Beautifully played song, beautifully sung by a beautiful woman. It rips my heart out that it and I have aged nearly 50 years. I'm an old story that couldn't help but grow old. Will it be alright? It's getting harder to pretend, as that beginning keeps nearing its end. Thank you, Rita, for this eyes-closed dream that I can be with you, once again. For three and a half minutes, I was not alone, but now... ? I can't help but cry some more - and it may never end.
Miss this music. Yes, radio stations do play 1970s-80s, but it's always Kansas, Boston or Journey. That doesn't take me back. Rita Coolidge takes me back. Beautiful soothing music and a natural beauty. No hair extensions or plastic surgery. Just a naturally beautiful woman

Rita Coolidge was married to Kris Kristofferson when she had an international hit with “We’re All Alone” (1977). In contrast to her other cover that year, “(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher and Higher,” this version stuck close to the original (1976) by singer-songwriter Boz Scaggs. A TOP-TEN HIT FOR MISS COOLIDGE❕💙🎼💚

About this stirring up emotions: I have the same with this song that has been lingering in my mind for decades, until recently I figured out what song it was and by whom, by using Google's "what song" feature and simply humming it. I have the theory that your "long forgotten associations" just mean that back then at the time the song was popular, you already liked it a lot. Just like I did and still do.
This is the other big Rita Coolidge song. You hear the name and you think she's the lady that did that James Bond song for Roger Moore. But All Time High and this one deserve much higher rating in the scale of these things. Granted it's not Shirley Bassey or Carly Simon but this is pretty daynged good!

At this time, the sound of music definitely changed thanks to superior technology, and very different genres such as pop, disco, heavy metal, symphonic rock and rock ballads like this song became strong. In my opinion, Rita Coolidge n Anne Murray n Carly Simon are among the natural talents who solemnly sing from their heart n soul. Do you agree ?
Yes good point they are all naturals
Yes I do!!!!

Outside, the rain begins
And it may never end
So cry no more
On the shore, a dream
Will take us out to sea
Forever more, forever more
Close your eyes and dream
And you can be with me
'Neath the waves
Through the caves of ours
Long forgotten now
We're all alone, we're all alone
Close the window, calm the light
And it will be all right
No need to bother now
Let it out, let it all begin
Learn how to pretend
Once a story's told
It can't help but grow old
Roses do
Lovers too, so cast
Your seasons to the wind
And hold me, dear
Oh, hold me, dear
Close the window, calm the light
And it will be all right
No need to bother now
Let it out, let it all begin
All's forgotten now
We're all alone, oh, we're all alone
Close the window, calm the light

Unas d mis celebres cantantes d los 70 es sin duda Caly Simon y aqui no la veo si a mi amorcito d Duran Duran q luego c su humildad q noes poco se sumo Nick Rodes y muy lindo señor ❤❤❤
14 when this came out. What a time! Hope our young people can get into some of the music we were blessed to have. Better times too.
RITA WAS A GREAT SINGER I LOVE THAT SONG WHEN I WAS 7 YEARS OLD AND STILL DO AT 53 YEARS OLD.
She is still alive and still performs...
This song was everywhere back in the day. I liked the song but never really fully understood it's value until there were no more like it again.
Beautifull song and Beautifull lady
If I heard God right you need me more than I need you. You love me more. So I am not the only one going to die.
Hello Deborah how are you doing today??
Tempo que as músicas tinham história, contexto, profundidade e nos remetia a algum momento da vida. 3/12/ 2024 para daqui uns anos lembrar...
This is one of the most moving love songs ever, and yet the word LOVE is only mentioned at the very end.
Just had a Jr. High flashback while watching this. Thank God we still have memories.
This is a lovely song❤❤❤❤❤❤well deliver Rita
How can any of you say this is a sad song? It's a HAPPY song. When she says that they're all alone, it means she's and the man she loves are alone at last with no disturbance from others. Far from being sad.
Boz scaggs I read meant for it to be sad upon his divorce.
Far from being sad FOR YOU. Just because people don't feel the same way you do, that doesn't mean they're wrong.
Beautiful voice....it reminds me for the past time, so sweet
