OK Folks, here it is, Episode 1 of The New Mini Series "10 Days, 10 Items; Alone on an Island in the Canadian Wilderness" I plan on 4 or 5 Episodes, released relatively quickly with a bonus, "Full Gear Rundown Video" Covering everything I brought, gear,"food" and filming equipment. I really hope you all like this mini series, I put a lot of time, effort and resources into traveling there, living outside for 10 days, filming and producing this. Please leave comments, like, or dislike, and subscribe if you enjoy the video. I'd love to reach 1 million subscribers, that is my next milestone. Thanks a ton to all of you, I get to do what I love for a living, and it would not be possible without you. :)

Joe, this mini series is awesome! I could binge watch this whole thing on Netflix! So good so professional!! Someone give this man his own show!!! Can’t wait till the next episode!
The Patriotic Woodsman Netflix might be a huge thing over in Americe and Canada, but for most parts of the rest of the World it's rather on the expensive side. Even compared to other streaming services. Why would you pay 15€/month for netflix when you can get for example amazon prime for 30€/year? What i'm trying to say is that he would loose many many viewers if he'd exclusively do his videos for netflix or any other service one has to pay for. Maybe he would get more money but as he has said in previous videos joe and his family are doing just fine. His wife doesnt even have to go to work. Not everybody needs to be a billionaire.
Bear actually stayed in hotels overnight. They would film in the woods usually no further than 2 miles from town. The things they don't tell you. All of those guys are full of shit. They are not really experts everywhere they go. They have people that gather then script the knowledge. But, Joe here, is in his comfort zone. He really knows the Canadian bush. He doesn't need a script. He is just genuine. When I said those guys. I was referring to pretty much all the Discovery and NatGeo fakers. It's all about the money and not about the content with them.
Esteban Jaramillo I couldn't tell you that one. But it's my guess he really did. though it is a stupid thing to do when you are dehydrated because it can damage your kidneys in dehydrated state.
Watching this alone, before going to sleep, gives me so much peace. Awesome guy, beautiful landscapes and a great adventure. Looking forward to the next episodes. Much love from Germany
I agree! I have chronic pain and trouble sleeping, so on bad nights when I need to rest but am hurting too much, I tend to watch his videos. It’s distracting but not demanding. It’s not a tv show or a book. But his personality makes it interesting enough that I really can just lay there for an hour and a half and see what he gets up to. If I sleep, super. And if not, I have distraction. Cheers!
I just found you yesterday. I am a 77 yr. old Female and I have watched you ever since. I love watching every piece of tree limb you break and every time you cook outdoors. Keep it up Joe.
@joe fucks Are people not allowed to enjoy the little things in life anymore Mr.Fucks? I was unaware of the new law banning enjoyment and fun. My apologies.
Canoed two weeks with friends in Voyager NP back in high school. Paddled 40 miles, caught pike and camped along the border. This reminds me so much of that wonderful time. Some of the best memories I have were made there with 3 of my best friends. “In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” - John Muir
Joe ive watched all your videos and love all of them so much. Ive never met you and probably wont but you make me and all your viewers feel like family. Your wife, emerald, scout, and yourself all seem like family. I live in fresno california and i love camping, fishing, and backpacking with my sons ages 7 and 13. I have nothing negative at all to say about your videos at all. Your a wonderful husband, father, and man from what i see. I first learned of you from alone and then saw your videos and i have watched some of your videos 3 or 4 times. Honestly my favorite videos are the ones where you drink beer and spirits and cook bomb ass steaks, the ones where you build shelters, and the way which you teach all your skills from A to Z. I also love watching your videos with crazy Doug outdoors and your other vids with self reliance shawn and kyle which i can tell he is smart and you two carry on like brothers constantly verbally bashing eachother. Your one lucky man joe. Im looking forward to the next chapters of your 10 item 10 day in the north. Northern lights were awsome and you went to bed at almost midnight with no booze. Lol i think the northern lights got the best of you that night. Anyways sorry for the long comment but i just have so much to say to you. Your a awsome guy and anyone who has you as a friend is one lucky guy. Keep it up you lucky skinny tough guy and drink some good old fashioned american booze on one of your videos. Vanilla ice cream 2 scoops in a bowl covered with 2 tablespoons of jackdaniles when your at home after dinner. My secret. Try it.
Hey man, just wanted to thank you for sparking my interest in camping! Going on my first 5 day hike in the mountains in a month - looking forward to it!
Joe by far your best video! The cinematography, music and you going thru the challenges of trying to catch your meal is spectacular. One of the best videos I have ever seen on TH-cam. Can hardly wait for the next episode. Great job Joe!
This was the first video I ever watched of Joe Robinet. I was staying at my friend's dad's house, we would stay up all night and watch videos. He showed me this channel and this was the video he showed me. He fell asleep around midnight, but I stayed up till 6-7 am watching this 10 days, 10 items series. His dad passed away November 8th of 2019. That man was an amazing father, and an amazing human being. I'm glad I got to spend as much time as I did with him. Now going back and watching this series again after so long brings back some great memories. My friend moved back in with his dad 3 years prior, my other friend would come over and the 3 of us would hang out and play music at his dad's house. I have so many great memories in that house in those 3 years. His dad was funny, and was a really chill dude in general. Thanks for being there.
Really loving this! One thing that would be cool, don't know how easy it would be to do, but it'd be awesome if every now and then in the corner of the screen it would pop up with a rough time, date and temperature of whatever point it is in the video. just a suggestion but this mini series is awesome!!
Hi Joe, its just below 0 Celsius here in the South of the Netherlands. 10am. Just woke up 2 hrs ago and I'm in my hammock at a friends private little forest. Was able to make coffee without leaving my hammock. Just chilling now. Hang my phone on my ridgeline inside the hammock and watching the 2nd half of your trip. You just put your socks off.. but I decides to put them on. Chilly! Not looking forward to pack everything later.. its cold and wet... but thats part of the adventure and challenge. Greetings from the Netherlands! P.S. consider buying a telescopic fire blowpipe. Cheap and lightweight. It helps to blow with force in a fire to lite it. Saw a friend doing that and works amazing!
Thank goodness. Been thinking about you and wondering how your journey was going. I was surprised that even though I have notify checked, YT did not let me know about your upload. I only found it because I happened to check your channel. Glad you are back home safe. Great first video Joe. Looking forward to the rest in the series.
Survival fishing can be done very effectively with night lines as we call them. Fished on the bottom and tethered to a lissom bendy-branch so anything hooked is less likely to break free. No rod, no reel. And strong line, no finesse needed. As a backup to your more fun rod-fishing. So you can eat... Too easy to find you’ve hit a spell when the fish are deep and hard to locate with standard cast and retrieve. Minnows and small trout are good deadbaits. Also when in my canoe I trail a set of flies behind the boat. Far less likely to hang up on sunken branches and the like. Fly fishing in the early morning and evening with a fly rod is very, very effective. Moreso than dragging spinners and spoons around, too. With our native trout, that is. (Brown trout.)
What an epic adventure I'm very envious. I only wish I could go on a 10-day Adventure like this someday. You are absolutely right about it being personal development character building experience. The complexity of filming all of this should not go unrecognized I can only imagine how many camera batteries you had or how you were able to charge them for the whole trip that's crazy! My only gripe is the saw you were using I know you are more of a traditionalist but if only I could get a silky sugowaza in your hands!
My guess is he is using a folding solar charger to charge his camera batteries, i did something like that for May long weekend to charge my tablet, NOAA weather radio, and electric hand warmers as well as everyone else's electronics. A little 28w - 5v charger can charge my 4000mah tablet battery to full in 2-3 hours of direct sunlight.
Hey CP ... Interesting how sometimes major 'life changes' have a way of opening new doors .. just sayin' .... now maybe you can plan that trip into the wilderness.. stop by our cabin on 40 acres sometime.. your base camp for a stay on your new adventure. Yes.. this is an invitation bro. Glenn

I really enjoy these long video formats. Looking forward to another mini series you might do in the future.
At 1:21:12 seeing that sunset with the calm water really gave me this overwhelming feeling of inner peace like I’ve never felt before. Great content, thanks for sharing.
Joe, you make me remember some of the guys I camped with in the US Army in Alaska. I always felt I was not tough enough as them; for sure I was not as tough but I was there too and I loved every minute of it.
I'm SO excited to see all these episodes. 10 days away from your wife and little girl, must have been hard. But I still think you have so much fun making these videos out in the woods!
Fahck Uherself the channel is bushcraft not family time at home. If you watch back a couple of older long trip videos, he says everytime that he misses his girls.
Fahck Uherself I'm not new here 😅😅 check the wintertent in the garden testing the new stove. "Nice to be close to the girls this time cause sometimes it's difficult leaving them behind"...
My life isn't in the best shape right now I feel so dark and empty but you always help me Joe, I know you may not even read this but you've made my life so much better after crying for a while I just started to watch this again and I felt the warmth in my heart and my smile brightened and all I thought was... "This is my therapy" so thank you so much 💙
@@natef.9127 Wow thank you! I am doing a little better just wishing things were like when I was younger but thank you so much the same goes to you ♥️♥️
it's illegal to camp in UK, it's called wild camping, and i love camping but i dont wanna go places u pay to stay its full of people, true camping is being alone like this, how i wish i could.
Wild camping is legal in Scotland, two basic rules:- 1. Leave the site as you found it. 2. Maximum 3 nights unless you have landowner's consent to stay longer.
Hi Joe! I saw you in the first season of "Alone" in my English class. You are very good at camping. I think camping and survival is important in life, because you learn a lot of things and it's a really cool activity. You're close to nature and you're doing well. It's really cool that you're becoming famous showing us how you go camping and giving us advice. I think it's cool to transform your activity, your job or your passion into a career. Thank you and good day.
A tip about the fishing. make the fish more tired by letting it swim some more under water. have the break on the roll quite loose, so it can swim away, but u can put some pressure by waving it in... then after a while when it seems tired, u can adjust the break harder and wave it in all the way. lift it steady but guick into the boat :) Sry if my english isn't to good !
Super awesome! Just finished watching episode one & can't wait for episode two! Thank you Joe for doing this mini series. You have such a great channel to watch! Your videos are always top quality. Take care and thanks again for taking me along!
Amazing how many people (men in particular) get to "escape" their offfice lives and journey with you in spirit . Love your videos, greetings and respect from south africa
Enjoyed this a lot especially the dialogue. Reminds me of just watching a buddy of mine instead of some TH-cam celebrity or something. Definitely will keep watching bruv
Anyone else thinking "You're sitting six inches from the water, at prime fishing time, complaining about not having any fis--FOR GOD'S SAKE THROW A LINE IN!!!"? (He said from his basement apartment...) Love your videos!
I spent a week in Canada with my grandfather on a boat in the inner lakes. It was probably one of the most memorable fishing trips I had ever been on, I look back on it fondly. The quietness and solitude was amazing, seeing the views and sounds in these videos takes me back to that week. I started watching these a couple years back and lost track, going back through them now and enjoying it immensely. Now I want to plan another visit to those same lakes again some 20 years later, but without my grandfather, he passed last year unexpectedly.
u have to click the bell in order to get notifications. there is also three settings with the bell, u can chose from. u have to choose the alwys notify option in order to get notified. that's just youtube beeing silly.
1. Axe 2. Knife 3. Saw 4. Fishing pole 5. Fishing tackle 6. Bug netting 7. Pot 8. Cup 9. Firesteel 10. Boat and oar (not just transportation but used to fish) 11. Tarp 12. Parachord 13. Headlamp 14. Sleeping bag 15. Rations 16. Shades x2 Way more than 10 items but I enjoyed it. Well done!
I've been watching these shows for months now. You are the real deal. No cans of stew, no tents with stoves in them, no plates and spoons and numerous spices, etc. You are truly living off the land. Kudos to you sir.
Dude how am I just finding you? I’ve always liked watching people go out into the woods and make shelter and stuff but you take it a step further man. I’m gonna have to do this someday for sure, really get out there and do it. Subbed for sure!
This has been worth the wait! Stoked to see the rest of this series. I’m pumped to watch this as I’m planning a trip for next year up there! Already contacted Red Lake!
Great start to the series! I don't know much about fishing: I was always told to 'set the hook.' Can you do that with that lure? My next thought was you should keep one of those well-curved, simply carved spoons to use more than once. Great scenery and great weather! Glad you are taking us along on your own mini-series!
Your commentaries, filming and true nature along these journeys is a great pleasure. This is what real men do. In your hardest times, we witness initiations, and deep dives into the source of human will. This far exceeds anything out there movie-wise. what you are going through is real, unpredictable, simple, inspirational, educational and fun. Thanks for sharing!
I still reread Brian’s Winter occasionally. Of all of them that was my favorite. And yeah I definitely think of them!! Hatchet was a very important book to me when I was first exposed to it.
A little advice for the next time.... the thing with Pike is, even experienced fishermen lose them! They fight to the very end, even when they are landed and in the boat, once off the hook they jump right out of the boat. You need to gaff them, but even then you may not be able to keep them in the boat.
Rapala is my go to lure, this week alone I caught 5 bass in less than 30 minutes. The water was slightly murky, so I chose a chartruese Rapala floating minnow (2") and even went back and caught 6 more the next day. I also want to add; around submerged rocks or debris a floating lure gives you a better chance of catching fish without losing your lure. changing your retrieve up will often trigger more strikes... trolling, not so much.
Hi Joe! I saw you in the first season of "Alone" in my English class. You are very outdoors.I think camping and survival is really cool, because you're on your own and you're close to nature. It's really cool that you're becoming popular by showing us how you do camping. I think it's It’s cool to turn your passion into a career. Thank you and have a great day.

It’s amazing
I admire how positive he is even when things get rough💯
At 1:21:12 seeing that sunset with the calm water really gave me this overwhelming feeling of inner peace like I’ve never felt before. Great content, thanks for sharing.
So cool! The northern lights are on my bucket list, glad you were able to see them. Thanks for sharing the good times Joe.
Can't wait to see it all!
Maarten Jongkind It gives them a well deserved break from that pompous ass, I'm sure they didn't miss him.
roguesquatcher when you react to something in others.. it's time to look at yourself .. just sayin.
My life isn't in the best shape right now I feel so dark and empty but you always help me Joe, I know you may not even read this but you've made my life so much better after crying for a while I just started to watch this again and I felt the warmth in my heart and my smile brightened and all I thought was... "This is my therapy" so thank you so much 💙
Hey, I hope that you are in a better place right now, and if not I hope that things will turn out for you ❤️❤️❤️
@@natef.9127 Wow thank you!

What a shame
If your so worried about that stupid law then if you live in England or anywhere near Scotland, they allow there citizens some freedom up there I hear
You could camp on someone's private property if they allowed couldn't you? Isn't that what TA Outdoors does?
Wild camping is legal in Scotland, two basic rules:-
1. Leave the site as you found it.
2. Maximum 3 nights unless you have landowner's consent to stay longer.
Try dartmour national park in the south west.
"Oh my! That's so bright!"
See only black screen haha

Pinocchio Cozad fat barb happens to be my ex wife's name.
I'm glad you mentioned that I was looking to see who would
Thank you and good day.
so sad the camera couldn't capture the northern lights
so cool you had the chance to see that
What are you talking about? I could see them.

That’s what good fisherman do. Especially if it’s big fish, u have to fight it.
46:36 when he says "it's so bright" and my screen is literally black 😂

Super awesome! Just finished watching episode one & can't wait for episode two! Thank you Joe for doing this mini series. You have such a great channel to watch! Your videos are always top quality. Take care and thanks again for taking me along!
I love listening to these for the sounds, the water, the echos, the loon :)
Love seeing videos of my local community
The beautiful thing about being alone for a long time is you realize you’re never alone
Wow those northern lights are crazy cool, another great vid Joe
A culinary recommendation for you Joe: beef or chicken bullion will make your rice taste more like a meal.
rldickie - Goya makes ham bouillon packets that are also quite tasty. (^%
Or a fish that might have helped 😉
Amazing how many people (men in particular) get to "escape" their offfice lives and journey with you in spirit .
Love your videos, greetings and respect from south africa
Enjoyed this a lot especially the dialogue. Reminds me of just watching a buddy of mine instead of some TH-cam celebrity or something. Definitely will keep watching bruv
Anyone else thinking "You're sitting six inches from the water, at prime fishing time, complaining about not having any fis--FOR GOD'S SAKE THROW A LINE IN!!!"?

Love your videos!
Fishing from the shore doesn't work very well in that environment and he needs to conserve his energy and use it when conditions are better.

Stoked for this series! Cheers Joe, keep up the great work!
OMG! When you lost that 2nd fish I COULDN'T STOP LAUGHING! Your face was pricless...
Excellent job on this video, truly enjoyed it!
Joe's face when he lost the second fish is priceless
Jimbo 😳 is his facial expression
He was definitely crying on the inside. Know that feeling all too well lol.
Yeah and then the dressing water drop

I've been watching these shows for months now. You are the real deal. No cans of stew, no tents with stoves in them, no plates and spoons and numerous spices, etc. You are truly living off the land. Kudos to you sir.
Great start to the adventure Joe, can't wait to see the rest buddy!
Justin Barbour thanks for watching, Justin!
Hope the wife and kiddos are doing well. Cheers
I enjoy when you just begin, without an intro and that scoring. If I'm the only one though them no worries lol

Right there, that sound and that smile. Thats what I live for. Chills man
Dude how am I just finding you? I’ve always liked watching people go out into the woods and make shelter and stuff but you take it a step further man. I’m gonna have to do this someday for sure, really get out there and do it. Subbed for sure!
its very relaxing watching these sorts of videos :O

relaxing indeed!
This has been worth the wait! Stoked to see the rest of this series. I’m pumped to watch this as I’m planning a trip for next year up there! Already contacted Red Lake!
Yup, this is my new background watching while working from home 😁
Great start to the series! I don't know much about fishing: I was always told to 'set the hook.' Can you do that with that lure? My next thought was you should keep one of those well-curved, simply carved spoons to use more than once. Great scenery and great weather! Glad you are taking us along on your own mini-series!
James Ellsworth i think hooks in canada lack barbs so you have to keep constant tention on it
epic video joe! i really appreciate the effort you put in these vidz mate! keep going, greetings from germany!
Loved every minute of this. Binge watched the whole thing. Great job, loved the shelter. Your the man for sure!
Sometimes it's painful watching you fish, but awesome trip and video none the less! So far up north, very cool.
Mack Hughson lol I know
When he didn't set the hook on that first fish I knew it was going to get loose.

That’s too bad you had such trouble with the pike. Those islands are sweet. Loved the northern lights you saw. Really amazing trip!
Why dose this remind me sooooo much of Brian Robeson from the hatchet series written by Gary Paulson
Bass bikes bows and bullets yesssss! Like Brian’s Return when he goes back!
OH Show's yer toaby!
I still reread Brian’s Winter occasionally. Of all of them that was my favorite. And yeah I definitely think of them!! Hatchet was a very important book to me when I was first exposed to it.
I was thinking that exact same thing while watching this.
Amara Jordan lol I’m 29 and reread it all the time since probably 6th or 7th grade
I own 4 acres of land and I stayed in the wood set part of it and it was amazing. All the natural noises and animals, it’s a whole new world
Hell yea, another great start to an awesome adventure. Really looking forward to the whole series.
A little advice for the next time.... the thing with Pike is, even experienced fishermen lose them! They fight to the very end, even when they are landed and in the boat, once off the hook they jump right out of the boat. You need to gaff them, but even then you may not be able to keep them in the boat.
Frossiart can't you just kill em soon as caught ?
@@bynx3959 , yes, I suppose you could, if you can get your hands on them, they're a pretty feisty fish.
Cain tuckee64 - When in doubt, the Rapala is an excellent choice! (^%
