    I subscribed on the strength of this video alone, which was presented so well. I learned quite a bit here, thank you so much.

    Thank you.
    I'm looking at a Willys for a daily driver. Saw a vid where they took the whole body off just to change fluids. Almost said nope and on top the vid was complicated. You however very educational.

      There is always maintenance to be done and an ongoing restoration in progress. There will be lots more jeep videos to come.

    How often should this be done, I believed it is said somewhere in the maintenance manual for the Willy’s mb but I cannot find it.

    Would this be the same fluid and procedure for a Willys 1948 CJ2A?

    • @jeremycraft4330
      @jeremycraft4330  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Where mine is a T-84 transmission, yours is a T-90, but they should both use the same fluids.

      @@jeremycraft4330 Can I use the NAPA 90 W mineral gear oil GL1 for the front and rear differential also?

      @@stevekapp6462 the NAPA 90 W mineral gear oil GL1 is exceptionally good for moving gears with brass or copper parts and shouldn't cause any harm to your front and rear differentials. I would say it would be fine to use.

    I am about to purchase my first MB, and I really appreciate these maintenance videos! How often do you change your transmission and transfer case fluids?

      Hello Kelly. I'm sure you are going to love having a Willys MB. I change my transmission and transfer case fluid once a year. I'm sure it's more than necessary but I like to think I'm helping to preserve my 80 year old equipment and prolong the life of it. Thanks for watching my videos and I will have a lot more coming up. I'm about to start overhauling my engine.

    Your bearings are not sealed and your oil is slushing from the transfer case in to the T84 for sure

    Great video! I have a question, does it have to be 90W mineral oil, or can I use a 90W GL1? Also, my transfer case won't stop leaking, I replaced the pan cover gasket and used threat sealant on the bolts, made sure the pan wasn't warped around the bolt holes, and did not over tighten them, but still seems like it's leaking out of them. Do you use something else on the bolts? Sorry for all the questions being new to the GPW world, so am still learning. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and helping so many of us out.

      I tried doing some quick research about the use of 90W GL1. It looks like it is a good replacement for mechanisms that recommend 90W Mineral Gear Oil. After looking closer at my bucket of 90 W Mineral Gear oil I realized it even says API (American Petroleum Institute) GL1 in smaller print. Chevron Gear Oil GL-1 SAE 90 States "Chevron Gear Oil GL-1 SAE 90 are rust and oxidation inhibited gear oils that are recommended for many automotive and industrial equipment where the equipment suppliers recommend the use of a straight mineral oil in SAE viscosity grades 90 (ISO 220) or 140 (ISO 460)."
      As far as the leak.. I usually coat the gaskets with Permatex Copper Spray-A-Gasket high temperature sealant and use blue thread locker on the bolts. I can't promise it will solve your leaking issue but it usually works for me. Thank you and I sure hope this helps.
