1:48:25 I did something similar in the first Subnautica except my version was a shrine to the Aurora. It had the Aurora poster on the wall and the Aurora model on the counter. I placed it in the moonpool so I would look at it every time I returned home and got out of the Seamoth/Prawn Suit. A shrine to the Aurora, a memorial to the lives lost and a momento to remind myself of "why I am here and why I keep going."
Hopefully this isnt much backseating but there is actually a volume bar on the jukebox itself if you want to lower the volume!, I hope you enjoy the rest of the game because its really good glad to see you back Captain! ❤
Building the base: "That was needlessly complicated" Well, yes it was. Especially considering that the solar panel would most likely have worked on the first placed rooms. It doesn't need to be that high up. It works as long as sunlight can reach it and Subnautica is very generous when it comes to daylight and depth.
All this lol. I'm late to the game watching this but watching this episode hurt a little and I can't help think "I hope someone said something for lukael for future plays about the solar panel placement."
Yea. He did similar in the first one too. I think he placed like only 1 or 2, and when he lost power during the night, it didn't click that they only work in the daytime, heh. Yea, definitely painful to us builder types especially when he tends to be really intuitive. But, he plainly says that he isn't a builder, heh.
Ooh the screenshot is one of my favorite moments and also sadly the one thing I got spoilered on before playing. Even with a compass I get lost constantly in this one. Gave up and found a map mod. The weather effects are so cool to watch. The night sky is pretty great too. Those stupid brine fish are incredibly annoying. The increase in edible plants is fun, seeing what you can eat and what effects it has. I love Cranky Old Lady. Love that the skyray just came in to visit :D I always giggle imagining the character just running around with wiggling fish in their pockets. I applaud Emmanuel's voice actor for making a character I want to punch from literally word one. So slimy. I love Fred the truck driver. He just seems like a fun guy. I also love Jeremiah and his beef with the skyrays. Somehow my ability to get lost in the ocean is nothing compared to my ability to get lost on land in this game. It's somewhat impressive. Love that you can just climb into hot springs and it's fine. Ah, the angry screamy bois! (Cryptosuchus) Deciding where to build that first base is always so intense. I'm a lazy bum and tend to just do it right where I dropped at first just so I don't need a second fabricator, but the heat vent thermal plant option is so convenient. I love that the PDA voice in this one is more sarcastic than the one from last time. I had such a headache finding diamonds, you are so lucky. I did not know you could eat those mushrooms. They really did increase the odds of not starving to death this time around. Air tank and battery charger are seriously the best things to have. The five quickslots can get annoying but I always just figure that while *we* are playing a survival game, the character was just going about their day and had no reason to expect to need their tool belt or whatever :D I think there are solar panels on the sides of the drop pod, they look kinda like wings where windows would be. Love the Jeremiah apparently hated skyrays so much that he took the time to create and print a poster about it :D The jukebox is fun and gets even better :) The 'Coffee completed' voice is so cute. I love seeing how much you've gotten done and knowing just how much you haven't even glimpsed. After all, we can always go deeper...
The little home is coming together ^^ I think i remember why that "Say no to sky-rays" poster exists... not sure if you found the PDA´s for that, but there are hints from a Worker who is not a big fan of the birds ^^ No importatnt Info, i just did remember that :-)
no copyright worries over the songs in the jukebox. the devs had fans of the first game submit their songs for this game to be included but they also had to sign over copyright to them for inclusion. my fav is a banger called "diving in too deep". I hope you find it :)
That is half true. If you play the music on youtube you will get claimed. Ive watched alot of playthrough and they all end up stop using it because they still get claimed and they have to contest every one on them or they are demonetized.
I love your face when you got the big surprise haha. Love it! One little tip for the scanner room - those cameras can be used to increase your range of the scanner. So if you take each camera in opposite directions you effectively get 3 bubbles to scan instead of just the one around the scanner room itself. I've been looing forward to this series for so long. Keep it up dude, you've got a lot to come yet :)
Nice little base! I like the new decorations you can find, very fun. I feel like you are right, the devs seem to have made the beginning sequences pretty quick to let you get the basics done so you can discover the story. Your little mini-heart attack was fun to watch, sorry! I was waiting on that. It is very addictive and fun, with lots more to come. Thanks for sharing the fun!
Coffee is diuretic I think if it's said like that in englsih. it makes you pee. Well, not the coffee but the cafeine. That's why it makes you lose water. But, the difference is very small. Both in game and in reality. You would have to drink a lot of coffee very often to really notice. By the way, alcohol is diuretic too, but for slightly different reasons.
I like your playthrough. You mentioned earlier that you don't want hints, and I really wanted to mention something about getting frozen by the brinewing, but I will respect your wish. As for the jukebox, I don't know if this counts as spoiler or back-seating, but you can add your custom music to the jukebox by dropping them in the right folder.
47:00 I love my Dad. I hug him and tell him how much he means to me. He is going to be 80 this month, has had 2 mini and 2 major strokes, and is now paralyzed on the left side of his body. I hate seeing like this, since he has been a strong role model for me. Mom takes good care of him and so does my little brother who lives close to them.
It is great watching the game play and he has been carrying a beacon for most of the game in his inventory. Then talking about not having a beacon for the new base. Great watching and makes me laugh a lot.
When I saw the new episode notification I was really excited and hey, love watching you playing the Below Zero. And man, I'm so happy that you discover that Jukebox! I like this base, it's quaint, and I think your logic on placement is super sound. Also, with regards to the PDA you found based on Manny and his husband, you did find a PDA in the Aurora in SN that kind of had similar language, and I think I properly recall that you had a similar reaction to the commoditizing of relationships. I look forward to you finding more of the PDA's regarding the interpersonal relationships between the members of the team. I can't wait to see your reactions!

Tu peux malheureusement decouvrir lhistoire de cette opus dans le (mauvais) ordres. J'ai ecouter probablement plus d'une cinquantene de playthrough (oui j'ai pas de vie haha) et ceux qui n'apprécie pas c'est vraiment souvent pour cette raison. Hey Lukael. Reread the description of the solar panels (and for the Beacon.). I believe the depth for solar panels is like 100 ft. deep while losing effectiveness going deeper.
I hope you use the jukebox more often. There are some great songs from fans/TH-camrs on it (copywrite free music). You can also adjust the volume on the jukebox

The new Zenoworx Drop-pod seems to be more purpose built than the Alterra Lifepod, it does have solar panel “wings” deployed on the outside, you just can’t see the solar power cells from the inside and you don’t have to worry about its “charge”, an upgrade from S1. I like your starter Base! Consider experimenting with the tube compartments you’ve not used, they may reveal functions you want? Why do you assume the solar panels won’t work at depth without testing that assumption? 🤔
4:20 no both games are hand made, your game is the exact same as mine only the escape pod location in game 1 is random, i dont know for sure but i think the drop pod on below zero is also random. Oh also recourses are random
The drop pod in BZ is in fixed location, and random for Subnautica 1 (in certain range - it it always located in Safe Shallows biome). I'm pretty sure resourses and fragments are also in more or less fixed locations in both games.
Bases didn't have beacons on them in the original game either. you either had to place a deploy-able beacon at your base's location or use the beacons from the scanner room cameras to find your base. This game has the third option of building a control room, which I recommend building when you can.

I started writing a little thing about the goddess Proserpina, then noticed the different spelling. Could you imagine, being named after your parents' own hubris? They pursue wealth and name their daughter such... That said, there are plenty of American names these days that suggest this is an increasingly-common practice. I am kinda whatever about it, but you know the kids are not gonna love their childhood being named Superfly or whatever. I don't think naming your son Sue works the way Johnny Cash joked about. :) Hey, they spelled 'liaison' correctly the second time! Not answering rhetorical questions even though I want to. It's sad that the vertical tubes can only connect to one module type, it makes base design look not very orderly the way they have it. :\ Oh damn, you found a hack! I cannot tell you how much titanium I've scraped from 4546B just to build towers to reach the surface for solar. I wonder if solar works different in this game. I know the formula from the first, but it feels like in this game that the constant storms should stop solar from working. No idea if they programmed that in though, doubt it. Coffee is pretty dehydrating. In fact, pretty much all of my favorite liquids are. These days I also drink a pretty strong electrolyte beverage, at least once a day, to make up for all the ways I dehydrate myself. It is good that they give you the primary blueprints right away. If they didn't, this game would feel like a lot of fetch quest running back and forth. Whereas in the first game, they made getting new blueprints fit in with the plot/ progression really well. Now that daylight savings is over, I get home from work by 4 PM. I am glad you upload at noon, so that I have a chance to watch without staying up late. The other people I subscribe to don't start putting out content until 6 or 7 PM. It is really weird getting used to waking up at 430 every morning. It takes me SO long to get moving in the morning, so I can't afford to be distracted once 9 PM rolls around. Gods, why is aging so lame?! 😆
You've made a lot of assumptions before building the base... Trying hard, not to backseat, but I would recommend just trying out some stuff that you would think does not work. Can't hurt to try, right? I think Below Zero is better than its reputation. It's a shorter, more linear experience and a bit of a different style, but I don't see anything wrong with that. I love both games and can't wait for Subnautica 2.

I don't know about you, but i love Below Zero's soundtrack, it just fits so much to the atmosphere of the game. Definitelly one of my favorites.

I think you'll find that, although you get a lot of blueprints early, minerals and exploitable plant materials are scarce in this arctic environment.

The other people I subscribe to don't start putting out content until 6 or 7 PM. It is really weird getting used to waking up at 430 every morning. It takes me SO long to get moving in the morning, so I can't afford to be distracted once 9 PM rolls around. Gods, why is aging so lame?! 😆

You've made a lot of assumptions before building the base... Trying hard, not to backseat, but I would recommend just trying out some stuff that you would think does not work. Can't hurt to try, right? I think Below Zero is better than its reputation. It's a shorter, more linear experience and a bit of a different style, but I don't see anything wrong with that. I love both games and can't wait for Subnautica 2.
