I bet half of the people watching this have visceral memories of being in a sweaty indie club sometime between 2005 and 2009 and hearing the end of a heavy track fade into the intro of this one as it began to echo around the dancefloor, and it gradually getting louder as everyone on the dancefloor began to join in. Can of red stripe or some equally pissy lager in hand. A classic.
Nah my dad had me listening to this when I was a baby think so imagine a little kid trying his best best to sing along to the "o" bit wish I was born in time to be in a sweaty indie club though
One of the best covers ever. Manages to evoke a slightly different feeling than the original, which allows it to stand on its own. I say this with Kate Bush being my favorite artist.
Kate Bush liked the cover. She phoned them up in their studio to tell them she like it. But they missed the call and she left a message on the answer machine
@moscowguitarman The difference here is that both versions of Hounds of love are fantastic songs in their own right. I could have improved on Dylan's all along the watchtower
Really is a fun cover, but you know what I love about this song? It gives me a chance to sing Hounds Of Love at karaoke. No way I can hit Kate Bush notes, but I can sing this.
As so many other comments say, this is possibly one of the best covers. One of Kate’s greatest songs and lucky enough to see her live back in the day. The other greatest cover in my opinion is Walk on By - covered by The Stranglers! One of Burt Bacharach and Hal David’s greatest songs. And I saw the band perform it live years ago, with Peter Gabriel on the bill as well - just brilliant. Also lucky to see Burt live about 15 years ago.
Well, we're almost a quarter of the way through the 21st century and still nobody has managed to make a record better than this. Thank you boys, sublime.
Wish the record company pushed for this video when the album came out. Incredible cover, would have blown up if there was a little more support behind this. 🤷♂️
For decades Kate Bush has been ignored by the music industry at large. They wanted to control her from the beginning but she refused to play their game, opting for her exquisite artistry over their support. Kate has a huge fan base because of her artistic integrity and not compromising her genius. Consequently, anyone relating to her, or her work, is seen as a bit fringe by music industry. I can completely understand that they would not support this, for no actual reason.. other than that it is a Kate Bush song. I find it hilarious that now, thanks to Running Up That Hill, Kate is the number 1 artist for weeks on end. The music industry can't control this new generation of consumers, who want what they like and demand to get it. I hope that now, 30-45 years after her earliest work, these new listeners have the chance to appreciate her entire catalogue. Now we can put our finger on it, she's exactly 37years ahead of her time. They actually invented the first headset microphone for her, years before Madonna made it famous.
Absolutely love this song. I understand it’s a cover, but it really stands on its own. I’m not even a big fan of this type of music, but this really resonates with me.
Used to sit around watching MTV2 for hours on end just to catch this song. One of the greatest covers ever and great to see the video again, brings back memories of wearing tatty vans and shopping in topman.
I had the pleasure of singing this with Kate Bush in 2014... Well me and a few 1000 others at the Hammersmith Apollo :) I wonder if she has heard this cover - its fantastic!
In the Hall of Great Covers, this hangs beside Placebo's "Bigmouth Strikes Again", The Bangles' "Hazy Shade of Winter", and RHCP's "Higher Ground". I'm trying to sing it with my band. Best to you, boys.
I am an American millennial. I knew of Kate Bush in high school because of Placebo's cover of Running Up That Hill, but for years and up until Google Play Music (rip) recommended me this recording, that was the only thing I knew about her. When I first heard this and listened to the lyrics, I thought it was kind of a shitty attitude for a man to have when writing a song, I was delighted to find out that it's a cover. It's not that I dislike KB's recordings, but man Placebo's and your covers just hit me much harder.
A shockingly good debut album. You know an album is good when this delightful cover is like my fourth fave track. These guys have that jittery youthful energy with urgency with their first album and it shows with hit after hit…maybe not chart hits, but hits nonetheless.
For how unbelievably massive this song was back in the day. The views likes and comments are frighteningly low. This was literally when social media, TH-cam et all was kicking off and they seem to be forgotten.
I've been searching for this for so long me and my dad used to listen to it and i never knew the name so i tried to explain to him the start bit sending him voice messages going "oh uh oh uh oh" bahaha and he knew straight away 😭
it's fake festival season, I was looking for magic mark yesterday. we needed to get the pyramid stage erected I didnt know where to put it he he used to live at glasto so hed probably know the place
Is there a CD where different bands and singers do Kate bush song Pat benatar did wuthering heights in the early eighties All the Way to the future heads doing this cover hounds of love if there isn't a CD they should put one together that'd be pretty neat. 🤓

This is such a spot on nostalgic comment. Kudos.
The Venue, Malia 2007. What amazing memories!

The Castle in Oldham ❤️
Good times
if you are here you have brilliant taste
thanks babe

I honestly never knew this was a cover, just blew my mind.
The fact Kate Bush approved of this cover and said she loved it, makes it all the more better!! They did a great job with this cover👍🏼
I’m shook this doesn’t have more views, it’s such a great cover
Better than Original for sure. So much more punch.
@@vidiveniviciDCLXVI don't agree with that sentiment but it's definitely good
agreed
This is just fabulous. To cover Kate Bush is brave but to cover it so well that it gives me goosebumps. I just love it.
Hi Kate!
Love how it builds with the driving guitars . Very original cover
best cover ever
@moscowguitarman The difference here is that both versions of Hounds of love are fantastic songs in their own right. I could have improved on Dylan's all along the watchtower
@moscowguitarman no

Love this comment
Hahhaa exactly!!
Eh? Kate bush has such a low register, I busked this song for years but always did Kate bush vocals and future heads speed
@@lastofthemouchers8873
*_"Kate bush has such a low register"_*
She has a range of 5 octaves, 4 notes and 1 semitone, Bb1 to F7.
{:o:O:}
@@ansfridaeyowulfsdottir8095 yeah but she didn't use anything but 2 octaves on hounds of love most of It is based on her falsetto

so nostalgic. Can remember when this came out in 2005. Wish I could go back :(
me too. ❤
Definitely not alone in that lol
Absolutely love this song. I understand it’s a cover, but it really stands on its own. I’m not even a big fan of this type of music, but this really resonates with me.
I remember hearing in an interview how Kate Bush phoned them up to congratulate them when they hit number one with this cover. Always classy is Kate!
That’s correct but unfortunately they missed the call and only got to listen to the answerphone message! 😖
She must have been very pleased, she made more than they did out of it...! Love Kate Bush, and love their version of her song...
Used to sit around watching MTV2 for hours on end just to catch this song. One of the greatest covers ever and great to see the video again, brings back memories of wearing tatty vans and shopping in topman.
I really miss the early 00's. before social media changed the world.
And to record it on VHS/Betamax I take it lol
The last third of the song when the guitars really kick in always gets me. A fantastic cover. Kate would be proud.
you DO know she is still alive don't you?
@@andymoore4634 Kate is a myth.
Absolutely love this cover
Only just seen your post.. 👍❤️
Me too! One of my favourite covers ever, together with The Kooks - Crazy
So does Kate bush apparently.
Madness that this song is so underviewed.
Belter of a cover! Hear it on absolute radio all the time I love it!
What a tune. Incredible memories of this time. Jumping around in an indie club, lost in music and ahem.. other stuff.
Great tune. I love how its all chaotic at the start and then comes together!
This is one of the top 3 songs I've ever heard. Love it. Love it even more that it's a cover. Great band. Seen them live...SO good!
I was at shiny row college with Dave the drummer, then later went to his and brother's house after they played Glastonbury . Magic times.
A lovely family ❤
Had this song in my head all week and then it came on the radio earlier on today.
It was weird and good.
From my hometown Sunderland! They went to my school :)
A thumping good version of this excellent song...
This song is the reason why I still own an original copy of the CD
There's loads of good songs on that album (I can't remember the name of)!
IS this the greatest song ever recorded? Cover or not, this is fucking incredible! Oh that INTRO, gets me every time!
I absolutely love this version. 👍
Heard this first on radio 1 live lounge..... Such an awesome cover .....🤙🤙🤙
I don't automatically hate covers of songs I love, neither do I automatically embrace them: this is stirring.
Absolute quality, not heard this in years reminds me what a classic it is.
One of my favorite music videos of all time, back on yertube
I'm gonna listen to it again, and get as over-excited as the little dogs. Again.
Hehe, again
Again again again
I had the pleasure of singing this with Kate Bush in 2014... Well me and a few 1000 others at the Hammersmith Apollo :) I wonder if she has heard this cover - its fantastic!
She has, and she loves it.
Proper done the original justice lads, quality cover 👌
Oh quit trying to sound British, we all know you live in oklahoma
@tonyhill2318 I live in Manchester in the UK you wet wipe.
Sort your napper out
In the Hall of Great Covers, this hangs beside Placebo's "Bigmouth Strikes Again", The Bangles' "Hazy Shade of Winter", and RHCP's "Higher Ground". I'm trying to sing it with my band. Best to you, boys.
Loved this, exceptional work, shows the drama and adds fun - those hounds!!
Still love this song ❤
Excellent cover and excellent vid. Thank you guys!
Just as classic as the original takes me back to simple times...
This song, this album. I love it
You need to listen to this twice! RIP John Peel
Love this! Saw it live in Leeds years ago and it was amazing. Huge Kate Bush fan but love this cover
Own this album on vinyl. Love this whole album
The best 80s cover ever. Such energy.
Got to be honest untill just right this moment I didn't know this was a cover and it ment so much too me and now even more some how wow what moment
wtf i had no idea this was a cover. and i've kept waking up with this stuck in my head over the past couple of months like every other day. wtf.
Song is my life right now
Now that's how you do a cover version, brilliant.
Great cover

This is fookin' banging...what a cover..what a cover...turn this sh it up.....wow...
Brilliant arrangement of a brilliant song
Intense cover, thank you for the video.

Legendary.

Satisfying noise.
Que buena música escuchaba yo en aquellos años maravillos ❤️😭 si ese tiempo pudiera volver

Colinb;; the other one has 2.2 million views
Don't worry, it has 15 million listens on Spotify!
To this day the only good Kate Bush cover
I would agree if not for Maxwell’s incredible cover of This Women’s Work. Check it out if you haven’t heard it.
Placebo Running Up That Hill???
Jane Birkin's Mother Stand For Comfort...
Pat Benatar's Wuthering Heights is good too.
@@jb8280 only the live version but yeah, it's incredible.
Cool Cover! Makes folks hearing this start listen to Kate Bush!
love this version of kates classic
2005. 21. Pished in The Limelight in Belfast.

Had this intro as my ringtone since it was released.....people are like wtf is that😂
Love the accents :) (which is interesting because accents aren't supposed to show up when you sing)
Their accents are fantastic.
found this tune on the radio
The I Wanna Be Kate album and this cover throw me back into high school and when my Kate Bush love affair began
I would direct this video so different
I remember driving to the shittist job I ever had playing this song and took me bk to my childhood listening to Kate Bush❤
I hope someone makes a Stranger Things remakes on the 2030s and this song becomes the new Running Up That Hill
The only cover to be better then the original
Hardly, Kate Bush’s is an all time classic this is some hokey cover that has since been forgot
I don't agree with that, it is good though!
Who's here thanks to comedian Mark Watson? Great cover of a fantastic song
Who's here after Stranger Things Season 4?
my tiding has gone sideways aswell but focus on what you have done
I love this, so there's no way I'm complaining, but does anyone know what Herself thinks about it?
I was trying to sing this yesterday, I've not learnt the words as usual so I can only do the chorus
it's fake festival season, I was looking for magic mark yesterday. we needed to get the pyramid stage erected I didnt know where to put it he he used to live at glasto so hed probably know the place
but i couldn't find him
his actual name is magic mark, I wasnt liing about the fish or trying to be funny
plus hes still got my penny whistle I left it with him the otherday when we were helping the buskers
Wonderful example of making a cover your own and giving it a new spin while not butchering it.
Anyone 2025?
