  • This project was turned a few weeks ago before the cold set in as I have not been able to get in the workshop of late. It has also become my last video of 2022, which has been a fun year in the workshop and I am looking forward to what 2023 will bring.
When I filmed the talk at the end of the video, I was at 940 subscribers on my channel and am quickly heading to 1000. I have therefore decided to do a giveaway once I hit the 1k mark. Please see the end of the video for details of what will be up for grabs. Also, subscribe to my channel and click the bell icon so you can be notified when my video with the official announcement/entry details is up.
For this project, I took a 5"x2" Hard Maple (American) blank and I used my ‪@DremelUK‬ 4000 with flexishaft to apply texture with the coned Structured Tooth Tungsten Carbide Cutter (9934). Extra detail was added with my ‪@hopewoodturning5276‬ mini texturing tool.
The outside of the bowl was then coloured with ‪@ChestnutProducts‬ spirit stains and coated with acrylic gloss lacquer and microcrystalline wax. The inside of the bowl was sanded to 3000g using food safe oil with a final coat of microcrystalline wax.
‪@EasyWoodTools‬ Yorkshire Grit Original and Microfine were used on the outside to increase the shine of the bowl.
Turned on my ‪@RecordPowerTV‬ Coronet Herald Lathe.

John, great looking bowl! What speed was your Dremel? it didn't burn the wood at all. Also, do you get grief about using music? I get comments here and there about not liking my music. Mybe it is just my "fans"... great job Jiggsy!

    What is a JIGGSY?

  • @harveypflugerh5901

The only thing worse than no commentary is music playing.
