Wood Turning - A Tad Textured

  • I've been wanting to try adding texture to my woodturning, and this was my first experiment texturing the wood. First I turned a log into a vase, then I added dimples using a rotary tool. It took FORVER. But I really like how it turned out, so I'll probably try it again on a future project. I was also trying out a new hollowing tool, and it definitely has a bit of a learning curve!

    I wasn't digging the texture til it was finished. By the very end I loved it. Reminds me of woodpecker holes

    That looks great. How do you not burn the wood. I wanted to do exactly that but the wood keeps burning, it was mahogany. I end up with burnt holes.

    OMG! That was cool, and unique as hell, but I'm betting that by the time you finished all that, you were WISHING you could do it as fast as you made it look with the time-lapse fast-forward that you showed it as in the video. LOL! Very nice though, but only YOU can say if it was worth it or not. Take care.

    • @CookWoodworks
      @CookWoodworks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @LynnCindy
      @LynnCindy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CookWoodworks Well, it is all in what it's worth to you, as far as I'm concerned, because it really is quite unique and beautiful... I could now envision you then filling the texture with resin to end back up with a solid surface that looks textured, but with some unusual color patterns now looking like they are part of the wood grain itself. HA!
