The prana requirement was taken care of through the Matou Crest Worms. The high prana toll usually causes Berserkers to suck their Masters dry. The Crest Worms give a ton of prana, at the cost of...yeah. As for the mental obedience. The guy let those things eat him and go up against a war with absolutely nobody really backing him up emotionally or mentally. I think he's just badass enough to reign in Berserker.

Archer makes a lot more sense from a thematic point too. Archer doesn't actually treat any of his swords as precious, infinity+1, super blades, he treats them as disposable tools for the situation, like arrows. He's also one of the weaker (stat-wise) Servants in the war, and has to rely more on skill and tactics to win, rather than brute-force, slam into the enemy, head-first stupidity that a Saber-type is known for, and is jaded and snarky, like stereotypical archers.
Right, there's also his trick to use them as Broken Phantasms. A horribly double-edged technique for any other Servant, completely viable tactic for him. Fate/Hollow shows how broken Archer is when he's actually being an archer. Even then, the only reason why Saber and Shirou had a snowballs chance in winning was because Archer was going solo. Interesting thought.... In Tera would Archer be an archer or a warrior? This game portrays him evenly as both since he can easily switch between a bow and 2 swords.
Speaking of GARiya, did it ever explain in the novel version how he was able to fully control a Beserker like Lancelot? Because as far is i was told, Beserkers are hard to control and usually kill their masters right? So was it explained how Kariya maintained Beserker? Or am i to assume that GAR simply bypasses everything :)

The only reason why Shirou won vs Archer is because Archer let Shirou win because he acknowledged him. They fought one on one the only difference is that Shirou had Avalon. You cannot expect less from a fight between 2 Shirous XD. And the Broken Phantasm is just that, Archer overcharges the weapons and they exceed the power of the originals but they are destroyed in the process. Though good thing he did not have to face Lancelot because he doesn't really stand a chance vs him.
Yeah. Lancelot however, he's just overpowered. Mad Enhancement WITHOUT losing sword skills, combined with the ability to use ANY weapon as a Noble Phantasm (would love to see the result of Lancelot using that ability on an ICBM). Both Archers are pretty much up the creek against Lancelot. Even Saber won only cuz Lancelot let her. Best thing to do when against Lancelot is to aim for GARiya or force him to use Arondight and then run away.
