Thank you for sharing ! 70 years old been hunting most of my life. Your patience, preparation, and dedication paid off big time. I know you're proud and you should be. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Fellow Minnesotan here... Wow!!! I’ve got a deer almost just like this on my property. I got my first picture of him this year and saw him twice this season (archery) but only in fields on my way home from work. Gun season is now over and the long wait begins. I’m trying to plan this out just like you did. What a fantastic hunt! Congrats!!!
I’m in zone 645 out by Winona and there’s some tanks out here. My neighbor shot a 179 inch believed to be 8 years old. Couldn’t believe the size of it. Minnesota produces. Didn’t know there was nice deer in 200
Minnesota resident here also, got my first big buck down south in Huston MN, 10 pointer typical, havent gotten one since then but i have seen a big 8 pointer at whitewater while small game hunting last year, he is my target this year for sure This so awesome, youre making me itch, really want to get out there now
Got to love the buckthorn still green like it’s middle of summer.. sucks to hunt in but bucks love it! Awesome hunt an a amazing deer! Congratulations!!
Freaking awesome hunt breakdown. What a Minnesota giant. Way to go Lemke. A well deserved buck. Looking forward to more hunt breakdowns coming down the line. Phase out, Tag out!
That is a giant!!; Congratulations!! You certainly earned it with all that work. The fact he had spotted you and walked around you through your sent proves, to me, its not just the hard work, there is luck involved as well .
Congratulations on many levels!!!! You deserve that animal. No gauranteed but you put the odds in your favor! Excellent video and sportsmen ship..... Thanks for sharing..... Great lessons learned!
This year got my deer with a crossbow, was such a long journey, right before crossbow season separated my shoulder,on October 28 i finally got back shot a 4x8
What's a 4x8 ? I'm from Indiana and we usually just say ... 8-point , 10-point , 17-point etc. But , i've noticed they usually say 4 by 4 or 5 by 5 on Muleys . I'm just curious , not trying to be a smartass or anything ! Lol
@@bartgarrett7710 with whitetail you count the total number of points, but with muleys, elk and other western animals they count how many are on the right rack “4” by how many are on the left rack “8”
I seen my target buck breed a doe right in front of me that was the first time I’ve ever seen it when he got done he snort wheezed! And gave me a good shot was a hunt I’ll never forget!
Wow nice job awesome shot what a beautiful buck what a blessing from God so blessed we are able to hunt these amazing animals thank you lord God is so good!
hey what is the thing on your right shoulder in your backpack used to detect the wind called i wanna get some but idk what it is called thank you for the help
Guarantee the thermals ha a bigger influence than you think. Scent control is key but odds are you wind was doing something else 30 yards away. Great hunt and self film. I love SE MN bucks.
I have used Phaze 3 and killed a giant 9 point and it was down wind. It works!!! Thanks for the great footage and great information that the Deer Society gives.Great Brusier
Was your processor able to confirm age after seeing jaw line? I'm curious.. down here in the south a deer with that high o af torso and that long of legs would be a three and a half year old deer. 6 1/2s + always have much shorter legs do to that drop and they usually have a pretty big gut as well. He is pretty lean especially coming out of the summer. Maybe those Midwestern deer are different than our Southern deer
What is the name of the trail cameras that you use? They seem really good quality the ones I have are not as good as yours. Can someone comment on this comment the name of the camera please!!
I went 8 years without shooting a buck. After we lost my family farm to greedy relatives, I hunted public land in West Central Wisconsin, which is limited and pounded by other hunters. Never see bucks older than 3 years old. I've passed hundreds of small bucks that just get shot during rifle season. It's a shame. I'm just a carpenter and have 2 small children, and I can't afford to lease land and getting permission to hunt private is next to impossible around here.
I am impressed with your diligence, planning, and strategy. Having your family involved and included , after the fact, will make for a truly unforgettable memory. Might I inquire, either from you, Sir, or others who might wish to comment....is the meat (venison) flavor changed or tainted by leaving an animal out overnight or for an extended periods with the entrails, etc. still intact? Is there a general ‘rule of thumb’ as to the point of not eatable? Thanks! Congrats!
@@mattwilkie9713 nah. Hunt early season too and get aggressive. Constantly be hunting new spots. If you don't harass the mature buck in the area, someone else will at some point. You might push him to an area where you can really pin point his ass
There is no doubt first 2 weeks of November are when deer breed. I don't need an expert to tell me or scientific studies. It's a fact. I'm 46 and has been and will always be. Yes they breed other times but that is when the club is packed 😂 Pick 5 hunts between Halloween and Nov 14 to have your best shot at a wall hanger. After that the deer will know you are there then it really turns to pure luck you 2 meet. If not after the first time you go into your stand.
I don't get why you are using cell cams and calling it hunting. You are a really good hunter and you know how to hunt deer a lot better than most. Cell cams are not fair chase. It's not hunting.
I liked the video except for the use of the "f" word. can you edit that out so that my great-grandsons can watch it ? They enjoy hunting shows but some they miss because of the language, this one included. Tim M. 12/24/2021
My phone goes off.... and I know the deer is there. I'm not hunting anymore. WTF. Lanny Benoit always asked people, "what are we doing cheating ourselves of a real hunting experience and calling it hunting."
They go from being stiff to loose multiple times within 24 hrs. I know this from trapping and skinning raccoons. Sometimes they are stiff as a rock within 3 hours, sometimes loose as that 8+ hours later. Its weird for sure

He hasn’t shot a whitetail in 6 years. Dang bro I would shoot any good buck that walks by after 1 year if not getting one
I’ve hunted on the private land I hunt on for 3 years and have seen 2 deer the entire time of hunting there

can I go hunt with you friend?

Congratulations on your deer 🦌 should have called him Goliath
What causes the little hole in his rack on his right side there
He may have just created a new world's record buck. Good thing you didn't take him....
I noticed your deer was not stiff?...
Great story. The story is what I enjoy the most not the shooting of the deer. I hunt and really get less from the end than the journey.
