I'll make my standard recommendation for Subnautica playthroughs here: pre-record 3-5 hours of gameplay and post the videos on a time delay. That way, if someone posts a spoiler (and someone will, it is inevitable), you'll have several hours of "unspoiled" gameplay. If your backlog isn't sufficient for you to organically discover whatever the spoiler was about, then... Well, at least _some_ of the time the spoiler was justified. It's the best compromise between "Ignoring comments" and "Getting spoiled."
This is why Liera is a good letsplayer, plays it her way, no exceptions ! Best way to watch someone play a game blind, is to truly watch them play it blind and like I said, do it their way! 😊
So much of the fun of this game is exploring gradually. I don't know why people insist on backseat gaming so hard with it. If someone gets really stuck a hint to point them in the right direction can be helpful but there is no point in rushing people through the game.
Great to see someone who fully gets how to play this game, scan everything, read everything. The mount of information this game gives you if you bother to read it is phenomenal. I'm sure you'll manage doing the deep water stuff, this game is great at easing you into those areas. I''m looking forward to watching your playthrough. (Non spoiler info) As for saving, the game auto-saves every time you enter/exit your life-pod or a habitat, if you die you drop what you've collected since you last auto-saved and you respawn in that location. Resources do not respawn but they are abundant. Once you learn where to find stuff you should seldom ran short on resources.
Yay Subnautica \o/ If I can offer one piece of advice it is that the lifepods are not the be-all and end-all of distress calls, they are more like invitations to explore the wider area around the pods. I enjoyed this very much. Keep scanning and don't die 😂
For a second I weirdly thought you meant Below Zero and wanted to write a comment about it being bad. Then I re-read it and realized you actually mean Subnautica 2. So your comment ignores the existence of Below Zero, which I think is good. I never finished Below Zero, but watched some videos on it and decided it wasn't worth my time finishing it when instead I can play so many other better games or play Subnautica on hardcore and/or creative.
@@the0neBoio Below Zero is mostly alright, but I lost interest when there were prolonged action sequences above sea-level. I think that's a great example of a game that could use some cutting of content.
Regarding your question about random generation. The terrain of the world is not randomly generated. Of you find a cave, that cave is there in every playthrough. The location of your lifepod has a few locations it can start in randomly, but they will be in the same biome. Other lifepods are fixed. Some resource nodes might have some random spawn variation with a biome. I'm not certain. Judging by the variation of other specific resources, nodes are probably varied within a biome as well. The resources a biome contains though are not random. The material result when the node is harvested is sort of random. If a node gives 3x, 5y, 8z. You will get 3x, 5y, 8z every 15 nodes you harvest. What's random is the order you get them. They basically draw from a pool and that pool only refills once it's completely empty. Creatures are not random. Some respawn, some don't. Details withheld to avoid influencing your actions. Most resources are finite, but you won't realistically run out of any progression critical resources.
This game is phenomenal for a one-time playthrough. I don't find it all that replayable since most of what makes the game good revolves around discovery and exploration etc. That said, playing the game offline is definitely the way to go, so kudos to you for aborting your first attempt in favour of this one (:
Both played and watched hundreds of hours of this game, let me just say, you do GREAT content! I like how you scan, read everything and you share your thoughts... thx (also the afterthoughts at the end) As I'm not native to English I appreciate how well spoken you are. Those extra thoughts about context and your choice of words makes you come across as knowledgeable to me. Audio/video quality and the edits was top notch. A feminine laugh, sweet smile and a pleasant voice also makes your video enjoyable :) Looking forward to next vid!
Your inquisitive nature is one of the many qualities that make your playthroughs so enjoyable. If you were one of those people who will just rush through games then I wouldn't have completed your Mass Effect series (:
I really enjoyed watching your play through and hope that you will continue this game. Your thoughtful, relaxed and curious play style approach is what caused me to subscribe to your channel. All the best in the New Year!
Glad you picked it up again. It is scary and it is supposed to be, but it is an amazing game and you will love it. Keep following the instructions the game gives you, you will have more fun. And scan as much as possible, there are a lot of blueprints you can gather, you will need them later. Liked and subscribed! GL.
Hi Liera, First time coming across your channel. I just finished playing Subnautica a little while ago. It was one of my first survival-type games, and I loved it. After the first couple of hours of panicking, struggling and figuring core mechanics out, it was a great and unique experience. I ended up spending 200 hours in this game, explored every square meter of the world (I did hand drawn maps of 5 different areas), build everything I could, and tried absolutely everything in the game. I placed Beacons at every POI and named them, so that I knew where I had already been, and so I could easily find certain key places again. So, I can only recommend - if you like the game, that is - to take your sweet time, and explore everything. For me the greatest thing about this game was not reaching the end, but the journey itself :-) Now on to your questions. The map is static. Organic things grow back, non-organic things (minerals etc) dont replenish. When you die, you loose some of the stuff you are carrying. Those items can be retrieved from the location where you died. Only "save" when you are *absolutely* 100% safe. There is only 1 saveslot. I made the mistake of saving just before dying and had to start the game over due to that mistake. After that, I only saved in the safety of my own base, before going on the next exploring adventure. There is no reload button. If you make a mistake and need a reload, just exit the game and start it again - and you will have the opportunity to load the last save. Finally, a couple of things I wish I knew when I started. I dont consider them spoilers as you are already familiar with the game. You have landed on an elevated seafloor plateau on planet 4546B, the plateau stretches out from your lifepod. Outside this plateau, there is only endless abyss that you cannot traverse. I mention this, because I spent too much time trying to traverse it. Except for 1-2 instances (where you will have a counter on screen), there is no timer or deadlines, and you can take as long as you wish with the game. In those 1-2 instances, you cannot change/prevent what is happening, only observe. I was very late starting to build a base/habitat at my initial location, and I regretted that later. Building a base/habitat will allow you to build other quality-of-life machines that will take care of food/water production, so you have more time exploring (which is the interesting part of the game, IMO). So highly recommended to start doing that early. Scan everything, read everything. There are lots of lore/tips/helpful facts/fun bits in there. Finally - at least for my sake - you dont have to edit anything out of the playthrough. I am not sitting staring intensely at your video for 2 hours. I have it running in the background, like with a buddy playing the game, sitting next to me, and I enjoy that very much 😄 Stay curious - keep exploring! 👍 /Mike
It's the telltale move of all first time Subnautica players, swimming one handed with the fire extinguisher in the other hand, your pockets bursting with acid mushrooms.
@@noisyrhysling I didn't realise what might be causing that behaviour until just recently. Someone compared it to Minecraft, where almost every item stacks into a single inventory slot. In a game like that, picking up 16 mushrooms would take exactly the same inventory space as a single mushroom. If you assume that's the inventory system in Subnautica, it would make sense. However, I don't remember believing mushrooms would stack, and I still picked up half a dozen the first time. So it isn't a fully satisfying explanation.
Love that you're playing this - means two of my favourite games going on at the same time. 1:55:22 - Resources don't respawn unless the game has to reload the area for some reason. This did happen quite a lot when the game was in early access, so some resources will still tell you that they _do_, but the devs have confirmed that they don't (except I think some of the small fish).
you appeared on my youtube front page at the EXACT right time - I just had a bunch of other people wrap their Subnautica lets plays. PLUS you read the PDAs! Can't wait to join you on this exciting and fun journey!
Also, my BIGGEST (non spoilery) advice is to enjoy the ride! Never be worried that it's boring for us, or that you're not making quick enough progress through the game. My experience (both from playing the game and watching people play the game) is that you feel like a complete dummy for a while (usually like 5-9 hours or so), and then suddenly everything kind of snaps into place. We all go through it! We're here because we WANT to see you experience it, no matter what :)
Subnautica is one of those games I wish I could play for the first time again. But, until I suffer some head trauma, watching other's first times is still fun. Tip: Running out of O2 leads to blacking out. However, after your vision goes, you have a few seconds more to reach safety. So keep swimming! Also, Progress = Depth.
It's so refreshing to watch an intelligent person play the game. I've watched many streamers play this for the first time, and they complain that they don't know what to do (they never read a single word on the PDA that isn't spoken aloud and don't scan anything, it's so frustrating!) so when you said "I'm gonna be reading and scanning everything" it made my day. Maybe it's because I'm from the 90's era of gaming when you had to read through the manuals and read every clue on screen to make progress in most games. Looking forward to the rest of this playthrough!
Fiiiinally! Been waiting for this for so long! If you finish the game without outside assistance then you did what the game set you out to do. Enjoy yourself, and ignore the potatoes that complain about how you do things :D
Always put beacons down at the poi's that you visit. That way you know you have been there already. Trust me i went to the same wrecks over and over again not realizing ive been there already. So glad you read everything. For someone that is afraid of the deep dark water, this game is definitely going to scare the crap out of you when going below 200 feet. There are interactive maps you can google and check out. They definitely will help you out, its a very very big map. Just love your sincere fear and im going to enjoy watching this. Really hope you do a complete playthru. It will take you some time and patience, but i subbed for the main reason is to see you finish the game. Also i plan to go and watch all your vids of mass effect. Have fun and remember the game cant really hurt you other than maybe make your blood pressure go up or make you sweet profusely or even maybe make you piss your pants lol, but you will have a blast playing it. Enjoy it!!
Excellent, someone else who actually reads the helpful info the PDA provides! I applaud your desire to play & discover the game without spoilers, it's definitely the way to play it! Subscribed, can't wait to see the rest of your Subnautica journey. I'll leave you with two non-spoiler observations that will be helpful for new players of Subnautica: 1) just like in real life, you can swim faster if you're not holding anything in your hands (others have pointed this out in earlier posts) 2) the fish swim slower at night, so if you're chasing them down for your food & water, try to do that at night. Dive in and have fun everyone!
Additionally swimming on the surface, to about a half meter down (less certain on the distance but just under the waves) results in higher speed swimming. If you want to go far swim there. Caves are dangerous for the directionally challenged, always know your way out. Try not to panic, you have about a second or two after the screen goes back to get air. I recommend getting the air bladder for this, it is an excellent early game tool for rapid surfacing.
For the Crash Fish… when they zoom at you! Zoom back! If you charge at them and past them they will explode behind you as they can’t turn quick enough… if you time it right.
14:25 Since it's a direct question I figure a direct answer is acceptable/wanted : the world is "new" in the sense that it's not impacted by your previous playhroughs, but otherwise the world is mostly fully handmade (with saltwater and love), although the exact resources spawns are mostly randomized within their biomes.
I love finding new people who are playing this for the first (or almost first in this case) time. Especially when they don't end up filling their inventory with mushrooms and ignoring the lore. So I'm, happy that you take your time, read through the database entries and try to figure things out for yourself. If it comes to that at a later point, you could cut out resource gathering sessions, though I don't mind those at all. I've done plenty of those while playing this. Some general things: - The map is handcrafted, which in almost all cases makes for a better experience in a game IMHO. The only random thing is the location of your pod and even that is limited to the shallow area. - You might want to try making bleach at least once. I found this to be better than catching bladderfish all the time, provided you have enough salt. - Taking this one step further, I suggest making everything at least once and see what it does or if you want to use it. - Like other ppl already commented: when you can scan something, you'll see an icon on the bottom right. From what I've heard it can be really hard to see when you're playing in 4k. But you'll get used to checking the corner sooner or later I'm sure. - The game will let you explore everywhere, you just have to live with the consequences 😊 - Saving frequently is a good idea. While I think there is an autosave, it's doing it very sporadic, so manual saving is always better. Other than that my advice is to have fun and explore everything. And don't worry, I think most people freaked out a few times during their first playthrough at least.
You wouldn't believe the amount of people with thalassophobia who played this game... Some of them eventually said it helped them rationalize that fear (won't get rid of it that easily of course, but it's a start!). You've taken the right decision to make this a VOD, Subnautica is a bit like Outer Wilds in that regard and is best played at your own pace, without backseat or spoilers. It's even more true with thalassophobia I guess, so take your time! Anyway, side note here, but I've discovered your channel during your Outer Wilds playthrough... I've been lurking since then so I'm hardly the most dedicated viewer, but I'm eager to watch this playthrough (and potentially Below Zero?)! Subnautica 2 has also been announced, by the way! ::)
u had an INCREDIBLY lucky starting situation ---- never have i seen one to get metal salvage directly under ther pod, making the first steps super nice, also TWO infected specimen together in the first hour is also some deep lore exposition i saw players only get way later -- and the amount of bladder fish directly at ur pod, u dont need to go on a hunt for tem :O ... all in all, an incredible comfortable RNG
Yes, having a chat and all that comes with streaming makes for a less interesting play through of the game. At least for me as a viewer. Good luck, I am looking forward to this! :)
This is a nice, relaxing game. Maybe not for people with thalassophobia, but I think there were enough advance warnings for them to know ;) I've never actually properly finished this game. I always get distracted with building elaborate, ridiculous bases. A couple of times I switched to creative mode and built so many big sections the game broke. The bottom of the floor dropped noticeably, and was farther down every time I reloaded. Fun times!
This is exciting! I've watched many play-thru's of this game, but usually months or years after they were posted. I'm looking forward to (vicariously) experiencing the game again for the first time. Don't think it's a spoiler to let you know that you'll swim faster if you're not holding something in your hand (Seaglide excepted, of course).
I love the way how you play this Game, it is very relaxing for me to watch. I played it many times because i love the athmosphere , sound and immersion it provides. For 400 Sv/hr: Sievert per Hour. It is a Measurement unit for Radiationdosis. 6 Sievert/Hour counts as a Lethal Dosis Until next LP 👍
Oh I love you already! You are the only other person I've seen to date who noticed Alterra stuffed too many people on ship. You are going to be such fun to watch
Oehhhh the stormlight Archives metion. Fantastic books series. hope you enjoy it. To scan things, you need to have your scanner equipped. If you see the lower right of screen, when you look at something scannable (if close enough) it will show you a scanner icon, to indicate you can scan it. You can scan anything you can use. and anything alive. And several inanimate things.
Ha! You're in the midwest, you pronounced iron as "irohn" 😂 (nothing wrong with that!)... still, your English is amazing, Liera, I'm currently in Albania and I wish the people spoke English as well as you do... the seaglide! Now you're travelling 😄... great job playing Subnautica, I love this game!... "New blueprint ac-quired" I love that and the sound!... keep facing your fears, Liera! You're doing great! 😊 Looking forward to more...!
HZD is coming! My understanding is that there were some "technical difficulties" with the HZD video ( and possibly some holiday interruptions ) - but Liera's goal is to get these out on a regular schedule.
@Vedexent_ Cool, enjoying Subnautica, have had it in my backlog for ages, this has made me want to play it, some sense of deep water danger kept putting me off it too. HZD is my favourite game and just wanted to show support for more of that too, so not an either or but support for both. Always enjoy watching people play when it is a genuine player.
1:23:10 "Seaglide seems like a slightly more complicated instrument." I wish, I wish. Diver propulsion vehicles are just battery and propeller go brr. Rebreather must scrub carbon from exhaled breath. It is true that rebreathing was first deployed in the field decades earlier than human torpedoes, yet nowadays a rebreather will cost anywhere from 5 to 15 thousand dollars, while functional underwater scooters are available for 1/10th of that price, are significantly smaller, and require a lot less qualification to service.
Curiosity killed the cat, satisfaction brought it back lol. Also I'm terrified of deep water too 😮😮😮. Idk what's down there and I don't wanna find out xD.
considering you handled the mass effect trilogy very well im sure this time around you will do great in subnautica, i played for the first time a few week's back and im loving it. the deep dark depths do get me on edge tho thats how good this game is lol
It Is actually possible to prevent the explosion on the Aurora, although I don't think it makes much difference in game play. Depending on the type of resource node they can be finite or will respawn. Glad to see another player actually exploring all aspects of the world you've been dropped onto.
Hi liera. Just found my way back to you. Love your play style. reading is knowledge 👆😁 just one advice...when ascending, do not just "ascend"...activly swim upwards. way faster. Could save your life 👍
Das game macht süchtig. Over 500 hours und konnte nicht aufhören. Kenne es in und auswendig und darf nicht spoilern, ha. So much to do und wird so spannend. Somewhere beyond the sea ... somewhere und macht glücklich. Muss wieder lachen. Toller erster part. Need moooooooore! LG
The map is set, but your life pods spawn point in random across about a dozen spots in the safe shallows. and the exact placement of basic recourses like scrap metal is randomish... you will always find certain nodes in certain areas.
@@LieraPlays Hope you have a lot of fun with this game. I love it but even I still get spooked by some of the critters in the game. also try and keep an eye on the bottom right of the screen as that's where the "you can scan a thing" blip shows up, it has the scanner icon pop up so you know what you have and have not scanned. Really happy that you actually read to PDA and listen to the AI companion. also about the messages it is said that you were knocked out for 3 hours. most of the life pod messages happened during those three hours but since your life pod was broken it could not pick them up and they are all in repeater mode so they trickle in as their repeat timers cycle (at least that is the lore explanation). all other messages are more real time (again lore wise) there is only perma death in the hardcore option. but you chose survival so when you die you just respawn in the pod or a base you made while maybe losing items. also I think one of the F# keys is quick save you can check the options/keybinds to be sure.
here are some tips for you that the game doesnt tell you: 1. you swim faster with free hands. 2. you are able to dive to any depth, if you have the oxygen supply. some of your equipment isn't. 3. scan everything. 4. read the databyse entries thuroughly. there are many hints in there that help you. 5. swim down with the seaglide, that way you safe oxygen for more exploring deeper areas. 6. you can holster your tools, by pressing the same number key again. 7. use your flashlight only when you need it. it drains it's battery fast. 8. you can safe power of your seaglide by shutting down its map-system and the light in its front. cycle through with right mouse button. 9. make sure to use a rebreather in dephs of 100+ meters. otherwhise your oxygen consumption goes up by a lot. 10. stalker teeth are found, not collected by killing them. 11. with the scanner you can also scan yourself! 12. the gameworld is fixed. it will always be the same, with every playthrough. 13. the game is meant to be played with very little violence involved. 14. you can grab seeds from plants with your knife. you just need a dedicated space to grow them. 15. some seeds are eadible. 16. the radiation suit gives you partial protection, when not wearing the helmet. if it is worn with the helmet, it protects completely.
No spoilers/backseating but know that every question you've asked in this video _is_ answered along the way, if you look for the clues (including fish playing with metal).
40:35 well the icon in the bottom-right said you *_could_* ... but then again, not unless you have the scanner equipped. ^^ ... 1:20:42 okay, third time's the charm. 👌 PS 1:58:09 that's Sieverts/hour. The unit of measurement for ionizing radiation. ;-)
New sub here - something about your speaking cadence and vocab makes me think we'd be friends. I love this game and am excited to see it through your playthrough. 🐟🐠🐡
You swim faster disarmed and on the surface. Knowing where your disarm key is going to be helpful when you need those extra seconds to get air. The world is not randomly generated.
the game map is not procedurally generated. They did play around with doing that during Alpha, but decided it would not work with what they were trying to do.
The game is great. There's no 'right' way to play. Build up your supplies and build a base before going deeper. The music changes in certain areas. Keep track of your Air, Food, and Water intake. Explore and have fun.
1:20:40 Yes, all the sharks (and other things) will hunt, and they'll k1ll, but they'll never actually eat. The game doesn't despawn the fish/target. Easy way to catch a fast-moving peeper. :)
A couple things that you read around 1:25:00, Titanium both sharpens and BREAKS Stalker Teeth (out of their mouth)... So if you swim right at a stalker with Titanium Scrap in your hand... >^.^< You could kill a stalker, but the game won't offer teeth that way.
To be able to swim faster to the surface make the fins asap, also just look up to surface and use sprint u will get there faster. If the game still has it make the air ballon thing and you can just activate it if you have it in your hot bar and it will push/pull you to the surface insanely fast. Its a life saver. Cant remember what it was called but basically its like a tiny life raft and fills up with air and launches u You to the surface.
1:55:20 erm, i dont how much game settings affect that (i.e. in creative mode which is just for building nice bases, it would be bad if ur limited by finite resources) --- according to old game dev FAQs *_nothing but the small fishies u eat respawn_* (also no plants, but they regrow/"heal" back up if u cut them only a few times at once), but by personal experience, and even other people reporting it, there might be the case that those outcrops u have to break open DO sometimes respawn, but only if the game cache gets cleared/overridden, i.e. after a long time, while u are in a totally different "cell" of the game world, then the game is too occupied with ur current active cells, so it forgets about the old ones, and when u enter them again they get freshly loaded and thats why u may see those outcrops again.
1:44:07 Things don't stack to create an artificial problem to which the game will provide a solution. Food / water exists for the same reason -- eventually, you'll figure out a way to trivialize these mechanics. This is a common motif in game design, but Subnautica takes it up to 12. Mind you, it does a _very_ good job at it -- you find solutions to artificial problems at around the same time it changes from "annoying" to "unfun" -- but it is really obvious in retrospect.
41:30 u can scan it, u can in fact scan almost everything that u see --- and if u are able to, u see a little scanner icon in the bottom right corner of the screen, watch out for it! :)
2:01:40 ...their voice log mentioned "if the cranked up seaglide doesnt explode", and u found a fried seagilde next to the pod --- so as u also said urself, it most likely exploded inside the pod ... but why is it lying outside then, i do not know --- the deformation of the pod does look like penentrated from the inside towards the outside, and not that something broke in,...so likely an explosion

I like how you scan, read everything and you share your thoughts... thx (also the afterthoughts at the end)
As I'm not native to English I appreciate how well spoken you are.
Those extra thoughts about context and your choice of words makes you come across as knowledgeable to me.
Audio/video quality and the edits was top notch.
A feminine laugh, sweet smile and a pleasant voice also makes your video enjoyable :)
Looking forward to next vid!
Liera + Subnautica = Best Christmas ever ❤ And to answer your question, the world is not generated , same for every player 😊
Horizon Zero Dawn and Subnautica? I'm here for it. Great start to a new year
I just started playing this recently and I'm enjoying your playthrough. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that freaks at the noises and such. :)
Your inquisitive nature is one of the many qualities that make your playthroughs so enjoyable. If you were one of those people who will just rush through games then I wouldn't have completed your Mass Effect series (:
Inquisitive nature and Mass Effect series?
"Aw shieet, here we go again"
CaseOh is a prime example..
I really enjoyed watching your play through and hope that you will continue this game. Your thoughtful, relaxed and curious play style approach is what caused me to subscribe to your channel. All the best in the New Year!
Woohoo! Great to see you're back in Subnautica. And good idea to play by yourself.
Glad you picked it up again. It is scary and it is supposed to be, but it is an amazing game and you will love it. Keep following the instructions the game gives you, you will have more fun. And scan as much as possible, there are a lot of blueprints you can gather, you will need them later. Liked and subscribed! GL.
Hi Liera,
First time coming across your channel.
For me the greatest thing about this game was not reaching the end, but the journey itself :-)
Now on to your questions.
I have it running in the background, like with a buddy playing the game, sitting next to me, and I enjoy that very much 😄
Stay curious - keep exploring! 👍
/Mike
I would edit out the nature of the play area as to not spoil!!

I'm so happy normally new players tend to grab a million mushrooms. You seem more sensible and I look forward to seeing you play more
It's the telltale move of all first time Subnautica players, swimming one handed with the fire extinguisher in the other hand, your pockets bursting with acid mushrooms.
Resources, including fish, are finite and don't respawn. You can deplete the area of fish if you catch enough.
you appeared on my youtube front page at the EXACT right time - I just had a bunch of other people wrap their Subnautica lets plays.
I'll leave you with two non-spoiler observations that will be helpful for new players of Subnautica:
1) just like in real life, you can swim faster if you're not holding anything in your hands (others have pointed this out in earlier posts)
2) the fish swim slower at night, so if you're chasing them down for your food & water, try to do that at night.
Oh, interesting idea! I'll have to give it a go
14:25 Since it's a direct question I figure a direct answer is acceptable/wanted : the world is "new" in the sense that it's not impacted by your previous playhroughs, but otherwise the world is mostly fully handmade (with saltwater and love), although the exact resources spawns are mostly randomized within their biomes.
Some general things:
- The map is handcrafted, which in almost all cases makes for a better experience in a game IMHO.
- The game will let you explore everywhere, you just have to live with the consequences 😊
- Saving frequently is a good idea. While I think there is an autosave, it's doing it very sporadic, so manual saving is always better.
Other than that my advice is to have fun and explore everything. And don't worry, I think most people freaked out a few times during their first playthrough at least.
Real gamers hoard shrooms AND read all the lore!
LOL, "I need... two mushroom. Grab." Meanwhile, me playing this: "Grab-grab-grab-grab-grab-grab-grab-grab-grab-grab-grab-grab-grab-grab"
🤣 my first time was like that too
Love that you actually take the time to read the PDA! I just discovered you through this video and will definitely be sticking around. 🖤
Hope you enjoy it!
u had an INCREDIBLY lucky starting situation ---- never have i seen one to get metal salvage directly under ther pod, making the first steps super nice, also TWO infected specimen together in the first hour is also some deep lore exposition i saw players only get way later -- and the amount of bladder fish directly at ur pod, u dont need to go on a hunt for tem :O ... all in all, an incredible comfortable RNG
there may be a small difference in the area the pod lands but its within the same area. map is constructed not generated
Yes, having a chat and all that comes with streaming makes for a less interesting play through of the game. At least for me as a viewer. Good luck, I am looking forward to this! :)
This is a nice, relaxing game. Maybe not for people with thalassophobia, but I think there were enough advance warnings for them to know ;)
I've never actually properly finished this game. I always get distracted with building elaborate, ridiculous bases. A couple of times I switched to creative mode and built so many big sections the game broke. The bottom of the floor dropped noticeably, and was farther down every time I reloaded. Fun times!
I love this game! Glad you're playing it Liera 😊Edit: I forgot to say Happy New Year! 🎇🎉🍾🥂😊
Happy New Year!
6 Sievert/Hour counts as a Lethal Dosis
Until next LP 👍
Oh I love you already! You are the only other person I've seen to date who noticed Alterra stuffed too many people on ship. You are going to be such fun to watch
Don't know if you noticed but a scanner icon pops up in the bottom right corner of the screen to let you know if something is scannable near by.
it shows when the thing you are looking at hasn't been scanned yet, not just when its nearby.
@@dudemanjo404 yes, hence my saying " if something is scannable" since you can't rescan something that has already been scanned.
Ha! I am in the Midwest! What an interesting tell, I've never heard of it.
Enjoyed this, still awaiting more HZD tthough, will play this as you made it seem fun.
Damn! Well, today I learned. I know virtually nothing about underwater exploration, so I appreciate this comment a lot.
Nobody ever makes the air bladder...
This is great!
If you get too afraid just remember, pixels on your screen can't hurt you (well maybe except the blue ones 😵)
The Storm Light book series is so good. I think you will enjoy it.
Nice to see you're back with Subnautica 😅 Great game.
I have soooo many hours in this in creative mode just building and building. Love it!
Love your play style. reading is knowledge 👆😁
just one advice...when ascending, do not just "ascend"...activly swim upwards.
LG
Awesome! Subnautica is the best . . . and yeah, you can't play it while chatting with twitch followers at the same time!
The map is set, but your life pods spawn point in random across about a dozen spots in the safe shallows. and the exact placement of basic recourses like scrap metal is randomish... you will always find certain nodes in certain areas.
Good to know!
Really happy that you actually read to PDA and listen to the AI companion. also about the messages it is said that you were knocked out for 3 hours. most of the life pod messages happened during those three hours but since your life pod was broken it could not pick them up and they are all in repeater mode so they trickle in as their repeat timers cycle (at least that is the lore explanation). all other messages are more real time (again lore wise)
there is only perma death in the hardcore option. but you chose survival so when you die you just respawn in the pod or a base you made while maybe losing items. also I think one of the F# keys is quick save you can check the options/keybinds to be sure.
14:30 - No, it's the same map everytime, but you do land in a semi-random location in the relatively safe shallows area.
here are some tips for you that the game doesnt tell you:
1. you swim faster with free hands.
2. you are able to dive to any depth, if you have the oxygen supply. some of your equipment isn't.
3. scan everything.
4. read the databyse entries thuroughly. there are many hints in there that help you.
5. swim down with the seaglide, that way you safe oxygen for more exploring deeper areas.
6. you can holster your tools, by pressing the same number key again.
7. use your flashlight only when you need it. it drains it's battery fast.
8. you can safe power of your seaglide by shutting down its map-system and the light in its front. cycle through with right mouse button.
9. make sure to use a rebreather in dephs of 100+ meters. otherwhise your oxygen consumption goes up by a lot.
10. stalker teeth are found, not collected by killing them.
11. with the scanner you can also scan yourself!
12. the gameworld is fixed. it will always be the same, with every playthrough.
13. the game is meant to be played with very little violence involved.
14. you can grab seeds from plants with your knife. you just need a dedicated space to grow them.
15. some seeds are eadible.
16. the radiation suit gives you partial protection, when not wearing the helmet. if it is worn with the helmet, it protects completely.
No spoilers/backseating but know that every question you've asked in this video _is_ answered along the way, if you look for the clues (including fish playing with metal).
40:35 well the icon in the bottom-right said you *_could_* ... but then again, not unless you have the scanner equipped. ^^
... 1:20:42 okay, third time's the charm. 👌
PS 1:58:09 that's Sieverts/hour. The unit of measurement for ionizing radiation. ;-)
This is one of the only games i scan everything and read everything, such an incredible experience.
New sub here - something about your speaking cadence and vocab makes me think we'd be friends. I love this game and am excited to see it through your playthrough. 🐟🐠🐡
Another subnautica playthrough… AND YOU READ THE PDA!!!! Subscribing just for that, thank you.
Hello
J'aime beaucoup ce jeu.
L'ambiance est incroyable😮😊😊😊
Merci
please check your radio, that pulsing sound while in your pod is the radio
this game is amazing, good choice! Happy 2025
You swim faster disarmed and on the surface. Knowing where your disarm key is going to be helpful when you need those extra seconds to get air.
The world is not randomly generated.
Nice! Streaming is probably better for action games anyway.
The world is permanent, hand-crafted.
No, it's the same map at every new launch ;) Waiting for more of your playthrought ! :)
The world is always the same. There is no random map generation.
That's both a relief and a bummer.
Looks like a underrated youtuber playing Subnautica:O
ooh sharks
Very happy to see you have the pda pause feature on.
subbed !! i love subnautica kinda wonder where you ended last time ?
Being afraid of deep water is the most rational thing ever IMO 🙃 There are monsters that eat you, forces that crush you, and you can't breathe🤣
I love that yt tossed up this video and your channel - new sub 😊
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Liera.
the game map is not procedurally generated. They did play around with doing that during Alpha, but decided it would not work with what they were trying to do.
Starting position and location of some resources and such are random, but the layout of the world is always the same, I think.
Gotcha. Thank you!
Something to ponder…
99999 hours is roughly 11.4 years 😉
Subnautica. Classification: Ptsd, trauma. Rating: AAA+
The game is great. There's no 'right' way to play. Build up your supplies and build a base before going deeper. The music changes in certain areas. Keep track of your Air, Food, and Water intake. Explore and have fun.
Those Peeper fish (with the big yellow eyes) are much easier to catch at night, when they're asleep. :)
1:20:40 Yes, all the sharks (and other things) will hunt, and they'll k1ll, but they'll never actually eat. The game doesn't despawn the fish/target. Easy way to catch a fast-moving peeper. :)
The map is the same everytime. The resources are finite but plentiful if you know where to look.
A couple things that you read around 1:25:00, Titanium both sharpens and BREAKS Stalker Teeth (out of their mouth)... So if you swim right at a stalker with Titanium Scrap in your hand... >^.^< You could kill a stalker, but the game won't offer teeth that way.
Well are you in for treat, hehe 😂
46:10 "yeah... but u will" 🤭
YESSSSSSSSSS OMG I'm sooooooo ready for subnautica ❤
To be able to swim faster to the surface make the fins asap, also just look up to surface and use sprint u will get there faster. If the game still has it make the air ballon thing and you can just activate it if you have it in your hot bar and it will push/pull you to the surface insanely fast. Its a life saver. Cant remember what it was called but basically its like a tiny life raft and fills up with air and launches u
You to the surface.
Literally, what a fab choice
Finally!!! Have fun!!
Nice video! Big BaDaBOOOOOM!
