WOW, WOW, WOW. Thank you so much for the introduction and tutorial to this software. I can't wait to download it and use it. I am an artist and happy clicker photographer. I have some stunning photos that I have taken of wildlife etc which I want to paint. Using Fotosketcher I can create the composition in a paint format or drawing and use that when I paint. 👌 I am also amused and identify with your frustration with unannounced or explained software updates.
Totally with you there. There is no room for traditional thinking in my life. Tradfink is backward looking and stultifying, it rejects the new and possibly better. This is true for all aspects or our existence.
I've been using this for years. I use the portable version. There have been many cases where I've found this to be superior to some of the commercial art generation programs I own.
I JUST found this software before I found your tutorial. I love fotosketcher! One quick question... do you know how to find the settings for a picture you already created? I was playing with the settings and applied it to a picture, but I continued playing and 'lost' the settings I liked! Now I can't quite recreate the effect! :-D I saved the 'painting' luckily, but I want to redo it on another photo and can't remember the exact settings. lols! This is a really GREAT painting software!!
@@stephen-photoartist7288 HEY! I contacted the developer and he gave me a GREAT trick! In the app, hit the 'end' key. This will 'enable long file names' and the name of the picture will include the style and settings!! SO, if you make a picture in a style you like, just hit the end key before saving and the file name will have all the settings listed! 😀
I'm a mac user. I messaged the develper and he gave me instructions to download the Whiskey app and after downloading photosketcher it worked perfectly on my macair laptop. I do think you need the newer processors (M1, M2 or above...but not 100% sure).
Mr. Stephen, this is an AWESOME software. Thank you very much for share it with us. I´m a new follower since today. Greetings from Valencia, Venezueka.
I wonder if anybody has developed "recipes" using the various settings so as to emulate well known artists styles, colours, brush strokes. I'm thinking of artists like Monet, VanGogh, Pizarro, Rembrandt and so on?
Thanks for sharing this information. Was really looking forward to trying out, but I got a warning from Microsoft Defender when I tried to run the downloaded exe file. Has anyone else had this problem?
Yes, but you can just ignore it. The author says in one of his tutorials that he hasn't gone through the formal process yet with Microsoft to certify his software.
I went to the full website link and clicked download in the top right corner, just as he demonstrated. It offered full or portable version. I downloaded full and had no app purchases or other ads, it was free and fast. It works great, too.
In Photoshop go to the Image dropdown menu and choose Image Size. It's recommended that you change the resolution to 100. I'll demo this in the upcoming "February Sit Back & Chill" video coming out next month.
@@stephen-photoartist7288 Ah, yes. Thank you. Unfortunately, that resolution not a dimensionless value. The dialog offers either pixels/inch or pixels/cm. Granted, most folks won't change it from the default (ppi), but I would have understood it without doubts if the recommendation had been "100 ppi" for the dimension.
So long as we don't misdescribed what we have created all is good. We make our own choices and do as we want, can do, and can afford. Artist materials are costly and don't suit everyone's lifestyle and situation either. We can all do as we want for our recreation, no rules.
You turn photos into paintings by spending years and years and years learning how to draw, how to compose, how to paint in several mediums, learning materials, learning brush strokes, studying artists working with artists, practice, practice and practice. WHY??? For enjoyment of the learning the disciplines. To learn all the above put together like musical instruments and someones creativity to write the notes that make the symphony. NOT MECHANICAL FILTERS. Otherwise I'd learn how to click a shutter button on a camera.
As a user of PhotoSketcher for many years, your demonstration of this wonderful programme has to be the very best ever. Superbly done.
I, too, have searching for a software that will do this! Thank you ever so much!
Wow, been looking for something like this for a long time. Excellent tutorial also.

Excellent tutorial, thankyou very much for this great information.
I hadn't seen this before. Looks good. Thanks.

Great idea to send the developer. No, I see no way of saving the settings.

can you please share a link for the Whiskey App? Thank you
I am a fine artist. I will look at it.

Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you
Thank You So Much🎉❤

Thanks for the info.
Thank you. My first time here. Subscribing. 😊
Me too.
Thanks, very fun pgm.
thanks for sharing this .. I like some of teh effects
Had it for years. Can be helpful.
Awesome!
wow! wonderful s/w. The Mac version is not there
Hi, is there software that does the same thing with video? 🙏
I'm sure there must be in the professional movie industry but just imagine the amount of processing power that would be needed.
Thank you very much ❤

Microsoft are using Defender to restrict your choices, they have motives, probably driven by profit.
Thanks sir ❤❤
Can not find this program, with out in app purchases.

I am struggling with the photo I chose. I am assuming its because of the resolution. How do I change this without using photoshop?
Seems to be a common trait of these type of softwares. May have to use a quality upscaler on the internet
I generally enjoy watching your videos, but what the heck is "a hundred resolution"? (100 pixels wide, or 100 pixels per inch, or ...?)
In Photoshop go to the Image dropdown menu and choose Image Size. It's recommended that you change the resolution to 100. I'll demo this in the upcoming "February Sit Back & Chill" video coming out next month.
I understood him to mean 100ppi.

I cannot seem to DL this app; it wants to install some other nonsense. How do I get to the Fotosketcher program without the overhead?
I have been using this and some paid software with far more plentiful options for almost a decade.
I wish it worked with Mac.
the end result created by automation is not a painting, but a rough imitation

We all have our own angles, what suits one may not suit another. Personal choice prevails.
Photography itself is a fine art form, not just pressing a button.
I got a thing that does that too - a paint brush.
Here’s an idea: Learn how to actually paint and you won’t need to rely on software.
I don't have the time or money but for hobby and entertainment I like to enjoy doing this sort of thing with my photos. Each to his or her own.
Try picking up a paintbrush 😂
almost going to click away when it said Windows only 😢
Since it's a stand alone, I have an old laptop that might work.
