  • In this video I have explained how to use #Excel to formulate #animal (specifically #poultry #chicken) diet based on least cost feed formulation method. In fact this would be used as a #feed #formulation #software. Also, it is an example of using #solver function in Excel for #optimization process.
    If you watch the video completely, I believe you will be able to create your own Least Cost Feed Formulation software. However, if you feel that you need to use the file that I have created, you can use the following link to download it!

    Hi Doc, quite an educative presentation, it just came at the right time when I was trying to get a software to formulate layer and broilers feed rations this side. Can you please explain how did you get inclusion rates? I went through this video twice but all I could see was when you gave an example of an inclusion rate for corn as 60%, and the rest only pops -ups at the end when you applied the "solver".

    • @animalnutritionist
      @animalnutritionist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Frenada. The software calculates inclusion rates of ingredients. However, we are controling the inclusion rate range by giving the minimum and maximum amount of each ingredients in the rows above the inclusion rate.

    Hello Sir. In your formulation are you specifying the Amino Acids as digestible ileal standardised for poultry or are you specifying for just the standard profile? Also are you doing the specification as fed or on dry matter?

    • @animalnutritionist
      @animalnutritionist  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Vukile. I balanced the amino acids based on the standard profile (Total amino acids profile). If we want to balance based on the digestible amino acids, we need to specify the ingredients' amino acids based on the digestible amino acids as well (it means that we need to multiply feed ingredients' amino acids content by its digestibility coefficient to get the digeatible amino acids levels for that ingredient).
      For poultry we usually balance based on as fed. But for ruminants we usually balance based on dry matter.
      Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you so much for your comment. Good luck

    Thank you so much for the great lecture. My question is where do I get the content of the ingredients? For example, If I have cotton cake, barley, sunflower cake, sugarcane cake, rice bran, wheat bran, etc...and is there constraints on fiber intake for layers?

    • @animalnutritionist
      @animalnutritionist  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ingredients' composition is available on NRC (this link: nap.nationalacademies.org/catalog/2114/nutrient-requirements-of-poultry-ninth-revised-edition-1994). You can also get the ingredients' composition from feed library of feed formulation software. If you have access to your local feed ingredients' composition, that would be more acurate.
      For layers, fiber level should be around 6% when the flock reach the developer phase (BW=950-970grams). There are nutritional benefits of fiber in layers, however, the feed should not be bulky (high fiber).

    in my country, we don't add bicarbonate Na in diet and you recommanded to add it for avoid negative effects but I want to know why you don't enter the Amino Acid as an enrgy source in the calculate, for example, 1 Kg of Lys could be given about 5 meg Calori to diet!!

    • @zelalalsaftli4011
      @zelalalsaftli4011 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      another thing, why we don't calculate what AAs could be given when we add it in water although it may give about 2 to 3 % protein and etc..

    • @animalnutritionist
      @animalnutritionist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you don't have access to sodium bicarbonate, then you can use other sources of sodium such as sodium sulphate.
      About your question on AAs energy, I should say it is not necessary to include energy level of AAs in diet formulation. Because if your diet is a balanced diet in terms of the ratio of energy to nutrients, then AAs should be utilized for protein synthesis in the body and also some AAs will do some metabolic tasks as well. But in a standard situation, AAs should not be utilized as an energy source in the body. Therefore, we should not expect energy coming from AAs in the diet.

    • @animalnutritionist
      @animalnutritionist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my opinion if you are using AAs in drinking water you will need to calculate its inclusion and deduct the provided nutrients from the requirements while formulating the diet.

      I would look at AI as a tool to provide the whole big picture of feed formulation or nutrition. I would not use it for detailed feed formula. As you know nutrient requirements of an animal is influenced by many factors such as environmental factors and feed antinutrients. In this situation an expert should determine nutrient requirements and then formulate feed accordingly.

      @animalnutritionist  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment. Yes, there is always scholarship. The scholarships are usually competitive. It means that you need to apply for them and if your CV and publications are strong you will win those scholarships. You can search the scholarships by looking at the Canadian universities website. Good luck.

      I'll make a link to download the file. Meanwhile if you try creating a spreadsheet based on the video, I'm pretty sure that you will have the least-cost feed formulation file. If you have any questions about creating the spreadsheet after following the tips I mentioned in the video, just let me know and I'll answer them. Good luck😊

      @@fitsumbishu3367 it's a good question. In that part of video I calculated 1*100%=1 it means that (1*100)/100=1 so it is correct. Because we are calculating based on %
