I heard the Canada alarm legitimately before, it was when the fires got close to our place and everyone was ordered an evacuation to leave the area immediately.
Japan is actually quite terrifying because the “calm” alarm that everyone talks about is just the early warning and the second alert is scarier idk even know what to say 💀
Coming from Ontario, Canada here and gotta say, that alarm sound also comes from your phone and is used for Amber Alerts, which is cool! But was less cool before they made it so you could change it to just vibrate, so you got terrified awake at 2am by all the phones in your home going off with an alarm about an Amber Alert for a city hours away from yours. Thankful they’ve fixed it a bit
As an American, the phone alarm for the United States actually makes your heart drop by more than a mile. It went off randomly while I was on my laptop and the alarm F R E A K E D M E O U T. Trust me it's not scary when you hear it from a video but in real life it sounds scary.

Actually when the alert sounds on phone it actually scares and shocks us because even if you silenced your phone it still alarms loudly usually it notifies us when there's anything that needs our attention but most of the time it notifies us about Earthquake and Typhoons.
The EAS of The Netherlands isn't played over TV, but from the many sirens the government has placed on rooftops (no choice in the matter). They're tested each first monday of the month at 1200 hours exactly at full strength, sounding like an air raid alarm for about 1-2 minutes.
The sad part (which he might have done not on video hopefully) is that the sound is progressively going higher in pitch which makes it al the more frighting. To sad it got a low score though.

Such sirens have been around for years and are used by a plethora of countries. The name comes from, well, when they were used to warn civilians and military of incoming air raids, especially during WWII. Now they're used for many natural disasters too, they've just become a very generalized "Something bad is coming" alarm to warn everyone that can hear it. And lemme tell you, you can hear one from very far away, so just imagine a city of them all blaring at once. They can also have different speeds between the high and low tone transitions, but generally it's a lengthy transition from low to high to low and repeat. A lot of *actual* EAS alerts delivered via TV, Phone, or Radio are designed to induce a sense of anxiety and fear in order to direct attention to the message being displayed on the TV, phone, etc. The general US EAS sound is disturbingly effective, and within the US, some states also have their own versions, Enid, Oklahoma's EAS Alarm is a terrifying blend of an air raid siren, a blaring alarm, and disturbingly muffled, truly some silent hill shit. You should look into Air Raid sirens and how they function. For such a nightmarish droning sound, they're very simple machines. It's basically a very high velocity fan spinning with very broad blades meant to scoop air rapidly, and the air is funneled through holes in the fan's encasing shell. The RPM of the fan goes up and down to create the high and low pitch of the siren. So simple, yet so effective.

I’m currently living in Quebec, Canada. The EAS alarm of Canada sounds like a timer on cellphones. The sound of it is fine, but the suddenness and loudness of that alarm makes you jump off your chair. I still remember when that alarm sounded at full volume on my phone once at 1am. I had a headache that day because of the alarm. The Canadian EAS alarm just rips my ears.
It's amazingly funny how we always rate the EAS alarms based off of how scary they are, when in real life, they're not even supposed to be scary. EAS alarms are made a certain way to catch your attention. It's one of those things that that singular country uses to ensure that their people are paying attention to what the message has to say, and most contries, it's a different one everywhere.

As a New Zealander, we do have a lot of earthquakes, and that flag was an old design. I do have to say, one time I was in a room with my parents and grandparents, and ALL our phones went off. It was pretty scary ngl 😂

The Australian bush fire alarm is basically telling you if you don’t get inside, you’re gonna die and you can’t leave so Japan thank you for trying to keep us calm

As an American, I had one EAS alarm, this was during a severe rain storm. It was like flooding reported for your local area. I had to drive to school, and I see like 6 inches of water or a foot in the street, so I decide to drive anyway.

Coming from Ontario, Canada here and gotta say, that alarm sound also comes from your phone and is used for Amber Alerts, which is cool! But was less cool before they made it so you could change it to just vibrate, so you got terrified awake at 2am by all the phones in your home going off with an alarm about an Amber Alert for a city hours away from yours.

The EAS of The Netherlands isn't played over TV, but from the many sirens the government has placed on rooftops (no choice in the matter). They're tested each first monday of the month at 1200 hours exactly at full strength, sounding like an air raid alarm for about 1-2 minutes.

1:06 My man, that's just an Air Raid siren, in fact a lot of these are just Air Raid sirens, which are not the same as an EAS alarm. Such sirens have been around for years and are used by a plethora of countries. The name comes from, well, when they were used to warn civilians and military of incoming air raids, especially during WWII. Now they're used for many natural disasters too, they've just become a very generalized "Something bad is coming" alarm to warn everyone that can hear it. And lemme tell you, you can hear one from very far away, so just imagine a city of them all blaring at once. They can also have different speeds between the high and low tone transitions, but generally it's a lengthy transition from low to high to low and repeat.
A lot of *actual* EAS alerts delivered via TV, Phone, or Radio are designed to induce a sense of anxiety and fear in order to direct attention to the message being displayed on the TV, phone, etc. The general US EAS sound is disturbingly effective, and within the US, some states also have their own versions, Enid, Oklahoma's EAS Alarm is a terrifying blend of an air raid siren, a blaring alarm, and disturbingly muffled, truly some silent hill shit.
You should look into Air Raid sirens and how they function. For such a nightmarish droning sound, they're very simple machines. It's basically a very high velocity fan spinning with very broad blades meant to scoop air rapidly, and the air is funneled through holes in the fan's encasing shell. The RPM of the fan goes up and down to create the high and low pitch of the siren. So simple, yet so effective.

I’m currently living in Quebec, Canada. The EAS alarm of Canada sounds like a timer on cellphones. The sound of it is fine, but the suddenness and loudness of that alarm makes you jump off your chair. I still remember when that alarm sounded at full volume on my phone once at 1am. I had a headache that day because of the alarm. The Canadian EAS alarm just rips my ears.

It's amazingly funny how we always rate the EAS alarms based off of how scary they are, when in real life, they're not even supposed to be scary. EAS alarms are made a certain way to catch your attention. It's one of those things that that singular country uses to ensure that their people are paying attention to what the message has to say, and most contries, it's a different one everywhere.

The thing is, is that I live in Canada and in my area, 8/10 EAS alarms that go off are tests to make sure that everyone is getting them, but it still scares me every time 💀 (but last time it was a pair of brothers who murdered (?) and injured some people that were scary close to where I live... so yeah, it shakes me up every time)

As an American, I had one EAS alarm, this was during a severe rain storm. It was like flooding reported for your local area. I had to drive to school, and I see like 6 inches of water or a foot in the street, so I decide to drive anyway.
I had a alarm on my phone not to long ago with a *flash flood* warning!
Edit: i just remebered there was a *dust storm* at like almost at the same excat time😨
