I’m at 825 rwhp on my 17 with a ported lt4 blower, cam, upgraded fuel system, LT’s, pullies, TB, e60 so probably a good candidate for one of these lids so looking forward to ur next test.
I have the DSX lid on my 2016 Z06. I have not dynoed but I didn't feel a seat of your pants performance gain. I still don't have the whine I would like, but it improved a little. My LSA engine had screaming supercharger whine. haha! Thanks for the video!
I bought an mpi lid for my zl1 strictly for cosmetic reasons for car shows. Noticed a bit more wine but no significant gains as expected. I currently have Roto-Fab non big gulp, 95 mm throttle body, and flex fuel and tune. Topped out at about 622rwhp. Great content! Looking forward to seeing what BAD Pumpkin does next!!!😎👊
I built a 1 inch riser for my supercharger to get the lid higher, next Steve Morris makes a cathedral port style for the intake man does it help air flow and low iats, makes some good power to he sells bolt on big block supercharger kits
Thank you for doing the test, you spent hard earned money that you didn't haft to spend. My 2018 ZL1 has a roto fab grey filter and borla Atak cat back, that's it, the car is about 18 months from pay off, once that happens it will definitely get a lid change in a magnuson 2650R, katech billet pump and a stage 3 cam in my 6 speed manual. working on getting my twin turbo chevelle on the road. 72 T56 magnum, LQ4 6.0 Stock rings low boost 12 psi or less, 2 borg warner S256SX 93 octane with M1 methanol, LS9 head gasket, ARP head bolts. So I have plenty work for now.
Great job testing with as much consistency as possible! Look forward to the test results on the heads/cam ported blower set-up, I agree and think thats where the results will standout👌
I have the DSX lid on my 2016 CTS-V. With the stealth package powder coat option for a more discreet look. I have not tried any other lids but couldn't be happier with the results going from stock to the DSX one. Whine alone was worth the money!
Great video and information. I know that was a lot of work and the data and knowledge is definitely worth it. I hope you keep making videos like this for the people. Keep up the great work 👍 💪
Drops SOON...just finished my ZL1. Film LID TEST 2.0 next week and edit/drop soon after!!! It is coming. I am one man and run one of the busiest shops in the country.
This is real deal content for lt4 owners. Thanks! Keep up the good work. What do you think is better jokerz or kong? Looking at ported blower 103tb and big gulp for my next round of mods. Any input would be awesome.
We use both. Comes down to client goals. In my experience having tested both, Jokerz has more low end hit over kong on the lt4 stuff….i actually have a video on here where I test the Kong x port on a head cam zl1 and discuss the differences in powerband from x port to race port
Love your content and looking forward to part 2 with these lids. I completely agree with your opinion about seeing much better results with more mods.👍🔥
One of, if not the BEST video ever on a subject. Amazing that you performed this test. I have been looking at a lid wondering if the results match their claims. Great video, thanks.
Been patiently and eagerly waiting for this one! The content Lt4 owners have been waiting for, thanks for the work Florida High Performance! Looking forward to this comparison on a ported blower 🙌
Just bought the LMP lid mainly because it's the biggest and best looking one imo. Gonna powder coat it gold and slap that baby on 😎. I only have 2" headers and catless X-pipe, cai and an E50 tune currently making 700whp. Hopefully after I port the blower and do pulleys, cam and full E85 i can make well over 800whp 🤞
We are currently modding Bad Punkn as we speak. Head/Cam/Race port on 93/MS109. We will finish tuning the car, and then will replicate this test again on that car and see if we get any changes!
I really love your videos man…..you’re very thorough I want to bring my 19 ZL1 to you….im in NC I would like to discuss some things I want to do with my car
Since my 16 cts v came with the smaller gen 1 lid. I upgraded to a DSX lid, but also added LT, Intake and flex tune. DSX and stock gen 2 lids cost about the same, so that too influenced my purchase. I will say, I couldn’t justify the $1,000 lids…
This was needed and well done. I had a prototype Gen 5 whipple with a flat vs normal top that they sell to the public. I was convinced it gave me .75-1 more psi of boost but I never got it on a dyno. Coming from C8 and want to get a ZL1. Is there any year you suggest staying away from? Good job. I enjoy your channel.
I showed up late. I LIKED the comparison and professional content. Looking now for the Bad Pumpkin you tube video. New subscriber for my 2018 ZL11LE...great stuff!!!
It would interesting to see this test again with a max effort on stock architecture type setup. See if there are any gains with the most maximized realistic test motor.
No discernible difference on the dyno as it’s very loud in the shop when doing pulls. A more accurate test would be out on the road…which I’ll do with bad punkn ZL1
I just put the dsx lid on my 18 ctsv. It has way more whine. I like that it fits under the strut brace. I would recommend for any v owners. Edit. I had a rotofab and a catch can on it for 20k miles. I took off the factory silencer plate from the lid when i did it. I could barely hear it. Now it's nice. Not too obnoxious like my friends trx.
Thank you for yoir honesty I appreciated. One question do you think with a soler throttle body and say dsx or mpi lid would have more improvement. Everything else stock except for burger filter thank you I'd appreciated when you can to respond thank you sir
As you have seen, there isn't one single lid that does the trick. Rather, I think they help along with other mods like larger HX, HX expansion tanks, etc...
I had DSX lid 60mm upper 9.4 lower with a Kong Export porting on a stage 1 build, 416 stroker, Cam Rotofab big gulp and the rest and I’m telling you with that loud exhaust I still heard a good whine. Later I added methanol e85 Maggie 2650, 80mm upper same lower and I don’t hear a damn thing, but the power and efficiency that 2650 gives is second to none. Bottom line that stock 1.7 blower whether it’s ported or not will fall flat on its face after one good pull, don’t waste your money like I did buying lids and porting that little 1.7 and get a 2650, both Kong Performance and Jokers portem and if you wanna waste your money they make lids for those too.
For the money you would spend on those lids with labor couldn’t you get the same maybe more for that amount by modifying the stock lid by having it polished inside ? I don’t know for sure how far you could take the polishing with the stock blower system ? I would even be curious if the idea was pushed to polishing and porting the factory heads and reinstalling ?
Video is great not criticing one bit. But 100$ per hp or ftlb is steep!! Some were 200$ per ftlb whew. I think a good set of roller rocker arms would make a whole lot more bang for the buck
So no wideband on the car don’t know that the lmp goes very lean and needs to be adjusted in the tune same on the mpi. Also the stock tune limits the hp to exactly 9-9.5 psi it has a boost bypass that opens when boost increases. I can promise you the lmp and mpi both make way more power on a fbo max effort car. A totally stock car on my tune makes 12 psi so also his claim of not enough airflow is crap. This is why you do not use these people to tune your car period he doesn’t even know anything about them. I just had a 4000 lbs bolt on car run 9.15@151 mph it will be the fastest when we get a little weight out of it and get better then 600 da. Don’t bother waiting on his crap I can’t tell you just doing a proper setup the two lids do make more hp. That 9.15 car makes 830whp bolt on using e70 and the lmp lid.
I did have a wideband on the car- no major change in AFR on this set up between the lids- other combos may yield different results. The fact that you felt compelled enough to watch the video and then cope with your own insecurities as a man by posting negative things about my knowledge on this subject tells me I’m doing something right! -Erik
Erik welcomed all questions and comments. And this hater was too lazy to even ask if he had a wideband on the car. Yeah, he thinks his stuff is better no way in hell. Talk is cheap. He's just trying to feed his overrated ego....
I think you just saved a bunch of LT4 owners about a grand on some pie in the sky claims! Thank you for a great video!
I love real results, not claims and assumptions by fan boys and companies.
Great video and information! Im currently working on building my 22 ZL1 and i can say this video was very helpful!
Thank you for the feedback, glad you found value in it. We are set to release the second test where I add these to my heads/cam ZL1 Bad Punkn!
I had the DSX lid, sold it and upgraded to the LMP lid. As far as sound in the car. DSX has a better whine sound, even at low speeds. IMO
I’m at 825 rwhp on my 17 with a ported lt4 blower, cam, upgraded fuel system, LT’s, pullies, TB, e60 so probably a good candidate for one of these lids so looking forward to ur next test.

I own a 2019 zl1 and did some modifications ... I completely agree with your opinion b4 you said it
Thanks for showing people real hp gains
You're welcome. Lid test 2.0 coming soon...
Wow I've been trying to do this test for like a year, haven't had the time, thank you for your time, these tests take quite a bit of time to do.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video and information. I know that was a lot of work and the data and knowledge is definitely worth it. I hope you keep making videos like this for the people. Keep up the great work 👍 💪
Thank you - a lot more coming...takes a lot of time and money to produce these. Lid test 2.0 coming soon on my personal ZL1!
This is youtube! Dude best video on automotive youtube in a while. Keep this up and you're channel will blow up. Thank you
Wow, thanks!
I think it’s worth mentioning the DSX lid power gain listed on the site is compared against the 15-16 lid and NOT against the tall 17+ lid.
Great info thank you for adding this point
Awesome testing. Very informative.......but where's part 2? VERY curious to see if the lids made a difference on a modded blower.
🤔🤔🤔

Nice video, can you make a pull on the ported blower before the heads cam swap to see if there’s much difference
I actually do that in episode 2 of my ZL1 (bad punkn) series which you can go watch on this channel
Love your content and looking forward to part 2 with these lids. I completely agree with your opinion about seeing much better results with more mods.👍🔥
Thanks so much!
I can't afford one of these, but I sure like them. Thank you for sharing your research. Maybe someday I'll get one. Don't hold your boost though.
Hello - this was a good vid. Have you made any progress with vid 2 after the modifications to the car you mentioned in this video?
My ZL1 is done...EP 3 just dropped. I will conduct the lid test 2.0 in two weeks.
This is your best video so far imo…I really didn’t expect those results!!!
A lot more of this coming
One of, if not the BEST video ever on a subject. Amazing that you performed this test. I have been looking at a lid wondering if the results match their claims. Great video, thanks.
Thank you!
I own a 17 ctsv and was thinking of doing a lmp lid but Dsx will do
Whatever you choose will be better than the stock V Lid!
Been patiently and eagerly waiting for this one! The content Lt4 owners have been waiting for, thanks for the work Florida High Performance! Looking forward to this comparison on a ported blower 🙌
Elite content! Can’t wait for the next test! May have to switch my LMP lid to save 10lbs

I agree with everything you said. More changes would be noticed on a max effort type build. Might gain 15-25 on a car that makes 800+whp
Good test, I almost bought a lid for my stock V
Glad this helped...
Do you know when you're going to have the next video on the modified with the lids as im holding off purchasing until i see the results! Thanks.

Can you feel the difference in blind testing on the road with the DSX vs the others?
No
It would interesting to see this test again with a max effort on stock architecture type setup. See if there are any gains with the most maximized realistic test motor.
Agreed...will conduct this test on my max effort ZL1 soon...
Maybe I missed it, but did you say which lid you found increased blower whine the most?
No discernible difference on the dyno as it’s very loud in the shop when doing pulls. A more accurate test would be out on the road…which I’ll do with bad punkn ZL1
Just a quick question…. Why jokerz over Kong? Just want a better understanding between the two, thanks
Jokerz will make more low end boost and torque over the kong lt4 port - both will make more peak boost and hp…I run both depending on customer needs

Did that stock lid still have that sound dampener piece in it? Maybe a give away of the lids you don’t keep on the car after the next video?
Lid did not have the damper in it- client removed it prior to it coming to our shop….we might do a giveaway let’s see what happens!
I’m assuming very similar results on a 2017 c7 z06
Yes
I just purchased the dsx im doing it more for the louder whine
Enjoy!
Thank you for yoir honesty I appreciated. One question do you think with a soler throttle body and say dsx or mpi lid would have more improvement. Everything else stock except for burger filter thank you I'd appreciated when you can to respond thank you sir
Probably not
Thank you for response
Great video, I learned a lot on this and I’m looking forward to your next video!
Thank you
have you guys ever thought of porting the stock Lid?
Nothing much to remove material wise- it’s more of how the air moves up, across, and down the lid into the ports I’d say….
Amazing content, so much thought-provoking information.
Thank you so much
Here out of curiosity looking to find lid with better flow and lower intake air temps on a z06 wich seems to be an issue
As you have seen, there isn't one single lid that does the trick. Rather, I think they help along with other mods like larger HX, HX expansion tanks, etc...

MORE OF THESE! Get ahead in the LT world! More research for the LS1 / LSX aire to the throne
A lot coming...
Has he or any shop done such tests for a max effort LT4 2650 build?
Coming soon….all part of my build series on bad punkn zl1
I might have missed it but did the iats improve with an aftermarket lid?
Not really- 100-103* avg through the pull….next test would have to be driving out on the road
If you ever dynoed a rotofab vs the rotofab biggulp?
No but I can...
I would love to see the difference that you get. If it's worth upgrading or not.
Just goes to show you how feel the oem factory lid performs gm knows what they’re doing when they put out a product
Usually they do- not always. Remember- the original Lt4 lids on the V and the Z06 were trash
I agree I think tho on a FBO 15+ psi bolt on car the gains on the lids will be shown more than at the stock boost levels
Awsome video funny the cheaper lid did the best i love it lol!!
Lid test 2.0 coming soon....
Thanks for doing this. And we all knew it was going to be money wasted.
Great video, keep them videos coming. Can't wait to bring you my C7 Z06
Thanks! Will do!
Great job! Great content! DSX .....great product
It sure is!

I think people like the look of something that isn't stock...that is main reason you buy a lid...the gains are so subjective...to each their own.
which lid had the loudest whine?
MPI seems to make the most sound out on the road
Great video Eric! 👏👏
Thanks!
Erik, great video!!

Kind of an expensive mod for such little gain. It might help more on a stock car.

Facts
Video is great not criticing one bit. But 100$ per hp or ftlb is steep!! Some were 200$ per ftlb whew. I think a good set of roller rocker arms would make a whole lot more bang for the buck
Def not the best bang for buck....
So less than 1% horsepower gain absolutely not worth it
