This is an extraordinary cover. The Church is indeed the best , the most underrated and greatest band to ever exist. They have withstood the test of time. They do not follow trends and are not kissing record companies/producers asses to maintain their greatness. Steve Kilbey is the most creative lyricist ever.
Sam R I do also realize they are far far better ALIVE than U2 & Simple Minds just to quote two bands that have been luckier in the stardom system. Extraordinary talented guys, the Church, and growing older getting better, like as a good wine ! One of my best 5 top bands !
The Church don't record many cover versions but this was a good one and I loved seeing them play it live on a rare trip to the UK (always London and sodding Brighton) too many years ago now. A great EP.
Wow! Did not know The Churchies covered this Kate Bush song...sounds fantastic!! AND thirty years together w/ a unique sound, creating amazing, intricate tunes....talent does last forever!!!
Listen for Steve's amazing bass line after "Now here I go." Good luck finding another bassist with such power and finesse. It doesn't hurt to have such a wonderful voice and the artistic sense to make the lyrics your own. The cover of all covers, for me.
Not the only one. I had no idea this cover existed, but it's actually really good! I was a bit skeptical of how well The Church could cover this particular song, but I like the restrained, mellow rendering done here.
This is a gorgeous song. You sing it with so much vigour and passion like you wrote it yourself, it pours from your heart. This version has the authenticity that the original lacks. Kate's voice is drowned by all the synth.
this is a nice version but to say that kate's version "lacks authenticity" is laughable. and as for her voice being "drowned by all the synth," you really should try listening to it on something besides crap audio equipment.
Somehow, in their inimitable way, The Church can cover a song like this and actually give it more essence than even the original composer could. That's a pretty fucking tough act to follow and an even tougher to pull off with such aplomb, style and virtue. Bravo lads.
Pig's arse! They've done well but even they wouldn't say it was better than Kate Bush's. It's about how intimidated she was of the boys who hounded her as a teenager and her losing her virginity.
Nicholas dukic, this song has nothing to do with her losing her virginity or how intimidated she was of boys, you really need to get your facts right or know them
As an Aussie who loves The Church nearly as much as I do Kate Bush I feel downright embarrassed that I missed this. They could have gutsed it up a bit more but it's fun all the same.
Fantastic cover with a great surreal video. The cover adds to the interpretation of the song. I find the voicing of the lyrics even more tender than the original. Makes me think there's a time in all of our lives when we're - a fox caught by dogs. It's the "official video" as far as I'm concerned.
Oh.. how remiss am me. "Hounds of Love" by Kate Bush?!?!!!!!! sung/done by The Church! Never knew.. coffee grounds huh. SkeeDaddleSkeedaddledaddledaddle.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great version, you've given this classic your own distinctive sound. I NEVER get tired of watching the 'old' Church footage, so many wonderful images (& such handsome fellers!) but have to admit it does get a bit disconcerting the 'out of sync' nature of the vocals.

My favourite female artist covered by my favourite band,my dream came true..
What a treat, to find that The Church has done a version of my absolutely favourite Kate Bush song.
Beautiful song indeed, my favorite of her's also. Kate is outstanding, but Steve still serves a great cover.

Wow, this is a gem, loves Steves's voice, could listen to him all-day:)

Agree about Steve's bass. But my ears are always drawn to the piano on this. Superb cover nonetheless.
One of the best bands ever!
Great cover, guys, I have added it in my Ipod Church covers list, with all Box of Birds songs, I am a rock, etc...
Never heard this before. A interesting choice by Steve as a cover, but, as with anything he sings - it is excellent.
This song is pure cool. No words can explain this...
wow i never heard it before... it sounds like a song from the first time.. with so much power!!! it's not an illusion...!!! thx
The Church mi gran obsesion🥰❤️
Wow how good is this
Steve Kilbey for Prime Minister of Australia
Love this!

And it was a gutsy move to cover a song of this power, but one which Steve absolutely nails. What a Legend, an understated Legend at that.
My dream come true too, huge fan of both and only just discovered this lovely union, beautiful!
Stunning version!
nO PUEDO PARAR DE ESCuchar esta Maravilla ¡¡
Deserved homage for a great band!
The Greatest - The Church

Gorgeous cover!!!
really nice job on the video!

CANT SAY ANY THING SO GOOD

you are kidding me,this sounded so boring and lifeless and weak

Nice work!

Que bonita ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
Interesting to see lefty Kilbey years before Instagram.
NICE!!
really cool
love
Can't argue with you there. :-)
When was this done? Great band doing a great song by one of the best female singers of the 80's...what more could you ask for?
wow how good is this, bet kate bush is shaking
Oh.. how remiss am me. "Hounds of Love" by Kate Bush?!?!!!!!! sung/done by The Church!

This version rocks. Take my shoes off and throw them in the sea!
SOUNDTRACK OFF MY LIFE.
Good cover
solid ,;game over////
wow
yeah
Wish I knew what video the concert footage was from
+William Glade It's old live clips mixed with old videos.
I'm sure the live clips are from the "Reptile" video, a Minneapolis concert.
😍😍😍
Brill' . Brill' , big time . You know it . " Port anyone " ?
kate could always write a good rock song!
Great version, you've given this classic your own distinctive sound.

if you find this amazing video Lizzycat - hi from Sal!
Are you high? This is an excellent cover.
It's growing on me. Still like Kate's version better though!
#Sentimientos
I must be the only Kate Bush and The Church fan who has discovered this purely by accident....
@gandolf425
yes me to
Certainly a mean choice of covers The Church did.
@tinderella I must be the second! :)
:)
@JPGR66 Kate Bush recorded the original.
"Nothing is real"
Esta versão é muito melhor que a da Kate!
@tinderella That being said, it's not very good is it?
anything is better than Bush...
É melhor que a Kate Bush...muito melhor!
Not crazy about this cover and I'm not quite sure why at the moment.
This is the most anaemic version I have heard try Jon Boden or the futureheads
nope
