Jared was the og of this movie. He knew since day one what she was, but he didn't betray her, he protected her when he joined the hunt, he felt so much pain seeing her so happy helping people cos he knew that even though she's the demon she was sweet and kind girl, after seeing her kiss someone he obviously lost his cool but still protected her from the hunter, he lied for her and when he become a demon as well he overcome his objective and died protecting her. He died more then a hero, he died as a true friend that never betrayed her
I feel bad for the guy who turned into a monster. He has always loved the girl from the very start even going as far as joining the hunters so that he can protect the girl.
This shows that he got to speak up. Remember she was a monster and what most men and women dowhen they see a monster? They scream, run, or kill. If he had said anything, that would have give him a chance to be with her. Plus, the other was showing her affection. The other guy didn't show it. He did it silently, but he is not her husband or boyfriend so she won't see him more than a friend, and as a monster she can only see him as a stranger cuz most people would do that. I pity him cuz he didn't say anything. He got as much chance as the other guy to be loved for her, but he didn't act on it.
The fact that the guy protected her from the beginning to the end makes me feel bad for him cause the girl didn't even care that much about his feeling

Seeing your friends and family turn into monsters but you still have hope to help them for good, just for them to be killed off, One. By. One. The movie writers really knew how to make a sad story, leaving the protagonist's main goal unfinished, family dead, and leaving his hope stuck behind unbreakable bars right when he thinks he can fulfill his life's goal and live an happy life forever.

First thing that crossed my mind when the girl is undergoing the start of her transformations is Manananggal, a female mythological creature that detach from its waist down and usually hunts unborn babies. There are a lot of incarnations of such mythological creature throughout Southeast Asia and it's just fascinating. The story btw is bittersweet, but still satisfying. It's refreshing to see a new take on romance-horror genre. Thanks for tackling this one.
at my place, it is called 'penanggal', a flying head with internal organ. i dont remember many things about this creature but i know that they're scared of something thorny and they will die if someone destroy their body

Very kind friends. I thought that a man will harm or kill the other man. Instead, they help each other to protect the woman they love. But at the end, the woman died.
Southeast Asia mythological creatures are the best and so nostalgic. This creature can be called "Kuyang" or "Penanggalan" it is from Indonesia and some in Thai/Malay, and there is also a similar creature to this in the Philippines called "Manananggal" the main difference between the two is that Penanggal is a flying head woman with it's guts hanging out and while the Manananggal is a flying Torso of a woman with large bat wings, and it's most likely that either of the two mythical creatures were influence by one another.
Hahaha Kuyang is like a cute way of calling your older brother here. Isn't it amazing how alot of Southeast Asian's have similar words but different meanings and also when it comes to mythological creatures ,up to this day news about them are still being shown on tv ,like a an "aswang" was terrorising a village by eating there livestocks.
In Indonesia it call "kuyang" as urban legend kuyang not a ghost but human with high black magic power to gain immortality, rich and other, kuyang looking for blood from pregnant woman or baby
It seems to be quite a theme with Eastern stories; no happy endings. I'd be all over them if that wasn't the case, but I have a feeling my depression would take that ball and run like Forrest Gump with it.
"... and purposely shows his chiseled body before putting the shirt back on..." Me: lol is that commentary really neccessary for the storylines?? Also me: YES IT DOES!
love me some American shows, but i must agree there is happiness and entertainment that most definitely can be found from non-western films. some of my FAV movies i've learned a lot about myself from watching Nordic,Belgium, French, and Korean films.
What a sad tragic story... Sometimes you stumble across film in which you cannot sympathise literally anyone, all are dumb and/or cruel and show the worst of them. But here the situation is the opposite. Feel bad for most of the characters ( and those being killed as well)
FINALLY, horror cinema gets around to the Penanggal. I'm amazed this hasn't come to light years ago...among global monster lore, the Penanggal is one of the most terrifying. Maybe a bit too terrifying for even Hollywood.
In Filipino we have a thing called, "Manananggal" it's like Penanggal but the body is cut off in half rather than head being detached. The root word comes from the word, "Tanggal" which means to remove in our language. Manananggal also have a wings after being cut in half.

This movie from Thailand and has original name 'Sang Krasue' (2019). It has 2 combination plots between the old Southeast Asia folklore of a nocturnal female spirit, usually young and beautiful, with her internal organs hanging down from the neck, trailing below the head and a love triangle story. In Thailand, this creature tales was found back over 230 years since the beginning of The Rattanakosin Kingdom (1782 - present) in the Three Seals Law that had mention one of the crime should be punished such as ' Be Krasue' or ' Be Krahang'. Explain some kind of the behavior that be like in this movie was a murder crime. But most of the texts were laws from the Ayutthaya era which had survived the destruction of Ayutthaya in 1767, so the word "Krasue' maybe old than before that show how old of this folklore. Don't be misunderstood, I didn't claim this to be original Thai. It still be a myth that how old of this folklore become Southeast Asia. So enjoy this movie. In the time had shown in Thailand, it's famous from a little plot twist about love triangle, especially Jerd's tragedy. But you know, the plot twist often use in Thai movies and advertisements. It's fun for emotional surge.
In Indonesia we call her Kuyang, usually 'found' in the region of Kalimantan island. The ghost lady is actually a human being under the influence of some kinda black magic. She roams around at night, barging into houses devouring blood of pregnant women or infant.
@@imhangeum245 In Central Kalimantan/Borneo, the flying head form we call it Hantimang. Kuyang is the name of the curse, people with Kuyang curse we call it Hantuen.
Yes I agree my mom told me about the flying head girl every time I didn't behave and it would get me but Now that im grown up I dont believe it anymore
There is nothing small about a price such as this. This is the greatest price these three young people could've ever paid. And it's sad that the film ended the way it did, because I'm a sucker for happy endings, and I very much dislike bad endings. Especially this one. With that being said, it was an absolutely great film, and the folklore is highly intriguing, albeit dark and gritty. I'm not a fan of dark folklore like this. Not really. I prefer my legends with less blood and death, and less sadness. But even so, this film caught my heart, and I'm glad I was able to watch it. I just wish she had lived...

It is interesting that this creature is known in many cultures and that it has multiple names. I first heard of in two different comic I used to read. I first knew it under the name "Penanggalan".
At first glance I was like how can this even work? But after watching the clip it was a pretty good story. The special effects both make up and CGI weren’t half bad either. Nice job Thailand!
There are other great Thai movies that are related to ghosts and stuff like this, most notably for me is the one about a long armed woman (I can't remember what the ghost is called). Horror + comedy movies are also popular in Thailand, based on my experience. If you are interested in these type of films, I'd say that you should check some other similar ones out! And if you do check some other Thai films out, let me warn you that some of them might have somewhat questionable CGI.
We call her krasue too the legend says that krasue was a princess back then but the thing happen she cheated with a soldier. The soldier was decapitated while the Khmer princess was burned to death. However, before she died, she chanted a spell to protect her mortal body but was only able to save her head and her organs. And now krasue looks for woman who are pregnant to eat their child before it borns to protect yourself from krasue you needed to put spikes around house so that krasue cant get in
@@skyblueroyale968 I never actually found out the full backstory, there isn't too many that want to tell the history you know, I wish I knew the history as well, very intriguing story still

Im a Malaysian. In my country, it was called Penanggal. Which mean something like Detached. I guess Thai people also believe in these creature. This creature will roam around at night, seeking a blood of an infant. If u see a glowing light moving at night, u better not say it out loud. Also, to prevent it from entering your house, hang some spikey thing on your doors, window and plant some spikey flower. This creature scare of spikey thing.
Malaysian here too friend. And some too believe never to hang your clothes outside when it is night time as Penanggal might smell your scent and follows you home.

Isn't it amazing how alot of Southeast Asian's have similar words but different meanings and also when it comes to mythological creatures ,up to this day news about them are still being shown on tv ,like a an "aswang" was terrorising a village by eating there livestocks.
yes its true. im indonesian. in Indonesia, the flying head girl is named Kuyang.
In Sulawesi is named "poppo"
Very well explained good job!!! 😁
Ahmaw in India😁
In Indonesia it call "kuyang" as urban legend kuyang not a ghost but human with high black magic power to gain immortality, rich and other, kuyang looking for blood from pregnant woman or baby

What a sad tragic story... Sometimes you stumble across film in which you cannot sympathise literally anyone, all are dumb and/or cruel and show the worst of them. But here the situation is the opposite. Feel bad for most of the characters ( and those being killed as well)
When the monk enter the scene with his rifle, I was like: "holy shit"

FINALLY, horror cinema gets around to the Penanggal. I'm amazed this hasn't come to light years ago...among global monster lore, the Penanggal is one of the most terrifying. Maybe a bit too terrifying for even Hollywood.
In Filipino we have a thing called, "Manananggal" it's like Penanggal but the body is cut off in half rather than head being detached. The root word comes from the word, "Tanggal" which means to remove in our language. Manananggal also have a wings after being cut in half.

The title :"Man falls in love with a girl's flying head that devours people"
2m people : hmmm interesting
All he needed was the head..hmmm.hmmm.
Jerd was the real hero of this. I feel his pain.
This really reminds me of the eyes horror game where there is also a flying bodyless head
Weird I grew up with stories of a Native American man as a floating head eating people.
Yes I agree my mom told me about the flying head girl every time I didn't behave and it would get me but Now that im grown up I dont believe it anymore
In North East India, Meghalaya we call it Skal, I thought its a myth but it is real
This indeed is the small price to pay whether for salvation or glory
There is nothing small about a price such as this. This is the greatest price these three young people could've ever paid. And it's sad that the film ended the way it did, because I'm a sucker for happy endings, and I very much dislike bad endings. Especially this one.
With that being said, it was an absolutely great film, and the folklore is highly intriguing, albeit dark and gritty. I'm not a fan of dark folklore like this. Not really. I prefer my legends with less blood and death, and less sadness. But even so, this film caught my heart, and I'm glad I was able to watch it.

It is interesting that this creature is known in many cultures and that it has multiple names. I first heard of in two different comic I used to read. I first knew it under the name "Penanggalan".
mystics in Bali stars a Penanggalan ghost.
it's hillarious.
That's why I say-- 🎶 "hey monk, nice shot! What a good shot, monk!"🎵

This creature will roam around at night, seeking a blood of an infant. If u see a glowing light moving at night, u better not say it out loud. Also, to prevent it from entering your house, hang some spikey thing on your doors, window and plant some spikey flower. This creature scare of spikey thing.
