That’s really sad that they still continued to struggle after. They were promised jobs & opportunities. They couldn’t get their jobs back, didn’t get any money from the media using them to exploit them. They were just forgotten about :/

I remeber this when I was 10 y/o, when I saw that the 33 were ok, I started crying so bad, my school became crazy, everyone screamming and crying of hapiness.
I'm chilean, and lemme tell ya'll, those 33 miners are history here, Mario Sepulveda (a.k.a. Super Mario) sometimes is invited to tv shows to this date.
I will never forget it, the whole world celebrating that the 33 miners are safe

Years after this I went to the site of the accident at the San José Mine. There is a museum there now, with a lot of information about the rescue effort and the mine itself. It is run by one of the 33 miners, with whom I shook hands. He said that after being rescued, most of them were left in a tight spot (financially speaking).
Did he also mention the carnivorous lizards they found down there?
They're NOT allowed to talk about it. That's why they were forced to sign an NDA.

Fun fact: One of the miners was having an affair and got exposed while he was stuck. His wife and family refused to attend his rescue and he was met up by his mistress instead, who forced a kiss on him.

There pickaxes broke and they forgot a crafting table
i hate when that happens i usually mine the wood in mineshafts
Plot twist: They forgot to bring wood and they forgot how to make pickaxes and they got killed by creepers and the happy ending story was made up
They could just use there hands, sure it would take hours but it's better then losing your stuff

I remember this. As well i also remember after the 2011 Christchurch Earthquake several miners were killed by a cave in. I remember people hoping for similar situation to the San Jose 33 but the cabe in was so big they were all killed in the quake.
I remember doing a weekly news about this in the 8th grade. It reached Saskatoon, SK Canada.

I remember watching this when i was 7 with my whole family, in a big old TV in the kitchen. We had bought hats and shirts and many other props with the chilean flag to wear during the matches of that year's football world cup, which we wore while watching the rescue and having a nice dinner together. One of my favorite memories that resurfaced with this. Viva chile 🇨🇱♥️

I remember a picture of this really well, the guys in the mine watching soccer using the cameras in the mine
Had just watched the actual documentary, seems this video has much information twisted or muddled up. Though this video did mention things the actual documentary did not. Everybody should go watch the actual footage the trapped miners had filmed. The drill bit breaking through for the trapped to see must have been the most amazing sight they had or will ever see. the day that they were saved was perfect timing
I was only 5 years old when this happend, but somehow I remember this vaguely. I still now my mom said to me ‘the miners are rescued via a small elevator’ while I saw it on tv. I thought something like ‘that must be horrible’ and I went on with my life, but I still thought about it sometimes. It was weird, and now it’s one of my earliest memories
