Great tune. This is a short version. The album version is longer. Got married in New Orleans. This is in our wedding video. Most underrated band of all time.
Another really great body of work from The Church. Released in the U.S. in 1998, radio friendly tracks were again left from most of U.S. radio airplay. Check out: Ricochet, No Certainty Attached, Buffalo, Another Earth. & Tranquility. Anesthesia is also a great melodic psychedelic ride , & This is It is apparently about the Lead Singer of INXS. This was the set that showed the band really regrouping and coming together more on their work in the late 90's after Magician..and sounding evolved and grown as a group together.
Stephan St. Claire-Méfret Hi Stephan I got the version of Baal (with an additional, jam session disc that's awesome) in either 1998 or early 1999 Koppes and Wilson Piper in the band at that time, although there were issues between them and Kilby Success of the album, made them carry on and release an album of covers called Box of Birds in 99 where the three are still playing together Didn't get your messages, youtube very unreliable these days Just having a 'Church' day and thought I'd watch some of the videos 🤘
the best track from the one dodgy album out of the 25 released so far. i regularly play the other albums but only get this cd out to play bastard universe.
Strongly disagree. The 2 before it were well doggy but this was a much welcome return to form. Having Peter back, full time...the start of a great run from them 98-09, unmatched!!
I have a strange recurring dream where I see an old woman in a rocking chair, it is in Louisiana, and Im standing by the window, and the old woman says to me 'tell her before its too late'. I have no idea what she is she saying to me and I say to her 'please tell me why', she points to the door and says 'sshhh', and then I wake up drenched in sweat. Se will not tell me. I have had this dream since I was ten tears old. Why does this woman keep her secrets?
@@marshallharrison2533 I don't agree about the drums in this and subsequent albums being bad. But sometimes they are 'ploddy' (like in this song). There are some great examples of drumming by Tim Powells - like Ladyboy, and Further Adventures of the Time Being on MATS. I did read once about Tim being very critical on the drumming on Priest=Aura (by Jay-Dee Daugherty who drummed for Patti Smith, which I found uhard to get my head round, as I think the drumming on P=A is tops, so detailed and intricate, adding a lot of interest to the melancholy songs.

Just listening to this song uplifts my mood
My absolute favorite band! Thanks for sharing your cherished memory with the world.
Their come-back album way back to 1998. I'm a big fan of the Church since GAF in 1990 ..i was 15😮 thanks for sharing this gem
peter koppes and his playing…beautiful always
one of the best church songs. Underplayed
As are all of their outstanding music. Too much for the average dumber down fan to grasp.
Tem várias!destination
Always great.. MWP and his Rickenbacker, very under rated.. Top 5 band for me all time.
One of my top 5 favorite Church songs
yup
One of mine too.....a long with the stuff on gold afternoon fix
How is it that I went like 25 years without knowing there was a video for this song?
Me too 🤔
This is one of this Louisiana girl's favorite songs.

Yes This is It has the chilling line "he came....and he went..." So, yeah...!
Eric de Forest where's Marty?
This video should have at least 1 million views.

Great great band and love this song
paul elliott this was released in 98!!??. Where is Wilson.
I love this song. Not crazy about no ploog and Wilson piper and confused as to when this album was released.

Ploog had left the band by then
Stephan St. Claire-Méfret Marty Willson-Piper is in this video clip and first appears about six seconds in.
Amazing for so many years, really looking forward to the new album and tour

This song could not have been written by mere human beings.
Sublime
Brilliant ... Milky Way Music
+Ferdy Katchadourian They have grown beyond THAT!

I ended up really liking Anaesthesia on this one. Just putting it out there :)

Do you include Priest=Aura as well dodgy? I thought that was dry and strained but still great, and, better than the Metropolis one.
@@geckowithcamo Yeah, Anaesthesia is good by my lights too tbh. Vibes
Rubbish, this was one of the best records.
Busy while we sleep!
❤ MFKN bliss
Listen to The Flowers' 1980 (Aussie Bowiebogans) 'Nothing to Do' from the 'The Flowers' one and only album. Then look up to the Bowie star.

languid, fey, a rainy day...
how is that better quality?
+Mike Biggers the previous version was like 320x240 video
But who's playing the Classical Guitar?
Smack?
Grant would know.
a decentish video, for a change. thank goodness no knights in armour running around...
They all look extremely pissed off in this. Anyone know why? Did they just have a fight?
They've always disliked doing music videos.
He looks like the slimmer brother of Ricky Gervais 🙂
Very much so.
BASS
Would have loved to hear Frank Sinatra do this one.
Nice fideo... but why does the sound hear so ... lame/limp/crap?
Hate the drums....ruined the song.. would have been better brushes, bongos or a shoebox. That crashing snare....god damn awful...
I guess that happens when the drummer produces the album!
Honestly, though, the drums are the Church's weakpoint imo. Man, they can get annoying on some of the later albums (cough cough Forget Yourself)
