    If the 13700k is a little better than the 12900k and the 12900k is only 3 percent slower than the 13900k - does that mean the 13700k is basically as good for games as the 13900k?

    Tarkov definitely benefits from large cache because it's pretty poorly optimized when it comes to memory. That's why 5800x3d was such an insane boost in Tarkov, would be curious to see it added in the mix at some point to see how it compares to these cpus

    • @GGYlenol
      @GGYlenol 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@GGYlenol 5800x3d/amd chips are weird on many games. i think it's mostly just windows task manager assigning cores not optimally or just games not asking the correct info for amd (i don't know how to explain in english)
      i've been messing around with registry and priorities and other stuff. With very different results. On modern warfare (just for testing simplicity), i can get up to 10-30% improvement on 1% low and same for 0.2% low (fixed fps).
      with uncapped fps, the 0.2% lows dropped more then 50% 😆

      At 1.52 - 1.55v should not need an active fan (just decent case cooling should be enough) and you can probably hit 3800 c14-14-14-34 with ease. Bring down trfc to 280-260 or so (this is very temp sensitive, could cause crashing beyond this point)

    @Frame Chasers, i think you should start adding some mid range DDR5 in your comparisons. Something like a 5200hz or 5600hz in which i assume most of the buyers have. (Since 7600hz are not widely available yet) Also, another thing, start adding stock 12900k's and 13900ks out of the box that are not overclocked to max. Again i assume most of the people are usually buying those and using those as they come. Other than that amazing review! :)

      5200 DDR5 is horrid, you may as well stick to DDR4 at that point. Also, given the name "frame chasers" it makes sense why he doesnt bother with stock settings. Thats what all the other reviewers do anyway.

    nice honest straight to the point reviews. some good ddr4 will get you a long way maybe even skip ddr5 completely. I totally agree. I feel like ddr5 was overhyped just like 5G was. Gigabyte tachyon z790 just got some 9300 ddr5 memory speeds. Might be worth comparing with the fastest ddr4 (5333 I believe) and the lowest latency ddr4 possible. What I want to see is how the fastest ddr4 (5333) compares with the lowest latency ddr4, and then see how the currently fastest ddr5 (9300) compares to some more mainstream low latency ddr5 and then the results between these 2 generations. Is it worth going for the 5333 or just stick to some good 3200 or 3600 or 4100 ddr4? (surely will depend on price and % differences in performance) or invest a bit more and go for ddr5 (but mainstream affordable low latency ddr5 or its worth waiting for the high speeds 9000+ to drop in prices because the performance % difference will start to actually matter, which I doubt will be the case as we've seen with memories so far, but maybe those rly high speeds will start making a difference?).
    Edit: Might be worth just waiting for 13900ks and zen 4 3d v-cache and then seeing what the fastest ddr5 speeds attained have become and doing the tests then. Or just do these tests now with what we have and update later when these products launch as its still like 2 months plus away.

      Exactly, if you buy a 4090 and you don't play at 4K, you are kinda dumb. Just go with a 3090 if you play at 1440p. 4090 is for 4K with 240hz monitor. Warzone runs at 250fps at 4K with a 4090 no problem (and no DLSS BS). This is a 4K monster

    Interesting thing with turning off the E cores, while yes, you'll gain fps at lowest settings 1080p in SoTR, you'll also lose even more performance if you turn the settings up to High/Highest preset. In my testing I hit 309 fps E cores off vs 301 E cores on, but on the highest preset I got 285 fps E cores on vs 248 fps E cores off. So, if your playing 4k high/max settings don't turn off E cores. I ran multiple passes to prove this because I wasn't expecting it either.
