I'm actually enjoying more of F1 now than I've ever.
The 2004 French GP is constantly overlooked in how consistently fast Schumacher could be when needed. Multiple stints putting in lap times that would have put him top 10 on the grid, all to be lighter and run an extra pit stop to beat Alonso. Then the bonus of Rubens yoinking 3rd at the penultimate corner.
Love these kind of documentary videos, and with your 3D models of the cars and tracks really make this video stand out unlike any other! Makes your content different to anyone else's 👍
@@CertifiedSlamboyHonest question. I’m just getting into racing. Been watching some WEC, IMSA, F1, and Indy. Red Bull won 21 of 22 races last season. Red Bull’s car has an advantage that other drivers simply cannot overcome. Shouldn’t racing be about the drivers primarily, not the engineering? So why do people love F1, when it isn’t even competitive??
Thanks for this great video. It made me cry a little bit! Schumacher-era Ferrari was my childhood. I started following F1 in 1998 by reading race reports in car magazines, but I couldn't watch them on TV back then. Even reading about the fierce rivalries with Mclaren and Williams, Hakkinen, Raikkonen, Coulthard, and Montoya was thrilling. In 2005, I was able to watch the race re-runs, but by then, the Ferrari dominance era was over. But 2006 was good; even though Schumacher and Ferrari didn't win the championship, I still enjoyed watching those races.
This car still holds the race lap record in some circuits, truly amazing fo something 20 years old. And they had gooved tires with a compound that is far from todays soft tires.
I have no doubt that if Ferrari let the F2004 in full on race spec, with its all 950HPs, track focused maximum attack setup and put modern slicks on it, it will decimate the entire modern Formula 1 grid. That monster was so fast, nimble and agile, words simply can't serve it justice. Even on the grooved tires it still looked like a cartoon car while cornering. Watching it through the S-es of Suzuka, Degner and 130R was almost unreal. It was like that car and Michael defied the laws of physics.
As a huge schumi fan the F2004 was my favorite F1 car of all time. But it's always frustrated me that I can never find telemetry data of the F2004 online cuz I wanted to compare it's qualifying & race pace to the modern F1 cars but can't.
One of the best short documentries about F1 i have seen. Especially considering this is not one of those huge broadcasting companies. Really great renderings: compliments!
Nice vid, I loved this car and it's probably my favorite of all time. The 2003 car was abetted than the race results showed . After the Hungarian GP, it was found that the Michelin tires deformed beyond the maximum tread width and Michelin were forced to change their tires construction. Ferrari won all the remaining races to clinch the titles. Had the Michelin tires been legal from the beginning of the season, it would probably would have been another dominant Ferrari season.
After the close 2003 Season I didn’t expect a season like 2004. I remember they had a preseason Test in Imola and smashed the unofficial Trackrecord by one second and mentioned they didn’t even went all out.
Been a Ferrari fan since 89. The Schumacher days were just glorious. My hearts been broken by the prancing horse many times but it’s worth it just for those days alone
I love these kinds of videos. The production quality is INSANE, the effort, quality, detail for this size of a channel is out of this world! Also, I would love to see more of this, particularly with the RB19 and Max Verstappen’s dominant season (Yes I’m a MV1 fan) and the W11 with Lewis Hamilton.

And without the 2005 rule changes that were made to slow Michael down (not Ferrari), he would have won that year, 2006, 2007, and 2008. 10 Constructors and for Ferrari in a row, 9 Driver's for Michael in a row, and Michael an 11x World Champion. And people say Ferrari International Assistance, comical.
I was 10 when the F2004 made history. I remember watching it blaze through the season, sitting in front of the TV on Sundays, in religious awe. Those truly were golden years, where the combined effort of drivers, engineers and management brought on an era of glory and success.
I love this new type of video! I was already very happy with your previous videos but this one was very nice aswell. I think you should continue these videos.
There’s a reason why the Ferrari F2004 is THE Formula 1 car. If you look, all of the key figures that year in Ferrari are all now parts of other teams that today form some of the most successful teams of this era, mainly within Mercedes and red bull. I think the only missing piece of what would’ve been the dream team of all dream teams in 2004 is if they had Adrian Newey in the aero department, but he was in McLaren at that time.
Hope we get more videos saluting legendary cars. This was great! Maybe a similar format video analysing the championship winning car that came next and toppled the red baron? The Renault R25?
That Monaco race before Schumacher hit Montoya under safety car. If he didn't crash out omg he was absolutely flying qualifying lap after qualifying lap lap record after lap record I think he would've finished on the podium easily maybe even won so magical to see before he craahed
The closest competitor to Schumacher and Barrichelo with the F2004, was BAR Honda with Jensen Button, BAR finished second in the Constructors and Button finished third. Please refer to the 2003 Ferrari in its correct form, F2003 GA, the GA as a tribute to late Fiat Chairman Gianni Angelli. Ross Brawn was Technical Director, the F2004 was designed by Rory Byrne,James Allison, Aldo Costa, Marco Fainello, John Illey and Ignazio Lunetta. Paulo Martinelli and Giles Simon leading the Engine Design and operations.
Theres one other sad thing too, the fact that the V10 in the f2004 wants to race and scream again and the cars soul wants to go out and destroy tracks again but all of those are getting crushed and cant be done makes me sad
This car set lap records at Manza and Shanghai that remain unbeaten to this day. It also set the lap record at Magny-Cours, that also remained unchallenged up until the track’s discontinuation in F1 in 2016.

F2004 had ground breaking features? You didn't name any, but that's mainly because it wasn't revolutionary at all. It was an evolution of the F2003-GA. The F2003-GA had some massive upgrades over the F2002 (First car to have undercut sidepods), but the Bridgestones struggled against the Michelins, especially in the heat. The F2004 was specifically designed to be strong in short stints. A smaller fuel cell and tires specifically made for their design. Ferrari refined a lot of the great features found on the F2003-GA and the tires supported the chassis. Perhaps the biggest trick Ferrari had was supposedly a flexy floor and an incredibly efficient diffuser.
This leaves me with two questions: 1) what made the ‘04 car way better than the ‘03 one (someone mentioned something to do with the tires) 2) why was the ‘05 car not as dominant. Was it a case of the competitors catching up or did Ferrari took the wrong route of development? What changed?
Schumacher and Ferrari were my childhood. I still cherish all the success they had together.
F2004 is a masterpiece. ❤️
The only problem was that Ferrari at that time was more dominant than Red Bull is today.
