Our company also did something similar for Australia 108, which was the metal deck and studs for those yellow bits sticking out of the building. Once again, I was fortunate to do this while on the ground while other less fortunate blokes had to complete it over 70 floors up.

I am 25 and i remember just 10 years ago Melbourne looked nothing like it is now. There were less sky scrapers and now they are springing up everywhere. I live in Cheltenham and drive into the city everyday and its crazy to see skyscrapers popping up all over the place.
I'm not an engineer, but even though the buildings are rigidly linked together, won't there be some inevitable differential movement in high winds, which could damage the bridge? Say 200 kph winds?
The buildings would move a lot more if they weren't a single piece. They now have similar resistance to winds as a much wider building but without the added surface area. Yes, high winds will put a lot of torque at the joint between the tower core and the skybridge, but that can be factored into the design.
Unlikely it would be 200 kph, but I know Melbourne gets very windy. Up to 120 or 140 kph is not uncommon higher up. I know that In NY ( Manhattan) they get up to 160 km winds. The old WTC had that factored into it's design although I know it had massive floor plates ( one acre)
Ok, and? People move all the time, what makes you think you're special for doing so? Or that you need to announce it publicly? Just a reason to whinge about politics or something like that, maybe? Also, 60,000 is around 1% of the entire population of Vic, give or take. Hardly even a dent on the overall population of the state. Good luck to you in wherever you moved to though, I guess
Fantastic. Now if someone would just concentrate on removing all the graffiti and filth from around the streets... the rubbish and the pigeon poo... and if the trains would actually run when scheduled and weren't cancelled or late..... maybe lots of people will brave the cold, draughty, grey and dismal inner city streets to go have a look at it.
No longer the fastest growing city in Australia. Whilst it was adding 100k people per year 9 years in a row, Melbourne has just had two negative net migration losses due to covid lockdowns in 2020 and 2021.
Awesome video, as usual! I saw this building in person the other day and it certainly is striking. Love it or not, it's good to see better quality architecture and design being deployed in Melbourne, a city which has typically seen proliferation of lots of very tall, square towers.
The Southern Hemisphere's tallest buildings are located in Melbourne. We've lead the southern half of the world since the 1850s and continue today. Very proud of my home city!
Actually Melbourne is not the fastest growing city … people have been fleeing in droves and has experienced the highest decline in population in the last two years:
@@calebsankey6945 Yes Dan, but the record stands, longest lock down on the planet in history, for a problem THEY CAUSED, poorly run quarantine hotels anybody....
I am from Melbourne. All these new shiny towers are just trinkets, destroying what was once a beautiful city with hundreds of beautiful buildings from the 1800s and 1900s. Melbourne is turning into the new Dubai. Developers competing to build the tallest, shiniest, most gold-plated piece of junk possible. Meanwhile at street level pedestrians walk in the dark and get blasted by the wind. At least New York has set-back rules, so towers generally taper as they go up (well, that's the idea at least, a lot of the new stuff doesn't follow those ideals).
I'm soo conflicted watching these. On one hand, I marvel at the level of engineering we've achieved, but on the other, I am deeply concerned about the level of ostentatious display of wealth disparity in out society. It's truly unfortunate that the money being used to develop these engineering feats, is going to ultimately benefit so few people overall.
I've been waiting all week for a video. So happy that the route to my work will be that much more beautiful! btw this building first started construction in 2018!
This channel has the most Melbourne content of any channels. It’s refreshing to see some local contributions to a global conversation. You should look at the proposed Melbourne Suburban Rail loop. At an estimated $50 to $100 billion dollars, covering 90kms of tracks linking up to 15 new stations this is an epic multigenerational project.
I worry that it's just a modern version of the Outer Circle Raiilway that Melbourne built in the 1890s. There just wasn't the cross suburban traffic to justify frequent services, so trains became less frequent until it was all closed down except for the short Alamein line. So I sort of hope they don't build it as I suspect it will be another expensive white elephant. Perhaps the money could be spent building new suburban lines to Rowville and Doncaster or the proposed cross city line from Clifton Hill to Newport?
I've been waiting for today for a whole week. Nice video - great to see the detail behind a complex construction element! I'm hoping the building looks as nice completed as the renders!

easier to escape when there's a fire drill or real fire.
The ground in Australia is a bit scary.
LOLS TRUE! 😊😄😄👍👍

sorry but because of Dan Andrews ..... I like 60000 other people have left the state for good
I live just down the street from this and see it everyday when I walk to and from uni... breathtaking seeing it being built in person! Love the video
Exactly what the world needs, more high rise luxury apartments, fancy hotels, sky bridges. It gives the homeless something to look at!

This is the view I have from work, thanks for all the tech details.
The B1m is the my favourite you tube channel
No longer the fastest growing city in Australia. Whilst it was adding 100k people per year 9 years in a row, Melbourne has just had two negative net migration losses due to covid lockdowns in 2020 and 2021.
The Andrews factor. Hopefully he’ll be kicked out like Morrison
@@DavidSweetnam NOT LIKELY in fact it's almost IMPOSSIBLE
the lockdowns are over now
This looks amazing. I visited Melbourne in 2019 and noticed a lot of construction.

Awesome video, as usual! I saw this building in person the other day and it certainly is striking. Love it or not, it's good to see better quality architecture and design being deployed in Melbourne, a city which has typically seen proliferation of lots of very tall, square towers.
Hate to lower the tone, but does anyone else see underwear sliding down a pair of legs?
I personally did not see that until now 😂😂
watching this video and looking up out of my window to the construction of this building is quite the experience
Considering Melbourne didn't get it's first skyscraper until 1972 they haven't wasted any time building them.
The Southern Hemisphere's tallest buildings are located in Melbourne.
We've lead the southern half of the world since the 1850s and continue today.
Very proud of my home city!
Actually Melbourne is not the fastest growing city … people have been fleeing in droves and has experienced the highest decline in population in the last two years:
that was just because of lockdown which is finished now
Stare at this being built out of my window at uni
I see this every day when I walk to University and it looks very impressive - even under construction.
Capitalists buying 39 million penthouses while milking the working class for every cent.
Ironically, it will likely be someone who made money in a communist country who buys it like with Australia 108
true
My favourite channel posting about my city is one of the best things 😍
Only one problem, it’s in Melbourne!!.
I love the sound of the bridge between those twin skyscrapers! I want to walk the Sky Bridge!
But the public transport system is still 50 years behind, having tall buildings doesn’t mean anything it’s what you got in the city
Thanks for the video.
The Australia 108 has a sad little entrance shocking to see and would expect much more for the tallest building in Australia
Hope they improve on that in this one
LOL Melbourne, total police state, lockdown capital of the world....
yawn
You do realise that lockdowns have been over for months, right?
Melbourne's an absolute shit hole. More communist than china at this point.
@@calebsankey6945 Yes Dan, but the record stands, longest lock down on the planet in history, for a problem THEY CAUSED, poorly run quarantine hotels anybody....
@@robert-brydson-1 Most liveable city, voted by whom, melbournians lol
storytelling is truly remarkable
I am from Melbourne. All these new shiny towers are just trinkets, destroying what was once a beautiful city with hundreds of beautiful buildings from the 1800s and 1900s. Melbourne is turning into the new Dubai. Developers competing to build the tallest, shiniest, most gold-plated piece of junk possible. Meanwhile at street level pedestrians walk in the dark and get blasted by the wind. At least New York has set-back rules, so towers generally taper as they go up (well, that's the idea at least, a lot of the new stuff doesn't follow those ideals).
just by the thumbnail I knew this was gonna be in Australia. Y'all are really building some funky looking shit
Sky bridges are nothing unique... here's another one.
wow melbourne looks so unique..
Absolutely incredible.

Heading down to Melbourne this week for the F1, will check this project out (Looking up) 👍
This channel has the most Melbourne content of any channels.
