I have these tank blankets for fresh and waste. I have also added a 12v self regulating heat cable which connects to the tank wiring blanket. The cable for 1.5 meters made up costs £7 from Ali express and draws 2.2A when full on but regulates to 1.2A depending on heat demand. The cable would just cable tie to your pipe and put on insulation. No more frozen pipe and costs little money.
Hi Sam. Did you know about Elddis's idea of Winterising a motorhome. We have a 2019 Elddis 155 Supreme. Last January we headed to Glenmore near Aviemore. We weren't concerned about low temperatures as our van has this winterising pack fitted (see my channel 'Glenmore in Winterwonderland'.) Needless to say everthing that could freeze - did! The most it got down to was minus 4 or 5 degees c which isn't a lot. With what looks like bubble wrap on each tank stuck with duct tape and not one hint of pipe insulation it's no wonder we had trouble. Waste water outlet pipe froze first then the washbasin waste, then the kitchen sink waste and then the cold water from the tank stopped pumping through. We managed with bottled water and a seperate outside waste tank that we poured sink water into. We had to wait for the weather to warm for it all to eventually thaw and start working again. God, when it all thawed out it felt like sheer luxury lol. I'm a retired plumber and used to sorting bursts and insulating pipes so you can imagine how frustrated I was. I felt helpless. Your kitchen sink waste pipe goes down in a big dip. This will be holding water that can freeze. It needs clipping flat to the bottom of your van floor. But you may then find bad smells come wafting from the tank as the dipping pipe is acting like a trap. You can't win unless you pop the plug in the waste in the sink. Ours are the same. On the Elddis production line who ever does the plumbing on these vans must have absolutely no idea at all. The pipes go up and down everywhere. Do this in a house and you'll have problems. Elddis are getting away with murder. There are supposed to be two heaters in the side of the tanks. We had these turned on. I don't think they work. The van is out of warranty which is annoying. We'll probabley be going again next January (gluttons for punishment) Thanks for the video.
Yes, this was useful, thanks. I've just fitted my water tank and now no water from the tap 🤦♀🙄. Given it's -1 outside, I the tank is frozen. I'd not heard of this item but might have to invest, although the cheapest one now is £125 😳. For some reason, there are no sizes listed on the different versions which might have been handy to know 🤷♀🙄
Hi Tony. Here's a link the website I bought them from. Looks like they have almost doubled in price since I bought them! www.force4.co.uk/item/Force-4/5-Gang-Waterproof-Switch-Panel-with-USB-Socket/972
Seems like your inlet froze because dangling like that kept water in it, which froze. If you angle in such away that water flows straight to the tank, you should be fine.
Hi Sam, excellent video. Is there plenty wire to run the positive and negative from the pad inside the van to anywhere you choose or are you limited? Also would one pipe blanket be enough for both tank inlets and outlets, or would 2 pipe blankets be needed?
Hi. The cables that come on the blanket are pretty short, maybe half a meter so had to be extended. I didn't end up buying a pipe blanket so can't comment I'm afraid! Cheers

Sounds like a good idea. Do you have a link so I can check it out? Cheers

Hey super helpful! What size cable did you run for the blanket?

Hi Sam. Great video mate. Where did you pick up those switch blocks with fuses please, look good? Cheers

@@sampayne6318 what cable would be needed to extend the wires into the van?
What camera were you using on the mountain roads? Looks smooth!
Hi Lewis. Just an iPhone...must've been down to the person filming it 🤷♂️😂
