    What do you think of her sentence?

    • @fortyseventhronin
      @fortyseventhronin 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      She absolutely is getting off WAY to easy because of both her gender and her age. South Park did an amazing episode in which they highlighted this double standard. Kyle goes to police to report that a female kindergarten teacher is having sex with his little brother. At first, the police assume it's a female student and a male teacher, so they respond with shock, horror and urgency. But as soon as Kyle clarifies it's the other way around, the demeanor of the police immediately changes to "Nice 😎"

      I wouldn't even call it a sentence. 20 years minimum should be an automatic sentence for csa offenders. Women get off scot free for these crimes. Also men who write comments like 'wish my teacher had...' are sick in the head.

    I agree with all your points. 😊Completely aside, as someone in my 40s working in the MH field I find adolescents the scariest group to work with! 32:00 if she was interviewed by the employer after the complaint, I’d bet she would’ve lied and played down the complaint. Hypothetically saying things like “ he’s troubled, he lies for attention, he’s just trying to act out, I would never do something like that, the mother is being difficult”, so they leave her in the job.

    I think the sentence is too low. Sex crimes and crimes against children should be harsher. In my state I have seen people sentenced more harshly for possessing weed than a 19 year old guy SAing a 13 year old girl. He didn’t even have to register as an SO.

    This is such a frustrating case. I don’t understand why the sentence is so light. Is it because recidivism rates among female 33:49 does her having a child mitigate anything? What about her child’s safety and the safety of her child’s friends? She has no record because she’s never been caught before now. There’s nothing sincere about this lady imo. Cc'ing parents when workin with under 18 year olds clients is a grey area. On 1 hand, in Colorado, if you are 12 or older, parental consent is not required. What if the parent is the problem and doesn't know their child is getting treatment. That could breach confidentiality. On the other hand, getting parents involved could help strengthen the child's attachment. (No wonder they stress erhics so much in school😅)

    • @Therapy2Day
      @Therapy2Day  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yep specifically 42CFR if I remember correctly, youth don't need parental consent to seek substance abuse treatment. Within my context, all of my clients are there because their parents are bringing them, not that they seek counseling independent of their parents. I should have clarified that, because it's not true in every context

    Not a legal expert, but from watching a lot of true crime I have seen that you don't actually have to provide all the bond money yourself. It's kind of like taking a loan, so you can put down say 10 or 20% and then someone has to vouch for you with an asset, like a house, or you use a bail bondsman. If you don't jump bail then there is no issue. There was a great movie, years ago, called Winter's Bone where these kids were about to lose their home because the dad skipped his court hearing thereby negating his bond. He put up the worth of their farm as his collateral. Unfortunately he had been murdered & hidden, so they were about to lose their home unless they could prove that he was killed and produce a body. Jennifer Lawrence's breakout film.

    • @TrueCrimeDoula
      @TrueCrimeDoula 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Therapy2Day Right, that's the purpose of a bail bondsman, which is kind of a genius idea -- like using a credit card. So if you can't pay the bond all at once, someone pays for you with interest. If you CAN pay the bond yourself, you get it back when all court appearances have concluded.

    My logical brain knows I'm probably being unfair, but I have absolutely less than zero trust in social workers. In my experience, they are manipulative and controlling with little to no respect for the boundaries of others. Case in point, a social worker asked me for the name and contact details of a lawyer that I had hired. I told her no, I was not going to do that, as it was my personal affairs and none of her business. She responded by trying to be sneaky about it and asking me what state the lawyer was in. I told her absolutely not because I knew she was probably going to, in the words of another social worker I had encountered "play detective."

    • @Therapy2Day
      @Therapy2Day  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes absolutely I can get why you'd have problems with social workers based on that experience. There are times when they have to cross normal social boundaries (when abuse or neglect might be a concern), but also keeping in mind that there are some social workers who are bachelor's level, and some who are master's level (Payton Shires was a master's level LCSW I assume) who should have more training in ethics and specifically clinical work.

    A $50000 bond, usually as a $5000 in cash.And then the other forty five is put up by the bonding agency. Ugh i’m so disgusted by her crimes and i literally cannot wrap my head around how she could have done something so heinous. Unbelievable that she might have gotten a lesser sentence because she has a child of her own. She should NEVER have access to children ever again, especially her own child!
    I’m not really sure how sentencing works and I know men often get shockingly low sentences for SA as well, but from the way the judge was talking to her I think patriarchy played a role in her short sentence. The patriarchal model doesn’t permit a boy to be a victim of sexual abuse and a woman to be a sexual predator - it doesn’t fit into the narrow gender roles properly.
    So instead you’ll have people downplaying the child’s victimization, even potentially congratulating him and treating his abuse as some kind of “win” that makes him more of a man.
    Meanwhile the judge will be paternalistic toward the child rapist because he can’t conceive of a pretty young woman being a sexual predator. Men are supposed to be the ones who seek out sex, sometimes going as far as to commit rape. Women don’t seek out sex - they’re supposed to be the prize for men who play the game well. How could the prize become the predator? It must have just been a mistake, just a brief moment of insanity. So she can be released without any concern of her continuing to abuse children.
