  • In this episode I finally face a project I've been avoiding... and start putting the glass in my hot rod. It turns out, it wasn't as hard as I thought! Follow along, and be sure to watch to the end so maybe you can answer some of my questions. Also, shout out to ‪@AndysDogHouse‬ who sent me a sticker a while back for my sticker board. Thanks Andy.

    Thanks for finding my channel! This is a follow-along series while I work on projects, though some may consider it a rat rod build or hot rod build series. There's plenty of how-to, though I'm not an expert! Watch and you tell me!
    I'm just one dude in a two-car garage building hot rods and living the American Dream! Follow along- Let's build this community!

    Hey thanks for making your video, I bought my window channel kit from another source, luckily I have a model A bone yard 7 miles away, but followed your lead, installation was about 45 minutes each side that’s with painting the glass press on tracks black, keep the videos coming

    I have a 1930 2 door that has been chopped 3 inches and I knew something was missing at the top of the side windows, so I'm glad I found your channel. Now I know about the rubber you glued in the top. Lefty

    This might be kind of late but I am doing the same with my 29 Model A. I am replacing the rusted glass channel and rubber on all 4 windows.
    The part your missing is the Tudor side rear window brace A-48143 which is attached at the bottom and the middle of the sheet metal that your
    regulator attaches to. Thanks for showing the install, now how do you install the side door glass channel?

      @BadHombreGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Ron, I appreciate the comment. I actually videod how the front goes together, but have not had the time to edit and post yet. It is easier than the rear glass- mainly because the top cap on the door comes off (or doesn’t exist as in my case) making access easy.

    The rubber in the channel on the glass over time in the heat the rubber will stick to the glass much harder to remove later...

    • @BadHombreGarage
      @BadHombreGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That makes sense. Is there a better way to do it? I guess if it’s really hard to get out of the channel that isn’t too big of a deal.

      @@BadHombreGarage No you did good just hammer and glass are not friends and the glass is more fragile them modern standard car windows, i have had 2 cracks over time with nothing or any trauma to cause it..If you hammer the channel to tight the glass itself may not be resting on the bottom of the channel and when you roll up the window and bumps the pressure will be on the sides of the glass rather then the length of the bottom of the glass. Which could explain my cracks i did not install original sets and were very difficult to remove the old channels...just my perspective..

    They make a channel that accepts that rubber that goes under the top window trim.You can buy new ones for not to much.Yes it does actually push against the glass from the inside.And as a note ,when pounding on glass channel a good spray of regular glass cleaner acts as a great lube.Stay away from any oil based sprays.Ive got a 28 tudor and am going to have to replace the channel trim around each window What's the name of the company you purchased the channel from?Thanks for the video. Nice work .Please keep us updated with your project.Thx.

    What seats do you have in your 29. I’m working on one and need better seats. I’m 6’5 and had to move seats back for leg room and want newer and better seats

    • @BadHombreGarage
      @BadHombreGarage  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They are reproduction Jeep seats, like for a CJ-5. They are ok… pretty comfortable and look good. The only thing I don’t like is how tall the base is. I wish they were a little lower profile so that I sat lower in the car.

    Nice video. However, the rear side windows should lower all the way down. The rubber T strip is an inside dust seal, that fits into a grooved
    metal channel. That channel strip lays on top of the window crank support panel and is held down by the finish sill molding.
    Good luck!
