I bought a brand new clamp and the swivel pad was falling off. So I just held it on and tightened the clamp all the way. Then I held the back part of the swivel pad collar (which was loose) in a bench vice. I had to do that diagonally for clearance at the very corner of the metalworking bench vice. Then I heated the collar with a torch (jet lighter in my case) for a minute. If you were working something thick, you should get it red hot but this collar is rather thin. Then I just nipped the vice in 1/16 th or 1/32 nd turn. Let it cool in the vice and took it out. Worked fine for me. Cool video. This comment is just for someone who has the same problem as I did and doesn't want to go back for a warranty replacement. The heating wasn't really necessary, but good practise I guess. If you tighten it too much it will no-longer move freely.
Yeah came out looking nice.. hopefully the welding will hold up.. if not it will be another video.. great to see ya last night on the panel , always welcome mate
I got a comment about buying the swivel, I didn't know they were available, but buying is not really my channel's style. Are you going to make a video of the repair?
Concrete with a sleeve so the post is removable in the Winter. It is all square tubing 2.5 thick wall. I left it rust because it blends in with the house and bushes like camo.

Great joining you. What time is your podcast at weekly?

Great fix. I think you did that fix for my dentist. I am sure he uses something like that on me. yep those are some great clamps. Thanks for sharing.
Yes! Thank you!
Nice fix. Thanks.
Good fix Bob, I have a large clamp with the end missing too. I'll probably do this fix. Cheers.

@@doublewide6 I may do Bob. I have a lot on at the moment so it won't be for a while.
Great repair...that universal socket was ideal
Thanks
Good fix American steel .
Don't know about the usual use for the clamp but It looks good now, Greg.
Great idea and fix!
Glad you think so!
great job
Thanks Gregory!
Great fix!
Craig you would like my new grill griddle diy build video. I remember a video you made of seasoning a pan and cooking eggs.
Great job!
Used to straighten body panels and dents along with plywood remnants.
I have "watched" this video 3 times and still TH-cam does not show I have watched it. Makes one wonder about views counts!
I never really looked into it. Who Knows?
@@doublewide6 Make that 5 times completely through including all the ads.....still no indication (red bar at bottom) that I have ever watched it!
80mph nobody's going to notice. Repaired in USA by USA tech.👍
Thanks!
Nice 👍
Thanks ✌
What do you have your outside vise mounted to. Wood post with concrete?

I may have a video on it, but I honestly don't remember.
Pretty sure that's not how you measure clamp size. I would imagine it's the max size of the opening which would make that a 12 inch clamp.
Probably the c-clamp was used to compress piston into the brake caliper before removing caliper.
cool
Yup, that's what I thought!
I would have just bought a Replacement Swivel Pad.
But then your video would have sucked 😂
If you are not handy that will work for you.
They don't make replacement ones that big....I've tried to find one and the biggest I can find is 1-1/4", this clamp needs a 1-1/2".
