I had a 230 for a month, absolutely love it. Traded it in for a DRZ400sm for higher top speed. Honestly, the DRZ just feels more raw. I really enjoy the character of the DRZ.
I was able to bypass the speed limiter with and aftermarket tunable ecu on my 230, was able to hit 90mph on some fatass shinkos 👍😂 going with a different tire combo , I kept the 230 because I occasionally use it as a “dirt bike” the lighter frame really sells it for me 👍 300cc big bore kit coming soon with a racing cam ✌️
Yo guys! Just picked up a KLX230SM and love the content yall put out. I raced flat track growing up and have been an MX guy as an adult - been having a blast tackling the street on a dirt bike and I appreciate all you have to offer. If I wasn't stuck in the midwest I'd be there every week 😅 Have had a hard time finding a credible video about tire selection. Any insight on upgrading the tires and tire size? I have the same IRC Roadwinners that come on the 300 except 110/120s on 3/3.5 wheels and they definitely don't inspire much confidence even zipping around town. How much wider could/should I go? Thanks ✊
haha the road winners are garbage but also have a hilarious name. Get yourself some GPR300 Dunlops, they are sooooo much better and come in the correct sizes!
I have a KLX 250 SM myself. Get it steel braided brake lines and a pair of Pirelli Diablo Rosso II and it'll feel a lot better on the tarmac. I've got to try it on a race track dirt section yet, but I can't complain of these tires when I ride on dirt roads.
We could and we did. When you hear "beginner friendly" and "easier", that's slower. Plus we said it has 10hp less than the drz. You literally didn't listen to anything. So to be clear: 1) The klx is slower than the drz 2) drz vs klx the faster rider wins. There is no "faster" bike, it's what bike is faster for your ability.
@@socalsupermoto You never said it was slower, 10hp less doesn't always mean slower, And since when does beginner friendly and easier mean slower? you noob.
true, although I used to change my gearing shorter. One day I forgot to change it and ran faster lap times with taller gearing. Sometimes feels faster and is faster not the same.

Same!!! Be sure to see our mandatory drz mods vid
Yeah because that bike is a dinosaur lol
Yea. A manly one with hairy nuts@@alexv5581

I bet it's a blast!
I run the Diablo Rossis on my drz and they are the shit
These are the exact tires I were looking at for mine. Thank you
They are tough to find good tires for. I ran battlaxs22 on mine. Good enough for me at the track.
yeah the stock "road winners" are garbage but we've been happy with our Dunlop GPR300 set on there!
@@socalsupermoto sweet, that's actually what I have on my new sumo I haven't taken to the track yet. good to hear they are good.
3:34 and you couldn’t tell us if it’s faster or slower than the drz400?

A KLX450SM would be killer…..
Oh man i'd buy 10!!!
wow that looks so cool!
always a good time!!
Any advice for damping settings and tire PSI?
On the drz, max rebound dampening all the way clockwise then back off three clicks or so. We're usually at 22psi front and rear.
For this track will change gearing to 14 45 n bike top speed will be 75 but it will rip crazy
