As a Canadian I can confidently say that our alarm is TERRIFYING when it suddenly starts blasting from every device in your school like a jump scare.

As a Canadian, I can confirm this is terrifying when the school has an assembly with adults and adults almost always have phones, so when this went of at the spring concert the school had to get the principal to calm some of the students down (mostly the lower grades)

Okay but as a Canadian, our alarm is TERRIFYING in real time. Those amber alerts be BLARing AT FULL VOLUME at 2 am on my tv, my family’s devices etc if there is emergencies. I’m surprised I haven’t had a heart attack yet from the alarm waking me up in my sleep or even during the day man 💀
as a canadian i don’t charge my phone unless i want to use it then waste the battery then leave it on my desk so when the alarm goes off i don’t have to get jumpscared 😭
I lived in a coastal city in canada, and we once had a tsunami warning. That alarm goes off on ALL devices. Cell phone, smart watch, tablet, computer, TV, radio. It is terrifying when it just goes off, especially when you are asleep. Definitely deserves an S tier seeing as we actually use it and test it.

As a Canadian, I can say waking up from my beautiful nap at school and the EAS just goes off the smart board, teachers phone. So loud I could hear it from my locker.

As a Canadian, when I was 4 I thought monsters were coming to abduct me. Turns out some kid just went missing and they sent out an amber alert lmao
As a Singaporean, we hear this every 15 February each year and its keeps blasting from everywhere so it is actually pretty terrifying 😅

The Canadian EAS alert is terrifying. Especially when it's not just a practice alert. When the mass stabbings went on in Saskatchewan, the alarms went off at least six times during the afternoon and twice during the night. It was pretty scary
Same I lived in Manitoba the alarm is scary. And the stabbings are all over in Alberta and Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Oh, I remember that. I was home alone for a lot of it and at one point I was trying to calm down from the constant alarms by watching a show on the TV and suddenly the screen went red with that damn sound BLARING from the speakers. As soon as it was over I turned off the TV and kept it off for the rest of the week.
Yeah, even in Manitoba it went off so many times, had trouble sleeping for a while because I was staying up just in case..
Yeah, I live in Manitoba too, the first time I heard that alarm, I was in my car, then I almost crashed when it came on. And then when this stabbings were happening, I was outside having a bonfire when it came on, and I decided that the best idea would be to go back inside

As a Canadian that alarm is really scary once it was like 2am and I woke up and there was no other sound nothing then the Canadian alarm went off its a true story and its very scary
As an American hearing the Amber Alert sound still horrifies me to this day. Just imagine being alone in the living room with just the light coming from the dining room hearing it in your headphones. Something about it just creeps me out (literally ran to my dad’s room and was like: “WHATS HAPPENING-“)

I am Canadian and I remember when I was 4 me and my grandma were chilling you know I was just eating the fresh cookies she baked while she was watching days of our lives. Suddenly our eas alarm pulls up and then while the noise is playing they are also saying tornado warning take cover immediately. And I just freaked I started crying and was scared not due to the tornado but because our alarm is terrifying. ( btw all though they did send a tornado warning to where we live we didn’t get one we did get big rain and strong wind

As a Canadian when our EAS alarm starts and it is on almost anything you can think of its not very scary but when your just watching TV and you hear it (usually for a missing child) its quite scary (also it would be the amber alert which is scarier then our EAS alarm)*

As a canadian, I do panic attacks ever since we heard our eas alarm few weeks ago. Last time I heard it, it went off 5 times on 7 different phones because of a tornado watch that litterally hit us 10 minutes later. I had to confine 17 people alone in the woods (including 8 children) for an extracurricular activity.
We had 5 minutes to run and take the necessary from the children's tents and go inside a small cabin. We lost electricity. We took what was necessary (that people could snack on) from the fridge and hope it would last until morning. Called every parent (some were off-the-grid and didn't even know that there was a tornado where we were) and asked them to stay home, that the conditions were horrible and that we would be fine. Next day, we discovered that a tree had fallen near my tent and that food was about to be wasted. We did a community bruch with everyone's food so we would have enough energy for the day (and lose nothing).
Ever since, I try to practice myself hearing it and not panic... Not working well. Ooooh well. 😅

The worst disaster in canadian history was actually the 1998 Montreal Ice Storm. This year we had the worst one since 1998 in April.

I'm from Israel and as a kid I once heard the alarm, as a kid having no idea what was happening and having my family screaming and running to a shelter it is by far the most terrifying thing to ever happen. As well as the siren hearing that at such a volume and having no idea what it is was so scary also adding that everyone was ignoring my questions on what is going on. The Canadian EAS alarm is all fun and games until every phone starts making that sound at 700 decibels at 2 in the afternoon, causing you to shit yourself in terror. We also hear it way more often than anyone else hears theirs, because that alarm is also used for AMBER alerts (someone got kidnapped and we're trying to scare the perp into surrendering them.)
Quick story: I’m from Canada, and I was in the middle of class, (before COVID). At the time, none of us had our phones in our lockers because we need to use them for a project, then all of a sudden the EAS alarm went off (for a test). Let’s just say…we were all deaf for a little while… 😂

As a Canadian I can comform our alarm is terrifying to hear suddenly when I first moved I was sitting on my porch and every day mostly at nineish the alarm gets set off to make sure its working and I thought I was gonna die 😅(ps I was already living in Canada I just moved somewhere were they do this they dont do it everywhere

when i was 7 there was a notification on my moms phone saying someone was kidnapped with the alarm sound in the middle of the night, AND I WAS TERRIFIED. I THOUGHT SOMEONE BROKE INTO OUR HOUSE

Same i was sleeping in my bed and my phone was doing that sound and i think 2 kids or 1 was kidnappedand it gave me the chills

I was camping with my grandparents and in the middle of the night like...midnight or 1 am idk i was really sleepy but in the middle of the night the sound played because of a kid that got kidnaped and the next morning the kid was found literally fine.... LIKE WHAT THE HECK! IM JUST 11 PLEASE CHILL! It's freaking scary.

I heated the Canadian EAS system for an amber alert recently. Something about a kidnapping. It scared the ever loving s*** outta me because I have never heard it before. I legit thought people were breaking into my house. And I was home alone, so even better.
My prayers go out to the kidnapped kids.
