- In this first part of the route of the abandoned MAGMA ARIZONA railway, in the United States of America. Where I was only able to do 16 miles of the entire 30 miles, I did those 16 miles in 2 stages (2 chapters) because arriving at the QUEENS River the wooden bridge was blocked, that is, I could not reach SUPERIOR AR. where the copper mine was located. and on the same day I returned to Hwy 60, dismantled the railcart and drove my car to the other side of the bridge, where I was able to get to SUPERIOR. That part is in chapter (2). This former railway was originally built as a 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge line, but was converted to a 4 ft 8+1⁄2 in (1,435 mm) standard gauge line in 1923. Originally headquartered in Superior , Arizona,
The Magma was the last short line industrial railway to use steam power, dieselizing on September 4, 1968.
You can also find a lot of information on the internet about this railroad and photos of its steamers and diesels and the Baldwins. Very interesting engine exhaust system..
Yeah. closed the gates. But on that same day I returned, disarmed it and went to the other side of the bridge and finished my journey to Superior, Arizona. which is the second part of the video that I will upload to my channel shortly. Thank you.
Love seeing those huge Saguaro cactus. You know your really in the desert when you see them dotting the countryside! This is the most interesting landscape I've seen you pass through. Thanks for sharing!
Archie… this ride is among your best routes & presentations. Great job.
Thanks a lot!
Great adventure and a hidden treasure. Thanks for taking us along!!
Hey train driver, it's better than watching TV. Just having fun in such a beautiful area. In Germany, this is forbidden, usually the tracks are blocked so that such trips cannot be made. Something could happen! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Best wishes from Micha from Dresden / Germany
Brought back memories for me. I rode that line a few times when I worked for Magma Copper in the late 60s and early 70s after high school. It was in much better condition at that time.
What a cool life man. I escaped from my stressful day watching your video
Fantastic adventure Sir. Thank you for taking us along for the ride. 😎
Glad you enjoyed it
@@archiemorenoHello dear author, please tell me: is the section of the road along which you are traveling inoperative?
Great video, Archie! What beautiful country that is!
It really is!
That location was amazing but your video with drone was fantastic TY😅
YASSS IVE WAITED SO LONG FOR THIS i’ve spent so many years scouting out and reaserching this railroad but google maps can only take you so far, this line had a lot of cool and unique crossings but even tho it’s out of service around 2013 they still replaced them with more modern crossing wich is kinda sad
I love the videos you share with us. Keep it up!
Best videos on TH-cam, Tanks Archie Sir!!!
Wow, thanks!
Sir, you are living my Dreams. Love your stuff. The presentation, Camera views, editing skills are the best I've seen on this subject. Wish i lived closer to you and hope to meet you someday.
No habla Español but still love your channel. Thanks Archie!
The captions are in English
Can you put the subtitles in English. closed caption.
Dang! You're right! I'll have to remember that from now on! I'm hearing impaired anyway. CC and Subtitles save the day for me time and time again.
Thanks!
I enjoyed your trip and the beautiful surroundings again and can't wait for the second part of your trip, thank you again for sharing this video ;-)
I would say they maintain the rails to service that water pipe that is next to it. Rail car or train is the only way to get those Jersey Barriers there that support the water pipe.
Bravo, endless railway, fantastic it's incredible that this is abandoned, that it's adventure,, great 👏👏👍💖😎
Thank you for providing the closed captioning.
Great views. The cactus was huge that time of years. Very green and some flowers. Still cool enough that you can be out in the middle of the day in the sun. Some sketchy area where the guys were shooting guns. Looked like homeless area where people were sleeping in vehicles'. I question the closed area being private. There is easement for water lines and electric line running thru there. Strange.
The hours you put into the research of locations. Studying the maps and history. A lot goes into your making these videos. As long as your having fun. That's all that counts. Thanks for taking us all along.
Beautiful Saguaros along the route!
Yes
Super cool ride, Archie. The landscape is fantastic
loved the ride thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Seen a short now im here for the full journey
Muy buenas las tomas desde el drone
All the locomotives from that railroad are still there, its very interesting to see them ive been to basically all of the locomotives from there. Aswell as i have been on the tracks before amazing place.
Where are they? Up at Superior? I know one of them is down at the AZ Railway Museum in Chandler.
@@bryce2680 the one at az railway museum is a alco the steam engines are one is at a casino i think in Texas and another at mcstillmor railroad park in chandler also i think
@@bryce2680 so engine no.5 is a 2-8-0 that is at the Galveston RR museum, engine 3 a also rs3 is at the AZ railroad museum, no6 is at Mccormick-stillman railroad park in scottsdale arizona, engine no.7 is in superior Arizona and stored there and lastly engine no 10 is a DRS-6-6-1500 and is in the arizona railway museum in chandler AZ.
That looks like my idea of heaven. Peace and tranquillity, and no one else around.
I'm guessing the pipe is for water transfer.
I've never seen so many huge cactus plants like that. We do have cactus here in Canada, but they're mainly small - three species of prickly pear and one type of pincushion cactus.
thank you mate for the adventure im nearly finished building my railway speeder here in Australia will post some video's soon
Buen video
Darn shame they blocked 🚫 the track with locked gates and No Trespassing signs. Some private landowner bought up the old railroad right away? You were going along so nice through magnificent country. So disappointed you had to turn around.
Should of cut the cam and turn it back on, let's say, on the better side of that gate. Wink Wink
Yeah but...... No Tresspassing signs are a legal roadblock. There was a second gate shortly after and from Archie's drone you could see one at each end of the trestle bridge. The barbed wire gates were alright but these steel pipe gates with locks meant business. Some people can get real ugly when signs, gates, and fences are ignored. I've been known to get ugly with trespassers/poachers on my land. I don't have fences or gates but I do have signs. "Why Should I Fence Me
In, To Keep You Out. No Tesspassing" That and my favorite...... "Trespassers Will Be Violated. "
Buen día de aquí saludándolos desde Colombia
Saludos. Sigan con los excelentes videos. Hermosa naturaleza, grandes experiencias!
Wow I love these thanks
I like the high speed rail 😅
Archie. The old Magma Arizona Railroad track is just waiting for the mine at Superior to go into operation. Copper Basin Railway will then operate the railroad. You might consider wearing a helmet. You could have been killed in a derailment. LOL. Like the Little Fox and drone shots. Fun to watch.
I thought the mine was just all remediated. Is there really talk of opening it again?
So cool!
Absolutely awesome
My dream to ride one day..✨️
Love your video's.... Next time take me with you..... :O)
Nice drone videos 😎🤙
I live in Europe, I don't know this region and I can't imagine, what the hell are those fellows doing there (10:57)? Is there a lake or something? From this point of view, it doesn't look like it. The landscape is stunning anyway especially to the European eye...😊
La gente hacen tiro al blanco
They where shooting!
Looks like a wonderful adventure. I'd love to ride shotgun with you!! It's a damn shame that people are such slobs. At :44 into the video where you are walking around amongst hundreds of spent shotgun shells. Shame on them.
22:05 that's my Red Dead Redemption 2 playingfield right there
44:32 Dust Devil ! ! !
Have an idea for tough crossings. Could you put some smaller wheels (like dolly wheels for instance) under the cart (between the rails) that can be dropped by a pedal for traversing the dirt areas? They would be driven off the same sprocket that the drive wheels are driven from. Theoretically you could drop the wheels when you get to a crossing to continue without having to get out, then pull them back up once you're back on the rails?
Caro Archie.
What is the big black pipe by the tracks.
The big plastic pipe delivers drinking water to the Town of Superior East of there. Follow the tracks back the other way about 7 miles southwest and there is a pumping station that takes ground water and pumps it to Superior.
the photo you took of the lock box in the ground between railroad ties...any idea what being use of what??
What caused that derail?
Since they do not have maintenance, the rails close or expand, deforming their measurement of (1435MM). On this occasion they were closed and the Railcart, being very light in weight, jumped off the rails.
Sir, how much fuel do you need for the railcart? Because the track is very long (i think)😅
What is the box?
Algum brasileiro assistindo ? Kkkk 🇧🇷🇧🇷
what is that at 47:42?
What’s next for this video, “Railcart Chasing Metrolink”? I will give you a hint: Use this music call “Mountain Chase” from Horton Hears A Who on Metrolink’s line.
What kind of a shooter that doesn't pick up the trash thay make?
Why can't you drive through that area?
😮😮😮😮😮😅😅😅
What is it with people and cans of spray paint?
👍🤙👋💯
