My dad had a Ford Model A when I was 5 years old (1960). We called it the bumpity car. I have fond memories of that old car. Thank you for posting and sharing this, it brings back all the old memories.
I don't know why I'm just now seeing this, but this was absolutely beautiful, Dad! It was very sweet to see Great Grandma and Pappy's reaction. I'm sure that gesture spoke wonders to them. So proud to be your daughter!

I know this is an older video but thank you so much for taking the time and showing everything from Part 1 & 2. I want to buy a '30 or '31 pickup so this is very helpful to learn all the little mechanics and moving parts. And extremely helpful if I need to restore any parts of it. It's a shame that most younger people don't really appreciate our automotive history. I think I'll be the youngest member at our local Model A club.

I restored a Jeep (1946 cj2a) like my grandparents had on the farm but they passed before I got it finished...

My dad had a 1929 model A we never got to work on it and it was really rust free except for surface rust back in the seventies. I was happy to watch you fix yours up. You did a fine job. Life is a vapor! Like a morning mist that soon vanishes, so life is short and uncertain. Because life is a vapor we should humble ourselves before God and obey His will.

You did a fantastic job. I first realized I wouldn't know how to even start one of those when I read a time travel novel. The main character went to just before WWI and got a job by proving he could start an "A"

VERY good restoration job, it looks beautiful, I personally would have opted for original seats but whatever floats your boat, but besides that it looks absolutely great.
Congrats on getting it done. That was nice your dad and grandparents got to ride in it. Not to mention your kid getting married in the car. I hope your wife got that second date in the car by now. I kept looking at the engine wondering why it wasn't a stove bolt. Finally it occurred to me I was looking at a Ford not a Chevy.

Sir.....I must commend you on a job very well done. Reminded me of when I did my 1930 Coupe. It too was finished in 2007, but it was started in 2000. Enjoy !

By the way, ever think about the folks that assembled your Model A and the folks who owned it over these many years? Stunning to know the vehicle has outlived them all…except you, of course! Front seats were actually jump seats in a Chevy Venture or Pontiac Transport.
Just ran across this great build video, I was curious how much something like this cost to do? Parts wise that is, I know the labor would be off the charts:)
If I recall, I had $6-7000 in receipts. Paint was not counted in that.

That is Grabber Blue from a 1970 Mustang.

What kind of mini van was the seats from, name and year.
Front seats were from GM. Pontiac transport or whatever version Chevy had. They made those from 1990-99. The rear seat was from a ford. Same era. I think it was a Aerostar. Maybe a windstar.

Nice that your grandfather got to see the car restored. But god, those horrible seats. After spending all that time and money why didn't you put a proper interior in it?
Uh.. thanks? At the time, I had a deadline, and original seats were not a priority. I did buy an interior kit, but have not gotten back to it. I also prefer to leave the headliner and interior panels out. I have found that people are amazed when I can show them the construction from the inside. It's a great teaching tool.

I don't really know. I gave up tracking receipts. I think I had about $6000 into parts alone.

It's all good. We grew a little closer when I was a young man. I really just wanted him to remember the car, and he did. That's all that really mattered to me. I still have the car, and when I drive it, he's always on my mind.

Yeah, I added the music at the time because I had shared personal and family information while I was making the initial recording. I didn't have many options. These videos were initially made for me and my family.
obviously not a 1930s-vintage starter motor. Sounds like straight out of the 21st century.
Actually.... It is the original starter from the car. I did have it professionally rebuilt. It is a 6 volt starter, but I'm using a 12 volt system. More power means better turn-over.

so all of you American classic cars right there I love so much Oni American classic cars including all of your American Standard American citizens like you whoever you are that this is going to be my only opinion to say to you that make sure that you do understand and I always tell you the truth to make sure that you will understand even more if you get it from a junk yard or Boneyard or anywhere on 50 states to make sure that it discarded this is legit good and got the half of a part that's okay but it doesn't have the original paint or the interior inside then you need to you need to buy some parts and how much is it for all the parts that we stored and the workers have to pay for them because you can't do it by yourself or you going to somebody to restore of a perfect classic car but however that you need the money a million dollars you can spend the parts game the inside of the car interior that you need to spend a half of it and even worse you have to get some offers expection to make sure if you got a commission to drive your own classic car and then you got the title but I got to give you a how much is it but I'm not going to tell you it could give you a heart attack. not positive funny just negative I cannot tell you that but if you do your homework then you understand like I said this is going to be my only Penny it's not you but if you do want to listen then do your research your homework and then how much is there how much cost how much years is going to take to finish American classic cars so you will understand have a great day and good luck for this guy that he's restoring this car back to the Glory Days ever good luck and God speed on wheels :-)
I love these old car restoration videos, but why do we have to be subjected to the extreemly annoying music? I had to skip to the end because of the music and camera jiggle.
You can always use the mute button. Honestly though, this video series was originally shot for me and my family. The original video had a lot of personal information on it, and I didn't think I should share that. I covered that up with the music.
